  1. And we wonder why SJ used the term chippy?
  2. The equaliser sumed up what's great about the dutch team, robben's cynical dive what's awful. It was naive of the defender as they had it well covered, but robben, tut tut tut. The piblet has gone crazy over the world cup, is always acting out imaginary games, and penalties, but the thing he most of does is throw himself to the floor clutching his face and rolling around. Its equal parts hilarious and utterly depressing
  3. I checked mine for tonight and two of my predictions had dropped off completely, so reinstated them. It is still a somewhat bugged site I must say. That doesn't say why I'm effectively bottom (assuming keef and co have given up), just not getting enough correct scores!!
  4. excellent stuff numbers, cheers!!
  5. memorised someone's number
  6. The problem with BBC impartiality, or at least trying to let all sides have a say, means everyone thinks it's against them. Righties think it's leftist. Lefties think it's rightist, Palestinians think it's pro Israel, Israelis think it's pro Palestine, Christians think it's anti Christian Muslims think it's pro Christian, etc etc etc. Actually it gave ukip acres of coverage and the greens nowt, so some people might be right...
  7. enough already SJ[ac]KQ
  8. applause for otta on fine last words on this topic (because you boys anren't sue and po... I mean DJKQ) excellent. Soooo, no games tonight, will feel a bit odd, like scratching that missing leg. And can't even fill the void with booze as have to get on a ferry and drive 300 miles at 6 in the morning!
  9. its the silver strips in the hemp, remarkable properties
  10. It's really cos i couldn't be bothered to set up my own company and i need to pay off a chunk of this house (oooh, about a years wages I'd say)!!!! It seemed the easiest way all round.
  11. Ooh, what about the lasers on the russian goalie last night? I was pretty shocked, I've never seen that happen before; and poor sod was screaming at the ref about it just before he utterly fluffed that ball for the algerian equaliser. Still, I'm glad Algeria got through for a bit of colour in the tournament, and just to make ENgland feel even smaller than it already should ;)
  12. To be fair to quids i don't think even he thought he was fishing, i think he just said it because its sort of expected of him. Maybe I'll get a moderator to add a smiling winkey ;)
  13. and while we're at it, anyone who, when it snows, says smugly "and they say there's global warning" might end up with an ipod embedded in their skull this winter.
  14. I'm in the weird situation where im now contracting and it gets paid into my wife's company. I now recieve what might best be described as 'housekeeping', which is wayyyyy lower than a tax threshold. Still, i've nothing to spend it on out here.
  15. I know the origins of 'soccer', what annoys me is its use here differentiates it from the true 'football', you know, the one where they carry it in their hands ;-P
  16. he he, yeah, me too. Italia '90 would be my peak WC tournament I guess, coming of age, down the pub, genuine excitement. *wafts away into haze of nostalgia*
  17. can't wait for ZP to review this doozie!! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=274135797
  18. football, sorry 'soccer'
  19. The torrential downpour has just ended, the sun is already shining brightly. The smell is amazing!!
  20. you asked for a possible explanation ot a personal opinion. The dirty challenge and pretence of innocence is morally the same as the challenge that's three yards away and the guy goes down to get the guy carded/penalty etc in my book. As I've said a dozen times, it's the critical mass where 'gamesmanship' is almost more a part of the game than actually trying to, you know, kick the football, that has turned me off the sport at the higher levels. I'd head down Champion Hill if I were you!! Amazingly here are my local replacements, also Paul McGrath's local team!! Go on you pink and blacks!
  21. errmmmm, does that mean 'fess up or big trouble'?
  22. I guess it depends on whether they can get their mojo going, they're still not looking world beaters, but they are improving, if they get past chile i still think they're favourites. Other than that, who knows, I'm inclined to agree with your last 4, but it could easily be USA in that semi-final if argentina are indifferent again and Belgium haven't looked quite as tasty as people predicted.
  23. You're just playing devils advocate, right? yeah, and no, just saying its not that simple. Government has been lenient on big corporations for the reason that they generate wealth even if they don't pay enough tax on the profit. There are nice bookshops in waterford and wexford (20 aqnd 40 miles respectively), I'll buy stuff that looks good, but they'll never have anything that I'm looking for. Electronics...in Ireland....double the price, sod that just to be parochial!!!
  24. Genrally I've had tax back (usually because i've taken sabaticals with the kids), but if its ever the other way they usually give me a nastier tax code, so it's absorbed via paye again. writing that cheque must definitely be red hot poker bum time!!!
