  1. head over heels holds up pretty well, could do with moving a bit quicker, but otherwise pretty solid! loving the manual 'if your computer is fast enough, over 233 mhz..."
  2. happy days http://www.repton3.co.uk/chuckieegg.aspx you'll be happy to know chuckie egg is as good as ever with perfectly refined gameplay, something flabby but pretty games of today could learn from!!!
  3. nope, don't think i ever played the dizzy games. lets see, classics would be the manics and jet sets i guess, ant attack? horace, sabre wulf probably lots of others. On the beeb there was obviously revs, aviator and the still influential elite. I spent a crazy amount of time on Chuckie Egg and i have fond memories of this little gem, though i doubt it'd play so well in this day and age

"Roy Keane to Celtic would help to feed his ego I suppose. Couple of guaranteed titles" So they went for a pitbull instead of a squirrel then ;)

it goes through lulls, and god knows we've been responsible for predicting 'this time..' I mean there's plenty of life in it, its just there's not alot interesting to engage which is giving us regulars apathy which has crept here too. I mean Glazer dead and nary a peep?!? Anyway, come the world cup hopefully we'll all cheer up a bit!!
  6. I think MUD was more of a genre wasn't it? aaah, telnet, when games were incomprehensible!! can this be a nostalgia thread then? I guess I probably kicked off with this doozy!! like i wouldn't have been winning 50-0, pah!
  7. "Therefore any strategy to increase low-skilled workers wages should involve increasing their skills over time" I'm not sure this makes sense does it? You increase your value by going up the career ladder, but this is a hierarchichal thing, there simply can't be positions for everyone higher up the chain as they all get older. "Picturehouse programming director, Clare Binns, ... who worked her way up from an usher at the Brixton Ritzy" must surely be the exception amongst her ex usher peers. In theory it'd be nice if people got paid more for increased experience, seniority in the literal rather than hierarchical sense of the word, but we know in low/unskilled professions this isn't really the case. I've spent my entire career at the coalface, but am fortunate that it's an industry that pays well to begin with and my seniority has risen with experience, not responsibility, but professional erm professions aren't exactly the issue here. So in reality doesn't society, well shareholders, depend on the work force not increasing its value in any way? In fact given the levels of youth unemployment it would seem that older more experienced staff are being kept on at low wages rather than being replaced with cheap inexperienced youngsters. Sorry, just musing really. *edited for shameless grocers apostrophe
  8. "In its purest form, a newspaper consists of a collection of facts which, in controlled circumstances, can actively improve knowledge. Unfortunately, facts are expensive, so to save costs and drive up sales, unscrupulous dealers often "cut" the basic contents with cheaper material, such as wild opinion, bullshit, empty hysteria, reheated press releases, advertorial padding and photographs of Lady Gaga with her bum hanging out. The hapless user has little or no concept of the toxicity of the end product: "
  9. yeah bludgers, if it wasn't for fecking people and there 'sickness' and 'accidents' it would be the most efficient health provider on earth!!
  10. definitely aplies to politics as much as drugs!! http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2010/mar/22/charlie-brooker-newspapers-dangerous-drug?CMP=fb_gu

  13. i was going to say king's quest. The hobbit perhaps? You definitely get picked up by an easgle in that. I used to have to threaten my old beeb to load that game, then after 40 minutes of failed attempts it'd load and my brother typed 'attack gandalf' and you had to load it again when you died!! grrr......!!!

Gutted from Ilford. Vaguely pleased for Bale as he's a nice lad unlike that count Ronaldo. But gutted gutted gutted, shades of West Ham in the FA Cup :-(
  15. ha ha ha!!! It's been several decades, if they haven't started to grow after all that its not going to happen is it. I dunno, i think it might be too serious a business for me. I like stuff you need to listen and parse, i like stuff that challenges, but sometimes music just needs to have a god tune or sound pretty, all things for all occassions. I too trawl through obscura in the hope of finding some diamond i nthe rough, but i suspect most remain obscure, not so much because they are too far from the mainstream, but because they're not good enough. I'll admit to having found nothing that geniunely excites for a little while now. But then I guess I'm a bit more jaded these days. Recent stuff I've enjoyed seems to have been of the more wash-over-you variety like Chvrches or Pure Bathing Culture. Sometimes I'd rather jack, but sometimes i'd rather fleetwood mac you know!!

said colleague is in london, as are all of them in fact. I've only met man u and liverpool fans so far here....
  18. ok, it's a pic soundbite, but it neatly illustrates the point about Europe. UKIP simply want to take britain out of europe full stop, they don't care about Britain's interests or what's best for britain, it's just gut nationalist politics pure and simple. Europe does actually change, it's very easy to achieve things and make differences within a supra national forum which has at its very heart the desire for cooperation and progress between nations. Farage could have done something, but would rather use it as yet another stick to bash the EU with (whilst claiming expenses for his absenteeism)

Jah, i kind of agree. I can tell they're great at their craft, but ultimately I think i find them a bit boring too. They're basically Wishbone Ash with sunshine aren't they ;)

Titch, if you liked Waaves, give Japandroids a go, similar aesthetic but there's actually a good solid pop sensibility underlying the fuzz.

I had a very long commute home. Steely dan have some cracking tunes, but they're one of those bands I think I ought to like more than I actually do. They tend to get airplay at casa pibe when my muso brother in law is over.
