okey dokey. Have just been through my entire ipod in search of someone who made a difference rather than was justreally good. Aside from my own obsessions (that'd be robin guthrie and kevin shields) I'd have to go with Lindsey Buckingham. I mean...the man has a girls' name for goodness sake!!! and as usual if we're going bassists, there is only one Kim Deal!!!

People tend to be sniffy about the pistols, but Steve Jones' influence on the next decade (including Johnny Marr) is pretty big. And though he's been much parodied and maligned (probably thanks to spinal tap) we can't do rock and not mention Jimmy Page.

Verlaine would ususally be up there for me, though his solo stuff was .... ermmm.... Jansch is wonderful. I'd love to say Roy Harper but that's a dubious option until the courts have decided. Bob'll hate me for mentioning jazz, but Marc Ribot is pretty wonderful without being noodly. And obviously Andr?s Segovia is the greatest of all time, sin duda.

It is indeed. We have the dining side of the edt once we've kicked out the rugger buggers. There might even be a short live set by a reknowned forumite. Hopefully a good turnout for this, I've a couple of folk I haven't seen for years so dead excited! I shall be getting thoroughly munted from about 7 onwards. Drunken hugs "I fackin fackin' love you Gumbo" start around 9:30.

"that assumes that demand at a particular price point is infinite, which I doubt" maybe not infinite, but if it is indeed being driven by the Chinese noveau riche, then it could certainly be described as insatiable. See what half a million buys you in Hong Kong if you want to see how bad things can get. The civitas advice is beginning to look more sensible. -

I ahven't been to one since i bumped into you behind TCR that time SJ. I'm not sure they're quite so deserving of ire other than being rather identikit, see also youngs and nicholsons. THey certainly used to be staggeringly cheap for central london, and the beer was always potable if not exactly interesting. But then I probably used to frequent them before anyone thought beer could (or rather should) be interesting.

IOL was very much saying that the foreign investment is at all levels, though apart from an anecdote about some poor chinaman who was conned into buying in lincolnshire and someone else pushing speculative buying in Epsom, there was only evidence of them prebuying plush new developments so I wasn't entirely persuaded. -

Did anyone watch the report on Inside Out London. It laid the blame squarely at the feet of China & Hong Kong. -
It's like saying the canning, buddha jazz a launderette and a corner shop constitute the beating heart of Denmark Hill Village (pronounced villahsz). It is a bit of a stretch isn't it. Clearly west dulwich can do a chip on a sholder just as well as the east side! ;-P

the rental market seems just as bad. We've had a few prospective tenants come through and they all say the same story about the horrible condition of pokey places with weird layouts going for a fortune, especially in SE22.
