Aww... you're like a spurned lover. You still haven't got over him leaving you have yer Quids Jah.
  3. an app is literally just an app(lication) like any software you can get for a computer. It's just on ipads (and to a lesser extent on android devices) the market is tightly controlled, so you have to buy them online from Apple's appstore and install them from the ether. Tablet's do have limitations compared to a laptop, but they have strengths too. There's no tedious booting up, they're very light and use much less power. For browsing your usual sites it's actually much less hassle to use one. Some apps are useful. Addictive? I dunno, there was talk about candy crush and that game the developer withdrew, but I don't think that's an aspect of apps per se, more that people always have their phone with them and can become obssessive about stuff, whether social media or these games that reward regular visits, and try to encourage micro-purchases.
  4. I bought an iPad when I saw parents keeping their kids quiet on the ferry with one. Indispensable from that point of view!!!
  5. Oh, and vaguely on topic, click-bait literal style headlines. GGGNNNGgghghghh
  6. rename the thread .* i hate Mine would be working with regular expressions, but that's something for another thread....or is it?!
  7. I had a worse week, I clean forgot!!

exactly how i feel. Though I guess if we somehow won the world cup Terry would appear and don an England kit for the celebrations. http://www.wsc.co.uk/wsc-daily/1175-march-2014/11273-brazil-2014-is-last-chance-to-enjoy-england-s-failure
  9. Poor old SJ, just trying to get people to follow some simple netiquette and gets abuse for his trouble. Here you go, "6. use the search" Yes, point 7 describes our SJ, but it was hardly years ago there was a post a week ago, and lo and behold your question was answered in the very next post http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1247332,1256220#msg-1256220 If it wasn't for the likes of SJ this place might be more like the nunhead forum, so some respect due.
  10. it was more in reference to Malumbu's weird ramblings which seemed to be reaching for some sort of moral relativsm.
  11. *shuffles uneasily* actually i don't do on the hop any more. i walk nowhere!!!!!!
  12. and of course the lineout bypasses all that stuff. Am putting my ipod through a musical fidelity DAC and it sounds excellent (rather than music played from beyond the mortal coil) maybe something like this for on the hop? http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/products/HP-P1.shtml
  13. It does sound suspiciously like a firmware issue, probably directly related to the ipod type softweare, but that would be guessing. Have you tried using the lineout rather than the headphone jack and seeing if the difference is still there?
  14. I'm really not sure where you're going with this? Not to Godwin it, but by logical extension are you saying that the nazi war criminals shouldn't still be purprosecuted because killing people was the norm in the 40s? Weird frankly. You can brush up on logical fallacies and rhetoric here I'd suggest appeal to ridicule, red herring, straw man and undistributed middle for starters.
  15. I'm finding the oppressive silence a little twitchy I must say. JNot to mention I have far too many windows that faces loom in at. Aaaanyway, I suggest the naysayers leave the obsessives to their impending coronaries. You've tried pointing them at real data, you've attempted to persuade them of the futility or NIMBYism of their struggles, you've even attempted to poijnt them in the direction of changing their relationship with noise (or london) to no avail; move on to the cycle thread, there's far too much peace and harmony there.
  16. Longer term the problems of exploitation will lessen, we're already seeing the urbanisation of the third world affect tea harvests as they struggle to attract labour, the obvious solution will be increased wages. The real threat to your cash crops is the pressure on land for real crops to feed those megacities and of course the dreaded palm oil to power them. All of which is actually good for the residents of the third world, less so for your 69p bananas!!
  17. I wouldn't worry AQ, I'm blowing hot and cold at the moment, plus it's the cup, anything can happen!!
  18. All alone, even my children turned against me, that was especially sweet. In all seriousness it was knackering to even watch and as good a game of rugby, sans the free flowing stuff, as you'll watch in a while.
  19. and getting the lampost fixed?
  20. That man gives Piers' the world over a bad name. Utter scumbag. Bring back
  21. ...still crying...
  22. A slightly disturbing insight into our future, or just a socially awkward girl too clever for her own good. Either way I admire her pluck, for the glowing table idea alone she rocks* http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/11/4187906/ok-cupid-giving-your-love-life-to-google-glass-and-the-hive-mind *to be uttered with a rising inflection, damn i should have added 'click now', or 'you decide' shouldn't I, I'm obviously not very good at this.
  23. de la soul giving away their entire back catalogue to celebrate 25 years. I'm guessing 100am EST or something http://www.wearedelasoul.com/
  24. gee .... suss ... wep ...... t
