  1. Hi dimples, I wish! On both occasions damage on wall of tire so would appear to be malicious. K.
  2. I parked in College Road on two separate occasions recently. (Not a frequent visitor). Escher at the gallery and then volunteering last week. Post Escher I found a deflated tire with a screw in the wall passenger side. Duly changed. New tire. Second occasion (last week)a proper slash on the wall drivers side. Again changed. New tire needed. I'm beginning to wonder if it's personal. Feel violated. Anyone else experienced this? My car is a little beaten up Ka so not worth anything. Can't think why this might have happened twice! K. PS For residents only. Trolls - back off!
  3. My postcode comes up on google maps as a couple of streets away... Perhaps before jumping to conclusions about peoples integrity... it might be worth exhausting other avenues ( so to speak). Tech is more fallible after all.
  4. 1982 - the year channel 4 started. Mathers in Broughton Street Edinburgh (Licensed till 2.00am)just a couple of doors up from Realfoods (barrels of grains, pulses, spices and proper soap!). Real beer, real bran and Farenheit 451. In fact you could catch a Fassbinder or Truffaut movie at 9.00pm on a Friday and still have hours to sink a few pints downstairs. Both Mathers and Realfoods are still operating and I understand channel 4 are running a series called 'Humans'. I do sometimes wonder if ED is shortened for it's likeness and whether it will ever catch up and of course I wonder how much that flat is worth now... K ;).
  5. Having not visited the new M&S on Lordship Lane, I can't be certain they have a wide variety of fur coats but no knickers. Can anyone confirm?
  6. Could it not become a Transport and Generals Workers Venue?
  7. Is Strakers Road a more convenient route for the busses out of hear? Sorry, perhaps this should be discussed in the Lounge or even the Ivy House?
  8. Sorry, I may seem cynical but I believe this is an attempt to garrotte the common from the park in the same way the the land north of East Dulwich Road has been garrotted and is now being slowly and insidiously concreted over and used as a bus terminal. Commercial enterprise has been introduced onto the main common with the arrival of the cafe and obviously adjacent land now commands a premium, hence shunt the one o'clock club.
  9. While we're on the subject of encouraging sport, can we have the Lido north of Nunhead lane/ East Dulwich Road reinstated for those of us who hate the noise and heat of swimming in enclosed spaces and perhaps want to be fashionable and train for a triathalon while showing off how hardy our kids are, especially when they're capable of attacking the local dogs in the park totally unprovoked (sic)? What is just 'not cricket' is the insidious concreting over of the common between top of Rye Lane and East Dulwich Road. Would love to see boules played on the bit of land outside the Nags Head not because thats what the Trotters would do but just it seems like a good bit of land do it. But hey do any of you know where the Nags Head is or have tasted the best Sunday roasts in South London in The White Horse? No. You're all too busy being distracted by an expensive consultation on park improvements. Yah! How cool is that? Well I'll tell you how cool from my experience - it's a dodge. The council have lobbyists chucking money to greenback every available green space. The spaces that have made the area cool are direct results of local campaigners foiling 'politicians'. So I wish you well in finding space for cricket. I would welcome it. Ruskin Park has always been my favourite space for batting...
  10. Being an ardent horticulturist it should perhaps also read 'children prohibited' or have you never been to the Chelsea Flower show with a buggy expecting a breath of fresh air?
  11. Sorry not wanting to sound like a troll but my elderly (i.e. he was probably enjoying this park before you and helping keep it safe and 'in stock') dog has been abused a couple of times in the past 3 months by toddlers not on reins. He's had his eyes poked and tail pulled by a pair of toddlers who may or may not be freaks of nature but were certainly in the 'care' of a childminder who couldn't give a toss. Fortunately he is a most gentle, placid, elderly, beast and ignores children and puppies alike when they are more than a little exuberant in there desire to explore human nature. I regularly see little bizzums kicking out at the birds around the duck pond. My boy is only interested in potentially getting his aging leg over with some horny bitch. Can we please have some signs stating unless your child can show a humanistic respect for other creatures then keep them chained at all times? Ha! I know. Highly unlikely. Oh and my eldest (human) is 22 and yes we used the park and the one o' clock club, campaigned for the skateboard park, asked for hydrologists to sort out the drainage to prevent footballers breaking ankles in the cracks that appear on the common in hot weather and volunteered to raise funding to 'restore' the park. If you've just flown in from Clapham, Hoxton or Nottinghill - don't get a dog until you can cope with your kids in the park please!

  13. Oh... and her mothers dog was called Lucky. Potential punchline:). Kx
  14. My mum always said it ' was lucky' when you stepped in poo or bird shit landed on you but I guess that was just her infectious positivity. Perhaps you should buy a lottery ticket next time tho? Merry Christmas x

  16. Not sure to be honest about seed grown specimens but you'd do well to check out these two web sites:- http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1398/ One of the forumites on the Dave's garden site mentions 4 years. They'll be worth the wait tho :). Kate

  20. Hello There, I've only ever been affected (since 11 years old) during Wimbledon fortnight so whats ever flowering around now does the damage. I get extreme itching in my throat and eyes. I discovered about twenty years ago that homeopathic euphrasia ( common name eyebright) does the trick. I'm slightly sceptical about homeopathic remedies but I like the ones that have their roots in traditional remedies as eyebright does. You can buy eyebright (euphrasia) as an eye wash and this also helps to relieve my symptoms. I now take the remedy (30c euphrasia) for a period of about 3 days and that knocks all my symptoms on the head for the duration of the summer with an occasional 'top up' dose in extreme weather/pollen situations. Hope this helps. K Probably best to go to a qualified homeopath for advice tho!
  21. Have posted on FB. Was also asked at allotments on Sunday by local constabulary. Have everything crossed for you.
  22. Best kept secret in ED. The Barbers on Forest Hill Road just up from the co-op and Ryedale. Sophie charges about ?25 for a stunning cut. Not sure what the barber charges - but they are the nicest young couple I've met in a long time:)
  23. i have just upgraded to an iphone 4s from a Nokia X6 and am extremely frustrated that I can't use the iphone as a usb drive like a used to with my Nokia.
  24. When my great aunt visited Peckham in the 1980/90's from Massachusettes she used to say we had 'shoppers with no money'. That was when we had an M&S in Peckham:)
