  1. Oh is that what it was. I saw a helicopter in the middle of the road and was very confused because it was a red virgin helicopter. For some reason I thought an air ambulance would look, well, like an ambulance. How sad. And do stay away if you can, the traffic is dreadful.
  2. Me and Fireman will be there. He's stopped muttering now.
  3. I'll be there. Brum is a floating voter. He'll let you know. He wants to go but he's not sure he can. He's muttering a lot at the moment.
  4. Thanks - weird I did a search and that thread didn't come up....... But thank you. That's very interesting.
  5. Sorry I know this is a daft question but can someone educate me on what the difference is and why it matters?!

  7. Not at all - I've never met you so how on earth would I know that! I meant that his attitude to a person living in a van outside his house is not the same as yours has been on this thread. But I don't want to spoil the play by saying much more. I hope you do love it though. I saw it performed with Maggie Smith, it was just genius.
  8. The Lady in the Van was a beautifully written play. Tho Rubyshoes - Mr Bennett and you didn't exactly see eye to eye on this subject so you may not enjoy as much....
  9. I would echo comment above. Stick to ED/Peckham and you'll get trouble. But those in the village would simply NEVER sleep with the help.
  10. Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Now they're having a go at Peckham! Is nothing > sacred? AND I notice he hasn't taken me up on the offer. I guess that tells me all I need to know about my neck of the woods. Can't even tempt a(potentially too smug) down on his luck van man. With or without a little sister.
  11. My son has a back pack, and until he learns that roads are dangerous, which at 3.5 he still hasn't learned, he'll continue to wear it whether he likes it or not. My dog also doesn't listen to me so she'll continue to have a lead. I've never tested this theory, but I reckon I prefer them both when they are alive. And I don't give a tiny rat's arse whether anyone else is offended.
  12. Popchoir is going strong in Dulwich but still open to new members. Here's why I love it, click through to Popchoir website if you are interested in joining up! http://tinyurl.com/6juelnb
  13. Thanks *Bob*. I've had a right good chuckle from your posts on this thread! Keep it up. I would offer van man my road but it's a bit too near Peckham. You lot have offered him MUCH poshers digs!
  14. Such a shame keef isn't about anymore, he'd have loved this thread. And where the heck in huguenot? He SURELY has an opinion? And Anette Curtain? Could have been SO much better with a tiny bit more sh*t stirring. As it is I think preggy woman smoking and/or breastfeeding in a charity shop cubicle still has it. Shame.
  15. I see no one's missed me then? *Flounce*
  16. Just wrote an article on this very subject! I apologise in advance to any Spanish speakers.... http://tinyurl.com/6l67vto
  17. "If my neighbour thumped his son for keying a car, I'd congratulate him." "NO ONE is saying it's right." Going to have to disagree with you there. I think someone did say it was not just right, but worth congratulating. I think I'd rather offend an adult that risk the safety of a child. http://www.nspcc.org.uk/Inform/research/statistics/prevalence_and_incidence_of_child_abuse_and_neglect_wda48740.html

It's difficult to know where to start with this. "Thumping" children is inexcusable, no matter what they've done. As a general rule you teach them to respond to difficult situations with violence, aggression, and temper, and you also teach them not to get caught. You don't correct their behaviour or change anything in the long term. Unless of course you ""thump" them so regularly that they are obedient out of fear only, in which case you have produced an obedient but damaged adult, with all the probelms that brings if they have their own kids. There are more ways to instil good discipline than the fear of THAT LEVEL of physical violence. Capitals used in an attempt to stave of "bleeding heart liberal" and "there's nothing wrong with a smack on the back on the legs" type torrent that will probably come my way. I'm not talking about smacking. I'm talking about a grown adult CONGRATULATING someone for THUMPING a child.
  19. Oh buggering bollocks. My babysitter is ill and cancelled. Shall not be attending. :X
  20. Me and Fireman will be there, meet you at Omrith for 8.
  21. Where are we up to now? I need her Ladyship to return. Unless someone else can tell me how long courgette seeds take to germinate.
  22. What a fantastic talent. Really beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing it.
