Not looking good at ED stn, been here 30 mins, each trn says an arrival time, then delayed, then cancelled. Announcements contradict the billboard ! If i get on a trn will post again. -

Huguenot - I don't know where you get off, but I'm not interested in silly point-scoring on a board that's supposed to be for moderately serious exchanges. Your post(s) appear to need to antagonise and be contrary, to evoke some reaction for your own amusement, rather than discuss in a friendly way. I posted about something I experienced, other people were there, they were scared, he didn't get hurt, I did what felt right at the time. Even if you have doubts I'm certain you can do better than be rude. I didn't speculate the chap was a paedophile, you know that, I was simply interested in how consistent your application of 'mitigating factors' really is when behaviours arise that are perhaps more emotive. It's quite interesting that my portrayal of events is being re-written by yourself actually, isn't that some kind of plagiarism ?? If so, surely I'm due a little commission by now !!! Yes there are two (or more !) side to every story and yes some people very well may make mountains of molehills but does that mean you need to all but accuse someone of lying just because it's 'possible' that people can be untruthful ?!? Good luck my friend. -

Yikes !! It looks like I've been branded a white prick. Thanks for that ! And also for the assumptions that I was drunk and hungry, slight leftfield, but I guess the forum's anonymity can be used to hurl whatever insults you please, good luck ! A slight digression from the original question, and one less welcome (for me) than the other interesting points made. Huguenot - You can paint the guy as a victim, there's always a way to do that obviously, but fact is he scared the hell out of a bus load of passengers. Drunk or not, feeling theatened or not, chip on his shoulder or not, hard done by or not. The guy who tried to blow up the plane into Detroit may also have had 'his reasons' which we can speculate on all day long. Are you saying the man on the bus's behaviour is acceptable ? That we should consider all connotations of his possible background into consideration before reacting ? Or that no reaction at all should occur just in case he's had a hard time somewhere in his experiences ? If he'd been fiddling with a kid on the bus would you still be painting the potential picture of his hardships as part of your 'encounter visualisation' and 'rhetorical flourish' ?? -
I second that emotion JTT, I'm learning loads just following this !!

Mike Tyson was a very good technical boxer, yes he had the power but his footwork and lateral movement in the ring was astounding, he was extremely fast on his feet. His punches obviously ended the fights but it was the entire package that got him to that point... in/out, counter etc. The notion of Tyson caused fear in many a boxer meaning several of his fights he'd probably already won before he even stepped in the ring. People say Buster Douglas was a lucky puncher to beat Tyson but he actually boxed impeccably and himself is (was) a very talented athlete, he set Tyson up and KTFO him. Fights I look forward to this year are Kevin Mitchell against whoever he faces - he did brilliantly against Breidis Prescott, and Jamie Arthur who's taking on the KO merchant Martin Lindsay. Also will be good to see Edwin Valero get in with someone of high reputation and see how good he is, they say he's just a heavy handed fighter (he can bang) but I believe his defence is underrated - his footwork in and out is immense. Also be good to see who Poonsawat Kratindaenggym fights next, he flattened Bernard Dunne in 3 and was gifted the decision from Ricardo Cordoba who IMO outboxed him all night long. Gonna be a good year...

I'm sure I'm missing a really obvious point here - but what's the issue with the blood being mopped up ? If you need a blood sample (don't know why they would, I assume the victim was identified and his clothes will be covered in the stuff) and there will be traces of it on the floor still if they want to get all 'DNA' about it. Like I say it's probably an obvious point and I'm to dim to get it ! -
Hunca: "getting drunk is fun. the religious squares and johnny foreigener dont realise this Go to a french bar or cafe and see how many smiles & laughs you can count in a hour. Go to a British bar and do the same. No contest The cool cats drink because its great. The cubes are too uptight to make a @#$%& of themselves now and then. " Your comment: "Go to a french bar or cafe and see how many smiles & laughs you can count in a hour. Go to a British bar and do the same. No contest " Is exactly my point ! It seems sad that the British bars 'smiles and laughs' are produced through intoxication. As if one can only be achieved through the other.

Vince - I am not sure whether the guy had a job or not or needed social services / welfare support - my question was more around what (from a security perspective) the police would have done had they got involved ! Mockney - I would find it alarming if the police were more concerned with paperwork than making an example of the perpetrator of such a scare !! Yu may well be correct though. Hunca - When someone pretends to be a terrorist in order to scare people I am not sure that a response as if the person actually WAS a terrorist would be wholly incorrect, I mean it's not like the De Menezes case where he was minding his own business is it ! The whole event was scary and has caused me to think a lot about my travel arrangements and my 'rights' to feel safe / other people's obligations to not make other passengers suffer fear, whether through just generally being obnoxious and threatening violence or pretending to be about to blow the whole bus up. -

EmmaG - I think it's just the medium of internet / threads. You aren't there stood in front of the people you're talking with and because it's written down it's a target for being picked apart and the semantics, meaning, grammer and content questioned. Stood in a pub (say) most people wouldn't pick comments apart in the same way or argue so blatantly because they would look silly. Posters can sort of hide behind their anonymity IMO.
