  1. Would recommend for a decent dinner for two at (both in crystal palace): Joanna's Numidie Bistro
  2. That's because you were 2 days after the fact VHart.
  3. The foxes must be safe, or at least they must FEEL safe in SE22, judging by the amount of rutting and the noise they make while doing so.
  4. ok not 'legal tender' but legal / reasonable means of paying ! should have known better before typing imperfectly - jeez the EDF drinks must be a riot if you get your words the wrong way round when speaking. Must admit I never heard of anyone refusing a cheque when it's with a guarantee card, thanks for the education I really appreciate it.
  5. cheques are legal tender, if they weren't your bank would advise you to stop writing cheques and they would not issue you with a cheque book. just (as always) make sure you guarantee card is there to back it up. and act confident, it's your right to pay how you like.
  6. 'The Fan Man' by William Kotzwinkle
  7. For those polite people who are curious to see more lanterns I will start a thread advising when i do some with the nippers in a couple of weeks. PeckhamGC - Hiya just look on Ebay, more you buy the cheaper they are obviously. Maybe we need to synchronise 'The Great ED Lantern Let-Off Summer 2009'....... i'm sure the authorities can invoke some inaptly named law, possibly pertaining to anti-terrorist legislation.
  8. I may have been responsible for the chinese lanterns last year which are mentioned at the start of this thread, I think I'd come back from a festival and told the kids about the lanterns, so we set a couple off before their bedtime, then ended up with them in their pyjamas following the lanterns through the streets of SE22 until the lanterns disappeared East. I hope they didnae cause concern at the time !
  9. get a take away from 2 sisters in nunhead you can't go wrong. proper Bangla dishes some of 'em.
  10. carry a large javelin and point it straight up into the sky to avoid all lightening, you can only do this successfully in wide open spaces like the park.
  11. Cancelled my subscription last month which became effective on June 15 :)):))
  12. most asians I see ie. Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Chinese do actually seem to marry / settle down partners from their own background. Clearly there are exceptions to this (in my experience mainly within the SE Asian community or 2nd/3rd+ generation descendents of immigrants). Don't turn this into a racist-fest, try to be objective, people on here love to pull the race card, it's a cheap point scorer isn't it. Is the offence caused by somebody (whether a hacker or not) commenting on this fact / trend ? What I mean is, if the 'fact' / trend identified is accurate then what exactly was said 'wrongly' ? The MANNER / TONE it was said ?
  13. May I ask what is the driver for this measuring exercise ? Is it to validate the levels of Strontium55 again ? Or is to to check on other radiological/chemical/biological dispertion in our area ?
  14. I wouldnt worry about it DulwichMum, anal is all the rage these days.
  15. siomcc, did you find the answers you're looking for ? we're all busting our chops to help you given the steer you provided !
  16. They clean the place really quickly in that minute.
  17. 'Better' is a fairly vague term.. Does it mean richer people, nicer kept gardens, more expensive cars, less edgy neighbours and more curtain twitching ?
  18. ???? and Jeremy have it correct. I have done it in 35 mins at 0500 or an hourish when roads busy, in a combi. ALSO - you don't pay congestion charge via this route, it's a kind of 'corridor of immunity' from the charge which I think many people don't know about.
  19. My Dad's bigger than your Dad, ner ner, ner ner ner..
  20. "Canary Wharf, I would rather eat my own feet than live there" he he he !!
  21. I mean, what are your reasons for NOT leaving this place known as East Dulwich. ie. what holds you here, discourages you from moving elsewhere, satisfies your desires locally.
  22. Either that or they : - don't know how to sustain a conversation - ignore the comment because they think you're from a lowly area - don't want to talk to you
  23. I had this comment from someone last week: "Oh East Dulwich... I hear it's the Sante Fe of South east London !" ....perhaps slightly over the top but nice to hear ! Generally people have heard positive things about ED - what responses have you had ?
  24. Well one thing is clear the name 'Crystal Palace' comes from the famous building itself. The aera known as Crystal Palace now was formerly South Sydenham or something. So the road must have take in its name from proximity to or association with (though how we know not) the CP itself. I just want to know WHAT association with the CP..... maybe they just thought it a handy name......
