  1. 2.5 Million tonnes of fish is used by the cat food industry each year go to DKH sainsburys - a whole aisle of cat food choice, mostly fish. 10% of the forage white fish haul is now used for cat food. The average western cat eats more kg of fish per year than its owner. Most cat owners would consider themselves warm, compassionate & caring. Most cat owners are poltroons.Blates

Humans will always find way to make do wont they. Like cockroaches, the poor have an unnerving habit of self preservation
  7. "Housing minister Grant Shapps said: "For too long, hardworking people have faced long legal battles to get their homes back from squatters, and repair bills reaching into the thousands when they finally leave. "No longer will there be so-called squatters' rights. Instead, from next week, we're tipping the scales of justice back in favour of the homeowner and making the law crystal clear: entering a property with the intention of squatting will be a criminal offence." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19429936 It would appear so
  8. You could probabaly post my response for me - im hardly opaque in my outlook . Given the changes made to housing benefit likely, I am concerned that a heavy handed application of the new improved law could cause more issues than it resolves.
  9. no longer a civil item but a criminal one thougts and comments please dear EDF
  10. Is this the start of something new in the increasingly evening entertainment free rye lane? http://app.southwark.gov.uk/licensing/LicPremisesGrantedDetails.asp?systemkey=834258 Licence to open until 4AM on weekends. Interesting addendum Owner recently had licence to run a club in Lambeth revoked after issues and complaints ( South Beach bar) http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/moderngov/mgAi.aspx?ID=19202 Based on an application by the Lambeth Police Licensing Unit for a review of the South Beach Bar on the grounds that conditions/undertakings had been breached and that crime and disorder was taking place. I have no axe to grind here, just bringing it up.

  13. re nam anyway I havent been since USSR breakup days and can imagine things have changed a great deal - you could still buy French Dien Bein era Rolexes and omegas in the junk shops in Hanoi for a few USD. I may be going back fairly soon as it happens. I would urge anyone looking to travel in Nam to read Tim pages " derailed in uncle Ho's victory garden" as an interesting backgound to the Nam/CAm region - an ex Viet war photographer travels back - rather interesting insights to modern vietman vs memories of his experiences. Its out of print now, but worth tracking down. I cannot recommed Cambodia enough though - its stunning and you get a real feel for a society rebuilding itself as you watch, its almost an experiment - the good and the bad are evident everywhere, but truly fascinating.

  19. https://www.petnet.co.uk/scratchingpost/stories 1st Story at random "...that's what mummy says, anyway. I woke her up early this morning by jumping on her with lots of meowing. And last night I decided I was lonely after 10 minutes of the lights going out, so I yowled and called for mummy until she told me she was there and everything was okay. Then today I wanted my breakfast, then decided I didn't want it when mummy got it for me. Then I wanted cuddles and meowed at mummy a lot, then when she tried to stroke me I told her to go away and walked off. Then I ate all my breakfast and wanted more when mummy had to go back to sleep, so I yowled again, using my special one that sounds like 'Mama', but mummy didn't answer : ( So I jumped on her on the bed but she ignored me. Then I wanted to play and meowed a lot again so mummy couldn't go to sleep. I think I am in a funny mood. I don't know what I want today." I know what you want - the electric collar
