  1. Why does it bother you?
  2. And what about it? So if I post about flowers on a thread about vegetables - what happens? You can always talk to Admin if you see anything untoward and examples please?
  3. and?
  4. This is a reply to ExDulwicher post. I mean the community where almost 70% of those taking part in two consultations (what a waste of paper and other resources btw) said 'no' to ltn. How can local elections reflect this? Impossible. People have a thousand and one problems to solve: no money for food, for rent, exorbitant mortgage rates and train fares; broken NHS, broken dental help - this goes on and on and on etc. These things will always come first.
  5. Great news the groups across London are getting together. Hopefully a chance for more scrutiny and regulations instead of councils doing whatever they want, ignoring local communities.
  6. Disappointing to see H&B coming to LL. Would be great to have 'no packaging' shop instead
  7. I am very grateful to what One Dulwich - the real one not the troll on here - do for the local community and ordinary people who live on main / boundary roads, are elderly, disabled, unable to cycle, not able to afford to simply move somewhere better. @Administrator isn't this too much?
  8. "You are a dispicable individual" - guessing this supposed to be "despicable". @Administrator not sure how comment like this helps any conversation
  9. Campaign Update | 12 Jan Dulwich Village junction: still no access for emergency vehicles Access through the junction for emergency vehicles is vital for the Dulwich area as a whole. In February 2024, the London Ambulance Service agreed to a trial closure of Calton Avenue. Five months after the bollard went in, this is still blocked. Court Lane, the other arm of the junction, is also still blocked, despite promises that it would be reopened once the building work had finished. We have emailed highways@southwark.gov.uk to ask why the delay continues – please do the same. Southwark report shows Dulwich LTN fines are vital income boost Southwark’s Parking Annual Monitoring Report 2023-24 makes interesting reading. (The word ‘parking’ is confusing here as the report also covers the Moving Traffic PCNs – or Penalty Charge Notices – that include LTN fines.) The report shows a 500% increase in Moving Traffic PCNs issued in Southwark in 2023-24 compared with 2019-20, the last year before the Dulwich LTNs were introduced. Overall, Southwark made an estimated £8 million from nearly 140,000 Moving Traffic PCNs across the borough in 2023-24. The report doesn’t break down its figures by ward or area, but we know from a recent FOI that the ANPR cameras in Dulwich Village led to 35,621 PCNs being issued in 2023, and 16,963 between January and August 2024, so Dulwich fines are making a significant contribution to the borough total. Southwark says that any surplus after costs is reinvested in the highway network (see ‘expenditure description’ in table 7, including more than £6 million in ‘Environment reserve’). However, this reinvested extra cash means that Southwark needs to spend less from central funds. In other words, the Dulwich LTNs are an important revenue generator. Is this perhaps the reason why Southwark is so reluctant to make the signage for the LTNs less confusing? Legal challenge against LTN in West Dulwich The West Dulwich Action Group are taking legal action in the High Court against Lambeth’s LTN. The hearing is on 12 February. Road sign at Dulwich Village junction replaced Finally, one small piece of good news: the Court Lane road sign on the lamppost outside 1 Court Lane has been replaced after the last one went missing during the building works. Thanks to Southwark’s Principal Lighting Engineer for making this happen. Best wishes for 2025, The One Dulwich Team
  10. Few more ( and more) million of pounds - taxpayer money - and it will be sorted
  11. Walking from Guy's Cancer Centre to Waterlo via Newcomen Rd - crossing Borough High St then Union Street and The Cut - is a great route to experience daily near misses, especially if the weather is nice
  12. The traffic has always been horrendous around Forest Hill but with the so- called ltns, traffic calming measures and other such nonsense, every time thames water dig a hole in the ground (almost weekly) or something else goes wrong, it is a complete mayhem
  13. Pretty much
  14. High time to reform Dulwich Estate!
  15. I do not drive, I do not have a car, never have owned one. I cycle but not in London. I walk a lot. I am sick and tired of the cycle lobby bullying everyone into their own tiny tiny world. @DulvilleRes "This local forum feels like it is being subverted by culture war nonsense of dubious political origin.' - what does this mean?
  16. On a second thought: is this what we get for millions of pounds spent on the area the size of my living room - and I live in a very small flat? Five half-dead plants and the slabs from India? After thousands and thousands of pounds already wasted on the consultations (including wasting precious paper (=trees) to produce the consultation leaflets - the outcome of which were then ignored by Southwark council, while the residents clearly said they do not want the LTNs - we are now told to lump it and waste even more money on the vanity square?
  17. Hello concrete 🙂
  18. Details please the Jester: which ones of the posted informatiin is: 1 Laughably ill informed - why? numbers? evidence? who posted it? when? 2 Inaccurate -why? numbers? evidence? who posted it? when? 3 Inaccurate and Ill Conceived - why? numbers? evidence? who posted it? when? 4 "and I will keep laughing at them" - have fun 🙂
  19. maybe @snowy the Jester can tell us what he finds so amusing in the One Dulwich post?
  20. One Dulwich Campaign Update | 24 Nov Dulwich LTN cameras continue to rake in millions As reported by Southwark News, Southwark Council is on course to raise up to £3.3 million in fines in 2024 from the Dulwich Village LTN, bringing the total raised since traffic cameras were introduced in January 2021 to between £13 million and £26 million (depending on how quickly fines were paid). A recent FOI shows that in just the first eight months of this year, nearly 17,000 PCNs were issued. The camera on Dulwich Village generated the most – just over 7,000 fines, or an average of 41 cars each weekday – followed by the Townley Road camera with just over 5,000 fines, or an average of 29 cars each weekday. Very few drivers deliberately incur fines. We have told Southwark Council on numerous occasions that their signage is difficult to read, badly positioned and often obscured but they refuse to do anything about it. Why? How safe is the new £2 million junction redesign? Concerns continue to be raised about the Dulwich Village junction redesign. The railings outside the Infants and Junior schools have not been reinstated. Design safety features have not been implemented, even though road humps to slow cyclists and contrasting colours between pavement and cycle path (particularly important for the visually impaired) were recommended in Southwark’s March 2024 Decision Report. In addition, nothing has been done to ensure that cyclists stop at pedestrian green man crossings. If – as Southwark has repeatedly stated – the safety of children and pedestrians are their priority, the design has clearly failed. London buses are slowing down A new report from London TravelWatch, the capital’s independent transport watchdog, says that bus journey times have increased in every borough over the past decade, even though the number of cars has dropped by 5% in the same time period. An analysis of the report’s figures by The Times found that the biggest falls in bus speeds are in boroughs that have introduced LTNs since 2020. TfL recognises the need to increase the number of journeys made by bus in order to reach the Mayor’s Transport Strategy target, which is that 80% of all trips in London should be made by foot, by cycle or using public transport by 2041. (Current figures estimate that walking accounts for 22% of all trips, cycling 4.5%, and public transport 31%.) Since the Dulwich LTNs went in, Southwark’s own figures show that traffic has increased on roads like East Dulwich Grove that carry the buses on which we all depend, and a TfL reportcited the Dulwich Village LTN as the root cause of delays to local bus routes. Why are London councils like Southwark putting in traffic schemes that make bus travel less efficient? Thank you for your support, The One Dulwich Team
  21. @DulvilleRes am not part of One Dulwich but am very grateful for what they are doing. Am just an ordinary person living on LL - messaged me in privete if you want to meet
  22. Several shops had to move or close from what I remember. And I stopped going there altogether - used to visit the bookshop, stopped for coffee and would take all friends and family to see the area. No more which is my personal protest. The closure of Dulwich Village junction means the roads which would take some of the Lordship Lane traffic are no longer accessible to cars. All the traffic is now pushed to LL, creating even more air and noise pollution for residents living on LL and other boundary roads - as if it wasn't bad enough already. Dulwich Park is 5 min away from Dulwich Village junction - on foot. Lots of space (and the coffee shop) to hang around. 3 minutes walk to Gail's, Crown&Greyhound pub, Pizza Express etc. - but this simply is not enough for DV residents and its removed from reality Southwark Labour councillors and supporters.
  23. But of course. The £1.5 million Dulwich Village junction re-design, despite the complete lack of community support justifies "the new great public space". Being five minutes away from Dulwich Park.
  24. It is completely out of control - the bike companies dump bikes anywhere they want. Nothing stopping people dumping them anywhere they want also. Lime is owned by American company - why on earth American billionaires are allowed to hijack whatever little public space is left in London? Picture attached is next to Old Vic.
