It's like a hostage-swapping situation. You've got theirs and they've got yours. Just make sure the hostages are equitable.
  5. First time I've seen it. It's not overly funny, but then I don't think that's really the point of the sketch. I mean what are you saying Mick? That over-zealous parking enforcement officers should only be played by white people? Why? I think this is the point of the sketch, beyond the comedy parking attendant nonsense. 'That over-zealous parking enforcement officers don't have to be white - and so what?' I think it's a step forward, not a step back.
  6. You're right. Good God.. the Union can't even co-ordinate the Facebook campaign properly.
  7. The Facebook Page "I support London's Finest Firefighters". "5,282 people like this" It's not really a figure to be shouting about.. there are more firefighters than this involved in the action! Once you take into account family, friends, plus affiliated unions etc etc the figure is dismal..
  8. For Woof..
  9. I used to do this thing with my flatmate when we were on the rock n roll: we'd turn-up once a fortnight to a class and spend an hour or so listening to someone explain how to switch on a computer - and they gave us an extra tenner a week. Great for keeping the dole off your back. "I'm tryin'.."
  10. You can rent your home out for a location shoot for the day and net a tidy sum yourself. You don't even need to have a nice home. Half of The Bill was shot in complete dumps across South London. You've worked hard for your dump; it's time to start making your dump work hard for you. Free amusing Facebook status update with every shoot.
  11. When you're losing a PR battle against Brian Coleman, you have to start asking yourself serious questions.

If they said why, it would help.. instead of employing monotoned union jobsworths to busy themselves on London radio stations with a feigned air of indignance claiming it 'just happened to be one of the available dates for striking.. you know.. a bit of a coincidence'. Treating the very people you need to get on-side as complete idiots is a poor tactic.

This was Cardle's last chance for me, but he blew it with his whiny take on Travis doing Britney. Here's a great Britney cover, well worth downloading.

Personally I think you should have 'one' deducted for posting on either of those two.

Ahh.. I feel slightly nostalgic for the the days of Pop Idol - Pete Waterman was excellent value. It was like having an unfashionable Granddad on the judging panel - only an unfashionable Granddad who managed to get his music out on half a billion records.
  18. I've been trying to photograph the woman who lives opposite as she gets undressed late at night, but I'm running into technical difficulties. Can anyone recommend a lens which doesn't get too steamed-up?

Great to see 8 bigger losers than myself topping the list - well done all.
  20. A five and five ones.
  21. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not down on bended knees blowing my bank or anything - even if I could fit it into my mouth, which I doubt. The banks handed the money out, but it didn't get pressed into people's hands at the point of a gun. Personally speaking, I sh1t myself taking on any sort of loan, spending nights in a cold sweat imagining the worst possible case scenario (which can be pretty bad 'in my line') and then deciding whether it can be done or not - before taking the plunge.
  22. You're forgetting about why banks started in the first place: most people don't want to keep their hard-earned stuffed in a sock under the mattress. I know I don't. I'd pay someone to keep my money safe. As it is, the trade-off is that they keep it safe on the condition that they can 'use it' in the meantime. So I don't see current accounts as some kind of rip-off. And there are added benefits - You get a cheque book, which is useful for paying large sums, which is free. Your VISA costs nothing if you pay it off. You can travel to virtually any country in the world, stick your card into a machine and get currency. You can bank online and get all sorts of stuff done - which is free. All sorts of things. The demand for credit, credit and more credit is as much to blame as the banks willingness to lend it. Almost everybody is to blame. Blaming 'the banks' is just a cop-out.
  23. Notable recent exceptions aside, the boo-hoo'ing about banks in general is absolute cock. If you don't want anything from them, they're happy to provide you with a range of must-have services for (largely) free. But what's that you say? You want money? Rack-up your credit card? Mortgage? Loan? Then it's going to cost you. What do expect? An interest-free handout?
  24. It's a shame that - for obvious reasons - firepersons aren't able to 'fess-up that the current shift patterns add a supplementary appeal to the profession. Acknowledging this appeal won't somehow make them any less committed, nor does it even mean that the way it works now is flawed and needs changing. It's a shame because I think it's this aspect - the continual dismissal of that (w)elephant in the room - that doesn't ring true with an increasing number of Joe Public.. and is managing to do the seemingly impossible: diminish support for people who are totally prepared to risk their lives to save total strangers FFS! "Yes, we are prepared for the possibility that we might actually burn to death at some point in our career, but as compensation it would nice to have a more appealing shift pattern." Is that really so bad?!
  25. I can't look at her face. It looks like she's continuously coming-up on a pill.
