  1. Absolutely. And surely a very expensive sportscar would bring about any or all of the above (on one side or another)? I can personally account for at least two of them. Pique me!
  2. You've got to appreciate.. it's not easy to strike a balance between keeping old faves like Alan happy - and trying not to offend newcomers like Jon. It's a fine line.
  3. jonsuissy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Alan > I like it, I'm warming to you:)-D > Jon This forum can sure be a strange old place sometimes.
  4. Alan Dale Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Very earnest *Bob* but you're not telling Jon > anything he hasn't already deduced. You're right, of course, Alan. Let me edit my post... hang on.
  5. Jon, Internet chat forums are are not the same as a drink down the pub. You may get a few less manners, but you may also get a bit more honesty and provocation - otherwise they would be as dull as dishwater.. no-one wants to read recommendations for plumbers all day long, do they? Would I march up to a man who just got out of a Porsche with an '07 number plate and tell him he's a 'flash git'? Of course not. Would I think it? Yes, I would. Incidentally, if a good friend of mine turned-up one day in a brand new Carrera, I would have no hesitation in telling him he was a flash git and a cock. He'd tell me piss off and then we'd go to the pub. You can't possibly tell me that someone who has spent that much on a motor vehicle hasn't given a moments thought to what it might say about him - and hasn't already decided whether he cares a hoot or not? As Sean says, we (all of us) judge other people all the time, and those judgements are made based on information available. If the information changes, we may revise out opinions. Your pal may be a wonderful human being and were I to discover it, I would revise my opinion to that of 'someone who is a wonderful human being - but who has a terrible taste in cars'. If we became good friends, I'd then be at liberty to tell him that he was a flash git and a cock, at which point he'd tell me to piss off and we'd go down the pub. ... and the capital of Namibia is Windhoek
  6. As in "noshed off"

I spotted you outside the CPT last night, Keef, smoking a fag and looking wistful. It's high time for a career change, my lad. Sort it ahht!
  8. lozzyloz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bob, least you can do is wash jonsuissy's car as > penance. Sponge, Bob? As penance for what? For jonsuissy misreading my post - and jumping to the bizarre conclusion that somehow it is my heartfelt belief that Porsche Carrera owners deserve to have their cars vandalised.. and then going off in a huff?
  9. Deny it. If she presses you on the matter, put your coat on in a huff, mumble something about 'lack of trust' and go to the pub. And then leave the country.
  10. Jon, An internet forum is about writing.. and reading. If you are (as it seems) lacking in the skills to read posts properly, then you're probably right - it isn't the place for you. Incidentally, there is no connection between an expensive home entertainment system inside your home for you to enjoy, and a cheesey ?50k style-free car, placed outside your home as a status-symbol for other people to admire/laugh at.
  11. Indeed.. I only speak for myself. Just one in a thousand on this day alone (handshakes all round etc) I've already made it clear, crystal clear, in black and white, that it is only idiots who cause criminal damage to other people's property, for whatever reason. All that is left is the flash git / cock thing. If jonsuissy is indeed the owner of a two year-old Carrera, then he might assume I'm calling him a flash git and a cock, in which cash he might be upset. So I thought I ought to ask, just to be clear.. you know.
  12. We are talking about it. Do you own a cheesy Carrera then, jonsuissy?
  13. Both Brendan and Jeremy make fair points. Nice tasteful old 60's Porsche = car enthusiast with an eye for style, probably prepared to get his hands dirty. Two year-old cheesey Carrera = flash git with zero taste and no imagination. I would never be such an idiot as to drag a key down the side of the latter: I'm already satisfied with the knowledge that the owner is most likely a bit of a cock.

  16. Tsk.. you know, you'll never climb up the golden ladder of gentrification unless you learn to be more snooty.

  18. snorky Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > teh Inside 72 & Gowlett fav so far. Ooh yes.. there are six, not four. I must have skipped-on with glee to the reviews I knew would be bad. Ha Ha.
  19. Hmm.. of all four of them, it's actually your most favourable review.
  20. Snorky, your problem is you have strayed outside the remit of the average 'BITE' reviewer. If you limit your criticisms to eg 'no etched glass panels in lounge area' or 'hardly a beard in sight' - then you should be ok. Still it seems a shame we should be robbed.. I feel your Bishop review will be worth a look. Why not just post it right here?
  21. Jack Penate - not Billy Crystal
  22. He's a local boy, isn't he?
  23. Does anyone recall his recent 'dwarf' gaff.. during halftime commentary of some recent-ish England game? Wonderful.

    Red Arrows

The 'Arrows' need only be the cherry on the cake.. I suggest: an elderly motorcycle display team - doing that pyramid formation thing; a thousand Morris dancers; Beefeaters doing the Lambeth Walk and donkey rides near the long jump pit.
