  1. 9.43 It's snowing
  2. Can there be any act more pointless then telling someone bent over double with laughter that the person they're watching 'isn't funny'? Hard to resist though. To pluck one out of the air: Ross Noble.. does nothing for me. And Stewart Lee's live show will be the highlight of this year, same as it was the last - no doubt.
  3. I'm not against an M&S by any means (back to those cheese tasters). I just don't believe that the fabric of SE22 is likely to crumble without it. That folks will be clustered around braziers and burned-out cars in 2020 muttering "if only M&S had come.." I find it a bit embarrassing that this is THE issue that people just can't get enough of. It's like when Mitcham got its Harvester, only worse. It's just a shop, not an elixir for eternal youth and happiness. I love the notion that there's a secret conspiracy, a cabal of anti-Emmanessars sworn to keep miniature pots of couscous and sundried tomatoes out of East Dulwich - or die trying. Rather than the simple truth that the planning office turned the application down.
  4. I see what you're saying. If there's no place where you can buy six biscuits for ?2, then the butchers might close.
  5. Wasn't there some other place on Lordship Lane that famously sold 'late night refreshments'? Don't think it was tea and coffee though.
  6. Was she in room 237?
  7. 'ppreciate the detail
  8. "No, I totally understand, Grishilde - let's not rush things. I know this nice little hotel that you can stay at. Just give me a call if there are any problems and I'll be right over, day or night."
  9. Loving your plan there, Jah. Nice work.
  10. Ian (Iain?), wasn't it?
  11. My Mum stayed their once (Leigham Court). She said it was ok. Basic but clean. Nothing to write home about - but nothing to complain about either. It's a big old place. That was quite a long time ago..
  12. Packshot shows food on square plate. Contains hints of things and/or jus. Costs about ?7.99.
  13. I see your 'uplift' and raise you 'upcycle'
  14. Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- .. as a shopping street this could have been the nail in the coffin. So what you're saying is that apart from the butcher, the various greengrocers (traditional, specialist) the fishmonger, the wine shops, the diy shop, the post office, the stationers and card shops, the banks, the various clothes shops, the delicatessen, the specialist cheese shop, all packed into about 150 yeards - apart from these - because we don't have ready access to Cheese Tasters and aspirational food for terminally lazy - we're doomed? I think we'll be ok. (I will miss the Cheese Tasters though)
  15. Mick, (may I call you Mick?) Taking the time to compile a list of local businesses you never use - accompanied by the notion that they could close because you don't use them - is not 'dry' or 'droll' in the Jack Dee sense. Or in any other sense. It's an act of joyless misery, devoid of any sort of the qualifying humour required. It's totally misjudged. Your perception and actual reality are poles apart. If you are an all-round sweetpea in real life - with bonhomie leaking from every hole - then please.. for the love of god - let a bit of it leak out on here.
  16. Time to move perhaps, Foxy? There must be some corner of the world that could afford you just the tiniest bit of pleasure - before you slide miserably into the grave?
  17. Can't you see what's going on here?! You've seen Superman III, right?
  18. It was mulligatawny as well. Stained it yellow. Took weeks to come off.
  19. I'm off soup
  20. I'll lay a fiver that if Le Barber had said he'd supported the application for 24/7 opening a good few of the 'supporting' posts on here would be against it. 'Scuse my cynicism and all. I think you elect people to have opinions, lead, inform - and take decisions: not fawn over the local residents at every turn. That's a recipe for nothing ever getting done. We have been informed. Barber (and the other councillors it would seem) have formed their opinion and taken a lead. If they've misjudged the mood then perhaps their stance will change - but half a dozen swallows/posts don't make a summer. The ultimate decision isn't even theirs. Personally I don't think enough people will be bothered to use such a service to make it profitable (point made by S-Gab earlier) so it's something of a moot point.
  21. I tried a naked lunch last week, but ended-up tipping a bowl of soup in my lap and scalding my bell-end. Never again.
  22. God forbid elected officals (elected by us, offically) should have opinions on things. Makes your blood boil.
  23. No, let me have the last word, pleeeeease - it's important SQUEEEEAL
  24. What other words - apart from Canon and Repertoire - are you having trouble with? I'll see if I can help.
  25. It's not my fault if your understanding of this stuff comes from hurried googling. You've only got yourself to blame.
