  1. I wouldn't go to just see fireworks, bonfire night must have a bonfire otherwise i'm not interested.
  2. Yeah it's funny, Nunhead has got a lot better. I purchased a property here 8 years ago, though at the time ideally wanted to live in ED but found the pricing too high. Now, i'm the other way round, I like to live here and just visit ED for restaurants. A couple of my direct neighbours had houses in ED, sold them and moved here with spare change so the area has changed quite a lot in terms of demographic and feels very chilled.
  3. Seen it but haven't been in yet. Will definitely check it out this weekend, should be a nice addition to the area.
  4. Ah well, joining the bandwagon a guy shouted racist abuse at me and my partner yesterday, apparently because my bald husband is a white racist skinhead. Nice. Loving coming back to London from a relaxing holiday to meet this kind of bull s :)
  5. Well said Kidkruger and well done the jogger!
  6. Well, to go against the grain, i went down there yesterday and yes it was a bit chaotic but the burgers and atmosphere was great. And ?7.50 for 2 slabs of chuck steak really ain't a rip off. I had a burger not that long ago at Gouurmet burger which was pretty tasteless, stale and over cooked and i'm pleased to say the meateasy was none of these yesterday!
  7. How funny, my boyfriend goes to that place in Cheshunt sometimes, there's a really well known martial arts guy who lives and teaches up that way but I cannot remember his name. On another note, I went to the pool for the first time in a couple of years and although the pool was really nice I probably won't be going back. I went on a Tuesday lunchtime for a swim and the pool was packed to the point of it actually being irresponsible to have that many people in there. I counted 15 people in the lane I was in. Can you actually swim like that?! And the changing room despite being new was still pretty dirty. Not a pleasant experience but at least the pool won't be so crowded with one less ;-)
  8. Man, that's awful. I can't believe the brazenness of it :(
  9. A lot of people on my street already sweep leaves from outside their house, we do it from ours once a week. I don't recall the council shifting any of the snow from our pavements last year though, the roads, yes but pavements no. So not really sure what's being gained out of 'everybody' doing it..
  10. Haha, someone answers back for once on this forum. There are always two sides to every story.
  11. I don't know Camberwell but Nunhead cemetery has lots of dog walkers, joggers etc in there and i quite like it. It makes the place feel a bit more used. That said, Nunhead cemetery is a bit of a nature reserve so it doesn't feel that out of place.
  12. Can't believe someone asked why you found it offensive for them to be leaning on your fence. As you said, its your fence and you have every right to be pissed off. I too have a house close to the pavement and on more than one occasion my boyfriend has gone out to move on people just loitering outside, once it was these two guys who'd taken a shine to our dustbin and just wanted to stand there drinking. How random is that?
  13. Boo hiss Tiger Ranks! I used to shop at Sainsburys but, for the past 4 months have been using Ocado as its actually cheaper. Seriously! Ocado may cheaper than the physical shop but its still good news that it will be arriving in ED none the less.
  14. As far as i'm aware its never been going to East Dulwich? I thought its extending straight down to West Croyden via Forest Hill and Honor Oak for 2010/2011 and then a year later adding another extension from Surrey Quays to Clapham via Queens Rd Peckham and Peckham Rye?
  15. No problems with rail at all for me this morning, which was weird as my train was cancelled yesterday morning when there was less snow!
  16. Hmm, not sure if crime is 'rising' in ED but, being viewed by many as a 'wealthy' area it doesnt surprise me that it is seen as a 'rich pickings' kinda place. Whether people come from other areas specifically, well, its possible, but, I would imagine there are plenty of people in the vinicity already who know where to traget. ED has not always been such a gentrified place...
  17. No way! I've only ordered from Spice Republic once, and that was enough. Really poor Indian cooking.
  18. Worth reporting, illegal weapons and you said yourself that you felt uncomfortable walking past them...
  19. I'l second the butchers on Nunhead Lane. Very reasonably priced and good cuts of meat :-)
  20. the dog is called jake, i believe he takes the owner for the walk, heh heh
  21. Well yes, Italian style food done badly may be nearer the mark and I haven't been to Italy since i was a child, so most of my experience of Italian cuisine would be based on meals over here. Where can I go in London to sample a more authentic take on things?
  22. Probably the only one on here but, i really dislike Italian. Can be incredibly over priced, considering its mostly dough and pasta! As others have pointed out, there are already 3 Italian restaurants in the neighbourhood, do we really we need another? How about a good fish restaurant?
