  1. One such will survive at the cost of another one or two. However the yattering yummies with their buggies will be happy there are so many outdoor seats.
  2. Many of these children are coming on buses from Peckham and Brixton directions, you cannot expect them to walk with their heavy bags. The Council are just not looking after children full stop. Whether they are Charter North or East, Jags, Alleyn's, Japs,DVIS, DHS, Judith Kerr, plus any I have forgotten(!). As long as the coaches get through apparently.

Actually walking along Court Lane or Woodwarde Road in the dark is not very pleasant when there is no passing traffic. Too quiet and just the kind of place for a person to hang about and see what they can steal off a passer by. Hardly Beirut but that is not what Abe meant.
  4. A friend of mine is doing one of the unofficial counts. I asked her this morning and she said that 47 vehicles went through the camera in to Dulwich Village in 15 minutes. As I said the other day - kerching. Another friend living on a displacement road told me last night she reckons traffic is just heavier earlier before the close times start. Have to say getting out of our shut off roads is not an attractive proposition and I bet anything you like that Eynella Road will be closed off next.

To take 45-50 minutes to make a journey that until last month would take 10 minutes, when you have a very ill person to look after, is commoner than you think. That's the trouble with pro-LTN folk, they largely lack empathy for the older or sicker people in OUR community - many of them don't even live in the Ward affected.
  6. The pro groups are tweeting like mad with not even a passing thought for the many sad stories being reported of people not able to get to daily chemo, blue badge holders not able to get to doctors and hospitals - unless even though they are unwell or actually very, very ill, having to sit in a displaced traffic jam to get where they need to get. Incidentally some of these pro groups don't allow you to post on their twitter feeds, thereby blocking any feedback (for them, read negativity and and for us, reality) that might be pertinent.

Someone I know in Burbage Road says there is a two week grace period. This is probably for the council to iron out the awful signage rather than to let people get used to the new rules.
  8. Bus gates eh? As overheard in the Council offices where parking fines come in: Kerching.
  9. Well if you live in a five hour enclave, or in a road shut off, which actually is most of Dulwich Village Ward, you are forced in to an existence where travelling to areas outside your enclave become a terrible chore, taking longer times and then repeating the longer journey when you go home. After Covid we will really see what traffic is like.
  10. I went down to Dulwich Village to take a look. Walking along towards the Gallery it looked as if most people were just driving through. The warning signage is awful, a driver on Gallery Road has no idea about the Burbage Rd bus gate camera until they have turned and are in view of the camera. Lots of grinning cyclists though.

  12. Southwark think this is sewn up. We will see about that! It is outrageous that blue badge holders cannot go through the bus gates in DV. To say there is a way in to every road is ludicrous. Of course there is a way in, providing you want to sit for an hour in the traffic on Lordship Lane or East Dulwich Grove.
  13. Number 19 is a rubbish option weighted away from any kind of constructive criticism. And it is anonymous. Uncle Fred from Camden could be writing a comment for all we know.

There are no school streets nearby forcing traffic on to busy roads. We all got used to that scheme at Trafalgar Square because it was logical and in fact made little difference to driving around the area. You couldn't say the same if you lived in Croxted Road or your child was at one of the Rosendale Schools.
  15. It's a great idea. But I think you should have a supporters group - shoppers I mean.
  16. The Council Plan from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee 9th November set out seven ?vision statements? that are at the heart of what they want to achieve for Southwark. These are:  The best start in life: clean air, great schools and an opportunity to thrive  The quality homes that you and your family need  Fighting for you, on your side in challenging and uncertain times. ***But not answering any emails or questions sent in, and certainly not in any way modifying the plans.  A great place to live with clean, green and safe communities  A healthy borough where your background doesn?t determine your life chances.  Full employment, where everyone has the skills to play a full part in our economy. ***But not caring about anyone who has a small business in any of the roads suffering displaced traffic, so if the business goes bust, oh well, blame the motorists.  A modern efficient council: working with the community, listening to residents and open to you. *** Unless you want an answer to any query or suggestion made to make the schemes more equitable. But certainly hoping to coin it like Lewisham has done, with plenty of money from penalty charges, which we can spend on, um, um........ *** my response
  17. If no survey, then May 2022 will be when we give the answer.
  18. I am not against cyclists, family cycling, lowering pollution and increasing walking and exercise. What I am against is the lobby that makes all of us who want the junction reopened and timed entry, to make us villains in our own home area, it annoys the socks off me. Live and let live. Spread the traffic load and paint more cycle lanes if that would help. Displacement is the curse. The local cycling lobby do not care about this at all.

Paranoia? No, just fact.
  20. I agree with Rockets. Cyclists may be the more active community on Twitter but they also have the ears of the councillors and the schools. What they don't have is any empathy for businesses in Lordship Lane and the Village shops, and the fact that as long as their kids can sit on a kerb for a publicity photo, this must prove to everyone that it is the right thing to do.
  21. "their more vocal constituents...........sustrans, london/southwark cyclists/ mumsforlungs/ livingstreets et al". You got it! Not forgetting Dulwich Safe Routes to School and the Transport and Environment committee of the Dulwich Society.

The people in the Village will be able to feed off the food from the shops that are part of chains: bread, tiles, clothes, etc because the one shop businesses just will not survive. Tiles are delicious I hear.
  23. What an ugly, over-signaged, yellow lines and so on area Dulwich Village has become. Some hope of any of this stuff being overturned. Dark nights try walking through Court Lane, College Road, it is not pleasant.

There has always been a cyclist area at the front of the lights too. Most make their way to it, even now. I yesterday watched three do this while I was waiting to cross east Dulwich Grove.
  25. At this rate, no one with any life outside SE22 and SE21 will be able to go anywhere.
