  1. Hi all, Thanks for your replies and your concerns.. Agree that more should be done, will definitely look into those other animal rescue charities this evening and see if they can provide any help/advice re this poor dog! Didn't get a chance to go past today, but asked my other housemate to keep an ear out on her way home from the station, but she said she didn't hear anything. I am going to investigate further tomorrow, hopefully before the garage closes and also after it has already closed... Have just googled the locations of those 4 garages, thank you Ianr, and my housemate have now recognised the location as JCM Autos! Fingers crossed!
  2. Although not technically ED, there is a dog that is shut in the motor garage on Blenheim Grove in Peckham (just to the right of the Peckham Rye station entrance on Blenheim Grove), that is clearly in distress and is barking continuously after the garage closing hours. I noticed the dog the other day, and noticed a few other people taking interest as they walked past too, but it was only today when my house mate came home and told me about witnessing the same thing this evening, that we decided to ring the RSPCA.. the RSPCA can't do anything about the dog unless we can prove the dog doesn't have some sort of shelter... my housemate tried to investigate and started to ring the RSPCA while she was there but was greeted by an unfriendly man sitting further down the road in his blacked out car. The dog didn't have a shelter but a table for it to 'shelter under'.. Was just wondering if any one else has noticed/become aware of this poor dog, and if anyone knows what else / if anything else we can do!? Surely leaving an animal locked up outside barking all night is cruel to say the least?
  3. In my opinion, all charity shops are deserving. I donate items to charity shops that I no longer use or need, and I am more than happy to give the item a new lease of life and a loving new home.. if you're concerned that they're not being sold for enough/gaining enough for the charity, then sell them yourself! Volunteers take the time out of their lives to do a great job, and it's disheartening to see people picking flaws in the system - charity shops everywhere are always looking for new volunteers!
  4. So I know it's Peckham and not East Dulwich, but I was wondering if anyone could provide any information about how to get a parking permit/ provide information about parking in Peckham. We have just looked at a flat on rye lane that we are eager to sign for, but one of us is a bit concerned about where she'll be able to park. We noticed that there's council run car parks where she can get a season ticket, but we think they probably operate within certain times. Any information will be greatly appreciated!
  5. The other day we witnessed someone dropping off a black bin bags full of donations outside St Christophers, only for it to be quickly whisked away minutes later by the accordion lady. Beggar, busker or not, I wouldn't want to give my money to someone who takes profitable valuables away from a charity..
  6. iPod touch found this afternoon in Dulwich Park. Locked so can't access it. If you suspect its yours/someone you know, send me a message and we will get it back to you!
  7. Young Siberian husky knocked over killed Sunday morning. Lorry driver responsible covered body with tarpaulin, and placed traffic cones around. Body is still there as of now. Have reported it to 101. They are notifying council who will remove and check for microchip. Witness to accident said dog ran straight into road in front of lorry. It is outside Jags school entrance in middle of East Dulwich Grove. Has black leather collar with diamante trim. If anyone knows of anyone who has lost dog fitting description please direct them to Southwark Council.
  8. I'm a local childminder in the area, and often take the 3 boys I child mind to the playground at Goose Green. Since taking the boys to the playground, I've been aware of a group of teenagers (boys and girls) who must be no younger than around 14/15 who are in the playground most days (everyday that i've visited in fact). I've noticed that they don't show much concern for the other, much younger users of the playground, as they ride their bikes through the paths of wobbling toddlers, curse, and sit on the equiptment preventing the use of it for others. It's always bothered me as i've often thought 'haven't they got anything better to do?' until today, when I had enough. The youngest of the boys with me is very into football and brought his brand new football to the playground today to practice his goalkeeping skills and involve other kids in the playground in his football game. I saw the ball roll over to the group of teenagers (who were gathered to the left of the goal and on the climbing section on top) a few times, and instead of either leaving the ball or kicking it back to the boys, decided to kick it a few metres in the wrong direction. On the final time the ball rolled over to the boys, and without hesitation one of the boys picked up the ball and booted it into one of the nearby gardens, much to the amusement of his friends. The boys I was with looked defeated and turned to each other with a look of 'not knowing what to do' and one of them began to cry. I marched over there and fairly requested that they get the ball back. They looked at me, sniggered and returned to their phones. I then said that they behaviour they were showing was bullying and unfair, and if they didn't get the ball back i would be reporting them. At this point I walked away pretending to be on the phone, and they scarpered. I was absolutely outraged and wondered if there was anything i could do? Or if anyone else is bothered by their presence or have had similar experiences? Help please!

  10. Hi....try these http://globerowingclub.co.uk http://www.ahoy.org.uk/contact-us/contact-us/ http://www.ahoy.org.uk/contact-us/contact-us/ery close by in Deptford. Teams very recently rowed across English Channel to fund raise.
  11. It's shocking that despite hearing a feral noise (including lots of screaming), people aren't caring enough to find out if anyone needs help!
  12. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions! Stacey-Lynn- yes it's a shared hallway. Originally we thought the neighbours bike had been stolen too, but we discovered that they were out with theirs. Kylakevin- yes, will do! Westnorwoodboy- hope you got yours back!? Will try those sites, we're staying hopeful!
  13. My boyfriends metallic blue Carrera Virtuoso bike was stolen this morning from his hallway. Have reported it to the police, and checked auction sites etc, but if everyone could look out for a bike resembling the one in the attachment(!) it would be much appreciated, and a reward is being offered. The bike had customised bar ends and water bottle holder, both in matching metallic blue. Trying our best to get it back, and shocked and disgusted that the theives enetered the house in order to steal the bike! Have no idea how they entered but hopefully we will find out and be able to prevent this from happening again! Thanks! edited: forgot the attatchment, doh!
  14. Despite cowling and Wilcox in camberwell, I would be more than happy to see a local independent art and craft shop on the lane..
  15. North Dulwich is the closest station to the private schools and nurseries in dulwich, and you don't see a high demand for parking there..
  16. If you have a dog you could run with your dog? I have a six o'clock in the morning job before school, and I take my dog when it's still dark to make me feel safer. It works!!!
  17. Same with us, still out :(
  18. If it had been a smaller dog, say a Jack Russell that had run up to you in the restaurant, I'm pretty positive in saying that you wouldn't consider making a complaint. Its unlikely that a dog that isn't trusted by its owner would be kept any near a commercial premises, where families and children would be welcome, and a reputation is at stake! I agree that it must of been terrifying for your children, and that it is wrong for a dog to be allowed net customers at all (let alone pee all over the place!)- but maybe this is a matter you should take up with the owner of the restaurant rather than the council.
  19. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, but I would always recommend Kens fish and chip shop on half moon lane. Chips always hand cut and cooked fresh, and ken and his son are always lovely! Kens kens kens!
  20. Chillaxed Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think > most would p*ss themselves and run away if you > stood up to them. I accept I may be dreaming, but > in my dreams I take these guys on or someone helps > me take these guys on Last Easter (2011) I was approached by a hooded man on a bike who was trying to start up a casual conversation. Due to my clear lack of interest in the conversation, he started to become increasing aggressive with the way he was acting, grabbing the food that i was eating out of my hand and then throwing the remains of it over me (!). I then, not so nicely asked him what the !?*<?$ he thought he was doing, and he grabbed my phone and my bag from my hands and tried to cycle off! As I held onto his bike as a matter of protest for the best of the following five minutes, punching me full pelt 4 times in the face, with the final punch loosening his grip on my belongings which fell to the floor and he cycled off! I remember while I was holding on to his bike and screaming insanities at him, I saw a resident in the house that looked over us calmly look to see what was going on and shut his curtains! I tried! I got a bust eyebrow and a horrific black eye, but hey, I got my phone and my bag and all of my belongings back! (and may I point out I was only 15 at the time and an innocent teenage girl!)
  21. MrCheeky Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the boot sael in dulwich hamlet is very busy now Sorry Mr Cheeky but you're wrong. It's not! It's like the car boot sale on Craggy Island.
  22. I didnt think it was still happening. Not very good turn out last few weeks and complaints from locals about field being used as a toilet! Not nice.
  23. Avoid Ritzy cos of 'parking issues'!!!! Good grief, 37 bus route all the way there. Within walking distance even! Done that with my 2 kids aged under 10 many times.
  24. Inside72 was really cool place- known to regulars as the 'student bar'. Excellent indy music playing, only place around you could find Makers Mark. Nothing poncey or pseudo about it back then. Aaaah.....those were the days!
