  1. Although I agree that the OP needs to provide any references or qualifications that they may have, I still think that ?15 for a walk is a reasonable price providing the dog gets an hour (at least!), has its poo's picked up, isn't left in a dog stuffed van while a few other dogs get walked, and is actually walked by the person you believe to be walking your dog. There are many local dog walking services that can afford to be charging competitive rates of around ?8-?10 because the original dog walker employs other people to pick up and walk your dogs. This is okay, as long as you've been informed that someone else will be walking your dog, but in a lot of cases, this doesn't happen. There are a lot of dog walkers in the area that also violate certain rules put in place by local parks, such as ensuring that dog poo is picked up the lack of attention payed to picking up poo by the employees of such companies who are just trying to make a living, have no interest in dogs or any wualifications for that matter has resulted to the 4-dog maximum for dog walkers in many parks. This new enforcement has left such companies (the larger ones who employ people to work for them) to bring all their dogs to the park, leaving them all in the van while they walk 4 at a time. This is bad enough, but in temperatures that we are beginning to experience, I think this is disgraceful. The truth is, with the cost of petrol, a dog walker being paid ?8 a walk can't afford to pick up and walk 4 dogs, ensuring that they are taken to different parks, and make a profit for their services. For those of you that think that ?15 isn't reasonable for a dog walk, I would suggest looking into your own dogs walker, and the services they provide. I know that I would rather pay more for a better quality service.
  2. Elmgrove- actually I think you'll find that these are the going rates now for walking, boarding and overnight stays. There are some dog walking companies locally that charge far more than this. Providing that the op provides a good service, these prices are very reasonable.
  3. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions! Stacey-Lynn- yes it's a shared hallway. Originally we thought the neighbours bike had been stolen too, but we discovered that they were out with theirs. Kylakevin- yes, will do! Westnorwoodboy- hope you got yours back!? Will try those sites, we're staying hopeful!
  4. My boyfriends metallic blue Carrera Virtuoso bike was stolen this morning from his hallway. Have reported it to the police, and checked auction sites etc, but if everyone could look out for a bike resembling the one in the attachment(!) it would be much appreciated, and a reward is being offered. The bike had customised bar ends and water bottle holder, both in matching metallic blue. Trying our best to get it back, and shocked and disgusted that the theives enetered the house in order to steal the bike! Have no idea how they entered but hopefully we will find out and be able to prevent this from happening again! Thanks! edited: forgot the attatchment, doh!

  7. The East Dulwich Grove Estate (EDGE) have a newly refurbished room for hire...
  8. Despite cowling and Wilcox in camberwell, I would be more than happy to see a local independent art and craft shop on the lane..
  9. North Dulwich is the closest station to the private schools and nurseries in dulwich, and you don't see a high demand for parking there..
  10. If you have a dog you could run with your dog? I have a six o'clock in the morning job before school, and I take my dog when it's still dark to make me feel safer. It works!!!
  11. Same with us, still out :(
  12. If it had been a smaller dog, say a Jack Russell that had run up to you in the restaurant, I'm pretty positive in saying that you wouldn't consider making a complaint. Its unlikely that a dog that isn't trusted by its owner would be kept any near a commercial premises, where families and children would be welcome, and a reputation is at stake! I agree that it must of been terrifying for your children, and that it is wrong for a dog to be allowed net customers at all (let alone pee all over the place!)- but maybe this is a matter you should take up with the owner of the restaurant rather than the council.
  13. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, but I would always recommend Kens fish and chip shop on half moon lane. Chips always hand cut and cooked fresh, and ken and his son are always lovely! Kens kens kens!

Due to my clear lack of interest in the conversation, he started to become increasing aggressive with the way he was acting, grabbing the food that i was eating out of my hand and then throwing the remains of it over me (!). I then, not so nicely asked him what the !?*<?$ he thought he was doing, and he grabbed my phone and my bag from my hands and tried to cycle off! As I held onto his bike as a matter of protest for the best of the following five minutes, punching me full pelt 4 times in the face, with the final punch loosening his grip on my belongings which fell to the floor and he cycled off! I remember while I was holding on to his bike and screaming insanities at him, I saw a resident in the house that looked over us calmly look to see what was going on and shut his curtains! I tried! I got a bust eyebrow and a horrific black eye, but hey, I got my phone and my bag and all of my belongings back! (and may I point out I was only 15 at the time and an innocent teenage girl!)

  16. I didnt think it was still happening. Not very good turn out last few weeks and complaints from locals about field being used as a toilet! Not nice.
  17. Avoid Ritzy cos of 'parking issues'!!!! Good grief, 37 bus route all the way there. Within walking distance even! Done that with my 2 kids aged under 10 many times.
  18. Inside72 was really cool place- known to regulars as the 'student bar'. Excellent indy music playing, only place around you could find Makers Mark. Nothing poncey or pseudo about it back then. Aaaah.....those were the days!
  19. If that was the state that the owner kept it in, i don't know how any body could treat an animal like that. It's disgusting. I hope she gets better.
