  1. Just reigniting this thread. My 4 year old sucks fingers, 2 year old sucks her thumb and just been to the dentist and told to try to make them stop. Have tried the thumbguard and nail varnish stuff but the screams were just too much for me!! Only on 4 year old... I am nervous about trying to stop something which they use to comfort, especially as 4 year old had just started school and has a lot going on. But then I worry about not doing anything.... You get really mixed messages about what to do. I also am aware I didn't suck at all and still had braces for 5 years!!!
  2. Just wanted to recommend John who's done a great job making our drafts ill fitting sashes look, sound and feel like different windows. No noise, no draft. Perfect. Much more impact than I imagined. I Found him on this forum and his service is great from start to finish, tidy, communicative, highly recommend. Really top bloke. 3. Ooh I've just ordered the Cox and Cox ones - great price thank you. Bless the EDF for solving all my problems :0)
  4. Another huge recommendation for Shanie. Had a "beauty MOT" tonight and am very happy with the results. Great service, flexible and lovely person. I will be booking more. Living in regret that I didn't do this during my mat leaves.
  5. Boring thread warning.... Wanting to get the above so my kids get used to putting their washing in themselves, and keeps it all separate for the nanny. Any recommmedations on a nice basket for their room (2 girls) would like to avoid Frozen if at all possible :0). I've seem a few (Hop Skip for example) but they look quite small, especially as my eldest will have a uniform from this week? Thanks in advance!
  6. Anyone know somewhere/someone who can supply a good marble fireplace? We are hoping to replace 2 matching so while I would love reclaimed I don't think that's going to work. Please pm with any recommendations. Thanks in advance!!
  7. Hi we need someone to come and take a look at our sashes, to draft proof etc as well as replacing a patio door at the back of our double reception. Any recommendations? Thanks
  8. Another vote for Riverford, they've recently started meal boxes which we get about 50% of the time in addition to the fruit and veg (and milk, cheese, porridge, oils - actually most things!) and would really recommend them, they give you all the ingredients you need for each meal on the right proportions, and means you make healthy, balanced, delicious meals without having to think too much (which for me is always the hard bit!!)
  9. Hi is The Dish open today and are they fully in the swing now and doing a full service? Desperate to go back!
  10. Any good recommmedations to go with preschoolers who love to swim and eat? Not too hot and not too far!! Thanks all!
  11. You Tube!! Why didn't I think of that one!! I'll check that out initially - that's all! EP that looks great I might look in to it myself! Thanks all x
  12. Before you think I am a horrible boss, this isn't a post saying "my nanny can't cook!"! :0) My wonderful nanny is really keen on learning to cook more. Hubby and I enjoy cooking and we like the kids to eat fresh stuff, and often cook in the evening for the kids meals the next day. My nanny is keen on learning to cook more, and I was wondering if there were and classes around that people would recommend to get her some initial confidence? Nothing fancy at all, I would love to spend time to help her but by definition we don't have much time together. Any ideas gratefully received!
  13. Biogaia is great, look online. I used for colic etc (life changing) but I thinkit's the same one as you mentioned. Also great to give, a few tasteless drops and has vit D in too. Good luck :0) http://www.biogaia.co.uk/about-probiotics
  14. I've had lots of structural stuff done in the house, but now on to the reception room. We need someone to put together a concept for us, from start to finish including (we imagine) - redoing cornice - colour scheme - draft proofing and painting windows - replacing french door - replacing rads - replacing fire surrounds - sofas - rugs - art work - TV solution - shelving I work full time so would love someone to be able to take on as much of this as possible (or at least coordinate efforts!). Please get in touch if you've done something like this before? Thanks
  15. Recently our 3yo ends up in our bed every night. She still has to get up to the loo which breaks her sleep and it's then she wants to come to our bed. Always had both kids in my bed at various times but now I'm ready to get her out if I can (I am tired and my back hurts) Anyone else got any tips? Sticker charts? I am also thinking about putting her in to share with her sibling in the hope she won't get lonely. She also sucks her fingers whilst asleep which I need help on stopping too! Pearls of wisdom greatfully received.
  16. After being back at work after mat leave exercise is just not happening. Does anyone use someone for training/Pilates/yoga in the evenings during the week that they can recommend. I think id like 1:1 and ideally at my house to avoid getting a babysitter. Please pm if you have the answer!! :0)
  17. On the subject of Dorothy, I think she's opening a new shop in FH soon but I don't think we can see her over half term (please let me know if you've managed to!). My 3 year old needs new shoes before being back at school, so if Biff my best alternative. she currently has Clarks but I too always feel a lot better when Dorothy measures the kids.
  18. My (amazing) new nanny has asked for paint and a mat for messy play over half term. Managed to find a lovely mat and aprons on Etsy, but where locally sells washable paint? Just Williams? AJ Farmer? Thanks
  19. Planning a holiday in February half term next year, and thinking Dubai. After a couple of years with no holidays we deserve a bit of a treat! Any suggestions for places to stay? Girls will be 3.5 years and nearly 2. Thanks in advance!!
  20. Thanks, already tried both to no avail. Website just gives term dates and no one in at the school :0(
  21. My 3yo starts DPL in September. The term starts on Thursday 4th but I seem to remember (but don't have the paperwork) that the nursery kids don't start til Friday 5th. Anyone out there much more organised than me know the scoop? Were in Red room but I imagine it's consistent for all! Thanks
  22. Promised to take little one shopping and no idea what time H&M opens in Brixton on bank holiday - can't get through and nothing(that I can see) on website. Help anyone? Ta
  23. Thank you all, really helpful. We ideally don't want to go down the au pair route (yet) simply cos while we could accommodate, it would be a bit of a squeeze! I think a loft conversion is needed before that! Monkey - my youngest is going to DUCKS and my elder DPL. It's nice to know I am not the only one who's been through this (although sometimes it feels like it!). Fushia - negotiating with work will be tricky. I am hoping to be able to pick up one day a week (and drop off all days) but other than that I don't think I'll get much more. Fun fun fun....! X
