  1. Someone with a misdirected motion detecting security light? My neighbour has one on her she'd roof which lights up the spare room every time a fox strolls by
  2. Our house has an extravagant Acpustic Solutions turntable and a more user friendly Linn (which I'd like to sell). If I was going for a simple entry level decent turntable I'd go for Pro-Ject Elemental. Gets the Which? Best buy and is around ?150.
  3. If there was a 'like' button, Louisa, I'd press it. And if you'd looked in on Pexmas on Warwick Gardens, that would have been reinforced in spades. Don't get me wrong, great event, lovely people, really enjoyed it. But the 500 yards from Rye Lane could have been 500 miles. And that just felt a bit odd.
  4. Walked past at 12pm today en route to station. Queue for the free burgers was ridiculous. kind of felt a bit sad that 250 free burgers couldn't have gone to people who could really do with free food.
  5. Also some on Bell ended Rd outside the launderette
  6. I always enjoy Iain Banks sci go stuff
  7. Think they're due to be finishing the evil roadworks that are stopping E & C from being a roundabout and going to two way traffic.
  8. Spotted a new charcuterie type place on Blenheim Grove today - Serious Pig.
  9. I did this two years ago. My new mortgage was with Nationwide. All organised via a broker (made things by easy). I used the Nationwide conveyancer. No problems whatsoever, no hidden fees and no disbursements or searches. Overall was quite happy.
  10. Cheers people. I have a reasonable LTV so can get 2.4% ish for a five year fix. Toying with certainty of that v 3 year deal on better rate and trying to be disciplined enough to try try and overpay. Which I wont! So longer certainty probably best.
  11. Ah. To be honest, we didn't ask. We might already have had one or two. But they were kind enough to bring us ice so didn't seem bothered!
  12. Curious to see how others are thinking about this before I speak to my IFA. Current fixed deal coming to an end so need a new deal. I want to stay on a fixed rate rather than tracker so the choice seems to be another two year deal on a very low rate or a longer fix with rate getting progressively higher. the gamble is whether the longer fix will beat any rise in rates. I know no one knows what will really happen but what sort of deal would you go for in same position?
  13. Tried two new Peckham places yesterday. First, the pop-up bar by Pedlar people in the railway arches behind Bar Story on Blenheim Grove. They have two arches: one seems a bit canteen like and has a hot dog chap selling his wares; the one next door is more bar like, with a slimmed down range of Pedlar cocktails, wine and beer. All based around the lovely Little Bird Gin. Lovely staff working there although I felt a bit sorry for them as they were clearly freezing! First time I've ever been offered a hot water bottle in a bar before.... Anyway, great place for a drink if you wrap up warm. Open noon - 6 Sat and Sun only. Second, and after more gin at Rye Wax, we went to Flaming Mangal, the new Turkish ocakbasi place on Rye Lane. This has only been open since Thursday I think. Very very quiet but I guess no one knows it's there yet. It's got loads of seats and was very bright. Bit too bright for me but...staff were again smashing, food was solid (collectively we had variety of starters, shish and veggie dishes) and all left happy and full. Not as good as FM Mangal for me, but perfectly fine and not as far to walk! BYOB too.
  14. Didn't see it but heard it, thought I was dreaming so glad to hear I wasnt!
  15. Looks like a new ocakbasi Turkish place will be opening soon on Rye Lane Flamin Mangal.
  16. Certainly how it would work in my building (two flats). To be honest, I'd want to be in on the surveyor and cost so I had full access to the results and a say in who was used.
  17. I clearly didn't then
  18. Girls on Film - Duran Duran (Hope i got rules right...)
  19. Horrid stinky things. I try to avoid if at all possible
  20. Yep. Twice. First time I thought service was poor, atmosphere weird and drinks expensive. But that was close to opening so I gave it another chance a while later. Sadly, found it the same. But others like it, and the food, so might be that it's just not my cup of tea.
  21. Try this too http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/split-cheap-train-tickets/
  22. They will stay in the wardrobe where they are at present.....
  23. Yes, think you're right KK, was more just the concept. Thanks Foxy, that's helpful.
