I'm afraid jimlad48 they are enforceable public health regulations. Advice and guidance would not be enough in a national emergency and the police would not be able to enforce them, issue fines or take you to court if your trangression were serious enough. You can read about them here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/police-given-new-powers-and-support-to-respond-to-coronavirus and https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/c19/coronavirus-covid-19/the-new-police-powers/.
  2. Hi, could you contact them and see if, given the lockdown, they will convert your gift card to an e-giftcard which can be used online & in store? If they are a decent business they will try to do the right thing given the current circumstances. If they don't I would contact CAB or one of the consumer journalists on the Guardian etc. and try and get them to intervene.
  3. That was a very distressing case. Have donated.
  4. Could you post a picture for those of us stuck indoors, please!!!
  5. Source: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/may/01/historic-england-launches-coronavirus-lockdown-photography-project 'The British public is being invited to contribute to a national collection of photographs billed as a ?unique time capsule for the future?, which will show future generations what the Covid-19 lockdown was like for everyday people. The week-long project, which was launched by Historic England on Wednesday and runs until Tuesday 5 May, encourages people to share images that reveal how they are dealing with lockdown, self-isolation and social distancing. Ten artists, including Scottee, based in Southend on Sea, and photographers Chloe Dewe Mathews, based in St Leonards-on-Sea, and Coralie Datta, based in Leeds, have also been asked to participate and they will produce ?special images?. 100 of the submitted photographs and images will be inducted into the Historic England Archive. Claudia Kenyatta, the director of regions at Historic England, said the project was a chance to ?record history? and ?create a unique time capsule for the future? during one of the most extraordinary moments in living memory. She said: ?We want people to show us their experiences of lockdown, how places local to them have transformed, communities have come together, and life has changed for us all. ?These challenging times are encouraging us all to pause and reflect upon our relationship with our surroundings. We hope this project inspires creativity and reflection, allowing the public create a unique time capsule for the future.? The final selection of images will be made up of 50 of the most ?evocative, informative and inspiring? images submitted by the public and 50 works from the contemporary artists, which will be catalogued by the Historic England Archive and be available online. It is the first time the British public has been asked to contribute to the archive, which contains more than 12m photographs taken since 1939, when the social research organisation Mass Observation collected accounts of everyday life during wartime...'

  8. Hi All, I had a Sainsburys delivery yesterday Tuesday 28th between 1-2pm and received a jar of something I had not ordered or paid for in my bags. If you were expecting a jar of something yesterday around that time, paid for, but did not receive it please let me know what it was and we'll work out how best to get it to you. I did notify customer services, so if you phoned for a refund it would have been notified to the local store on the system. It is not something I eat, so if I cannot reunite it in the next few days or so I'll donate it to a foodbank. Updated: I have now donated the item to the Sainsburys foodbank collection

I am Acting Inspector in the interim between Mr Pyle moving to pastures new and Mr Cornish beginning the week after next. Please find below the briefing note for Friday 24th April. 13. I live in an old conversion and washing machine noise can be a real issue if on too early or late. Personally I don't run mine before 9am or after 9pm, but one set of neighbours regularly does. There are rubber mats and absorber feet you can use under washing machines to try to mitigate the noise, especially the vibrations. Unfortunately at the moment the Noise Team is working from home and not making visits, but they are available on the usual number/email to talk to. Have you tried approaching your neighbours to see if they realise their disturbing you in your bedroom? Maybe they don't realise just how much noise is transferring through walls & floors to your flat.

You can also buy Arden Grange liver pate which also hides meds very well. Both available in normal times at the Neighbourhood Vets, but also on ebay. I have never had much success with a pill gun. If you can't find any, let me know and I can let you have some to start you off.
  15. https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/healthy-at-home/john-lewis-waitrose-soft-toy-design-competition-a4421266.html John Lewis and Waitrose are inviting UK kids to design a soft toy to raise funds for the NHS,. Children and adults across the nation have been invited to share their designs for a ?super bear? cuddly soft toy that celebrates the spirit of our frontline heroes during the coronavirus pandemic. The winning design will be turned into an exclusive Christmas toy sold from October this year, with 100 per cent of the profits going to the NHS. To enter your kid?s design, either email a picture of the design or send a picture in the post to either John Lewis or Waitrose, or share an image of the design on Instagram or Twitter, using the hashtag #DesignYourSuperBear and tag the relevant John Lewis and Waitrose handles. The competition launches tomorrow, Friday April 24, and marks the start of the partnership's ?Feel Good Friday? campaign, designed to bring the nation together during this time of isolation. Each Friday, the partnership will focus on one skill or pastime, like gardening, baking, fitness and mindfulness, and work with celebrities and charities to share the feel-good content on its social media feeds. Martin George, Marketing Director for the John Lewis Partnership, comments: ?The acts of gratitude demonstrated by the public towards frontline workers, from the thousands of ?thank you? pictures to Thursday evening clapping, shows how deep our nation?s love for the NHS goes. We?ve already been supporting the NHS and critical workers in a number of ways, but we want to make a lasting contribution that demonstrates our appreciation for those who are on the front line. ?We hope this competition will help inspire the nation?s children to put pencil to paper and encourage many to submit their creations, while helping us give something back to our wonderful National Health Service and frontline workers.?

"My Hero Is You" was developed with thousands of children and caregivers across the world, and the messaging was developed with a global team of psychologists at the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings. The project was supported by global, regional and country based experts from Member Agencies of the IASC MHPSS RG, in addition to parents, carers, teachers and children in 104 countries. A global survey was distributed in Arabic, English, Italian, French and Spanish to assess children?s mental health and psychosocial needs during the COVID-19 outbreak. A framework of topics to be addressed through the story was developed using the survey results. The book was shared through storytelling to children in several countries affected by COVID-19. Feedback from children, parents and caregivers was then used to review and update the story. "My Hero Is You" is available to download from the Inter-Agency Standing Committee website.'

  22. Date: 20/04/2020 11:59 am (GMT+00:00) To: Cc: [email protected] Subject: Update on Southwark neighbourhood inspector role Update for community contacts Hello all. I just wanted to provide a quick update as to the inspector role on Southwark safer neighbourhoods. At the end of this week I leave Southwark to move onto a new role within the Met. I?ve been on Southwark for almost two and a half years and have really enjoyed the challenges that the borough has presented ? there?s certainly never a dull moment here! With this in mind after this week you will no longer receive briefing notes or community newsletters from me. My replacement, who I have copied into this email, is Inspector Tom Cornish. He has significant experience in neighbourhood policing, having spent a number of years working as a neighbourhood sergeant in Lambeth, and has most recently been a duty inspector on Southwark so knows the borough well. Tom starts in the role from Monday 4th May. Next week you will receive briefing notes from one of the ward sergeants who will be covering for the week. However after Friday, please direct anything that would have been sent to me through to Tom, who will do his best to answer or put you in touch with the right person. I?d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and assistance. I know many of you have been working in your local areas for many years; without people like yourselves we would often struggle to reach some of our communities and be unable to deal with the issues and problems that they face. We greatly appreciate your hard work and support ? we certainly couldn?t do our jobs with you. Be safe. It?s been a pleasure.
