A load of boys had broken into Tesco on East Dulwich road and were sharing out beer amongst themselves - I really wanted to take photos (worked for a media company then) - but it would have provoked them. Strangely not a very threatening atmosphere - just chaotic. Not really history though (2011).

    Football Focus

Absolute joke of a refereeing performance at Swansea yesterday. I think Curtis will have to retire through stress - he was just beginning to enjoy it too :)
  3. Well looks like the World Medical Association has given support to the junior Doctors now. Not that the Government will care.
  4. I generally support NHS workers. But my work colleagues general consensus is how can anyone strike in this day and age. You get higher wages by moving on - so you need private negotiation to create a wage market. You never ever get higher wages in the job you're in - other than cost of living increases sometimes.
  5. It is difficult driving around East Dulwich/Peckham until you know the layout. Sometimes counterintuitive.
  6. Actually seeing the above thread - maybe it's all those famous people in Sainsburys ;)
  7. Happened to me once - over-revved the car in annoyance after 30 minutes in a queue and it made a hideous smell and almost broke the cat - but once out wasn't to bothered. No point in holding on to the annoyance of a queue :) But Why does the pedestrian crossing go red as I exit.

I remember going in on carnival day and thinking what are all these men doing :)
  10. Here's a freedom of Information request made by a person remarked on above back in 2010 https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/yellow_box_junction_size I noted "A total of 3,048 PCNs were issued in the Peckham/High St/Peckham Bus station for contraventions between 5 January 2010 until 21 August 2010."
  11. Workmen had the front of "John the Unicorn" open this morning. Maybe putting in windows or such. Still doesn't look like a bar inside yet.

Mind you - this was in the Guardian (referring to Khan) - Can't see it happening :). "They will use the mayor?s planning powers to ensure half of the homes in any new development are genuinely affordable, stop developers selling off new properties to investors before they are finished, and set up a not for profit London-wide letting agency that would reduce fees and offer tenants longer term lets." http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/oct/26/government-housing-bill-accelerate-crisis-says-sadiq-khan

  14. Maybe they will take/took some time to get the traffic light sequences right. or maybe there are still NY stragglers.
  15. Agreed - I'd be happy if that progressed. But Summer will fall back to Autumn I guess (usually does).
  16. Can't a big plaque be put up with all the removed names and dates listed (taking up a corner or such) ? and the old graves documented and photographed.

  18. What do the current residents of OKR think about "impending" gentrification and speculation. Will people be forced out, will there be compulsory purchase ?

Yes - nothing against festivals - but if it was fenced off for a while then the local community has to benefit. They fence off quite a large bit at Clapham (Clapham Common is big though).

Seen as mugger tunnels - but I never had an issue. I walked across the road and dodged traffic to get to the Rockingham Arms. Seemed to be no Pedestrian Crossings yet - Won't do that again :)

The guy/girl who says nothing all bus journey but as the door opens to get out strikes up a conversation with a long lost mate whilst everyone waits to move on :)

This is perfectly achievable . This does to some extent show why the Bussey made such a big thing of the 133 Rye Lane development and Canavan's the same now.
