  1. Same here. Also have BT as my broadband provider. Here is the screen I get...
  2. Am I the only person who thinks this is astonishing - who on earth steals litter bins on this sort of scale? Lambeth Council trying to bolster its own stocks (not a serious suggestion before anyone leaps on it)? Someone wanting to use them on private grounds? I just don't get what the perceived benefit is for stealing this many litter bins - are they metal/can they be scrapped - is that it?
  3. I think I heard this earlier today. It doesn't appear to be going all the time - just intermittently. I got in from work at 2am (ugh) and it was silent but it started up around 6am and then again at 8am. I don't think it's the shops - or if it is - it's coming from the back of the parade. Sounded more to me like it was coming from Streamline Mews, but difficult to tell.
  4. I got the same. The cynic in me says so that they can weight/discount the views of those who live a bit further away from the Old Kent Road... ;-)

Was it this screen you saw? Getting this on Safari iOS hanging for about 10 seconds tonight. Not seen it before.
  6. > The 'new' ED police station used to be where they > kept all the emergency firearms for Southwark > Police officers. Nice quiet area with little risk > of police station being over run. I always wondered about that logic, since everyone seemed to know there was a firearms unit based there...indeed it is/was listed in a load of gamekeeper and other country pursuits directories. http://www.directoryofgamekeeping.com/search/categories/26/

  8. Not if the patient consents - I certainly wouldn't expect any info to be shared without that. However, my surgeon asked me if I was happy to share my before and after as she does with all her patients (which I was). And I'd also be happy to give her a recommendation if she contacted me and asked me if I would be willing to speak to a prospective patient. Most people wouldn't hire a builder or architect without asking to see photos of previous jobs, and I'm considerably more concerned about how my face looks than my house! Plenty of my clients ask for references when they first instruct me. It just really surprised me that some surgeons/clinics point blank refused to even consider how they could provide me with any evidence of how the procedure I needed would be in practice.
  9. This makes me very happy. Lived just up the road from Simon the Tanner before we made the move here - through a few difficult incarnations, including an attempted freeholder redevelopment to residential based on ridiculous grounds (from memory). Good to hear it's doing well. The Royal Oak on Tabard Street round the corner also used to be great for unfussy pub food and beer - doubt it's changed much since we left.
  10. Foxy, it's not that you're down on all businesses, but you definitely come across to me, from your comments, as someone who plainly preferred LL as it was 5, 10 or 15 years ago and would rather it went back to that. And your list of businesses above rather reinforces that to me.
  11. Your best contact is user IngridB of DPG who led the Dulwich Street Art project - she may have some ideas or contacts for you. Send her a private message perhaps. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/profile.php?5,2990
  12. I can't help with a recommendation for a rhinoplasty, but I did have to consult a plastic surgeon for something completely different recently (large, facial mole removal). My advice would be to ask anyone you're planning to use, not just to give you glossy testimonials but ask if they have previous clients who would be prepared to speak with you about their experience of the procedure you want to have, or would provide a no-names but specific recommendation for the procedure. It was quite surprising to me but a number of the surgeons I consulted flat out refused to show me "real client" before and after pictures or would even consider consulting their previous clients to ask them to give a recommendation I could see. I went with a surgeon whose office was prepared to do this, and I've been extremely happy with the results.

My experience is very different. Every low flying noisy flight that has woken me up is a late-running London City flight. It may just be where I am, but they seem much louder and jarring especially the prop planes.
  15. Can I just say this is a great/timely thread. Having snapped the heel off a much loved work/court shoe yesterday, I was wondering where best to replace it with something that doesn't have a stripper heel (as put above) but isn't a boring plain black shoe and Van Dal looks like a pretty good option for me. Will report back.

There were not so many people around then - although still difficult to move around with all the umbrellas up. Not the best conditions for photos, but I got a couple of good ones.

This is beyond a joke especially as > national rail 10 mins ago said 'no delays' Isn't that because all the information is being incorrectly displayed this am, due to a computer error? I caught a 9:04 train which was described as the 7:38, but was definitely the 9:04.

KittyPurry, Good chance your post contains a banned word - some of these are not obvious and are to protect the forum from spam. "kitchen" is a good example. Try rewording what you want to say and then posting.
  22. We got a femtocell to improve mobile reception at home - runs over wifi and works brilliantly. T-Mobile (and I think other companies) sell them as an add on (you have to have the right femtocell for your mobile network) but if you make enough of a fuss about your reception you may get one on a complimentary basis. The other thing is have you thought about upgrading to 4G. I recently did and have been astonished about how much better mobile reception is. All the 3G blackspots near us have good 4G coverage. It's almost as if they run the 3G network down in places to force you to upgrade to 4G *conspiracy face*. Appreciate it's not ideal to upgrade on the chance that it might improve things, but it did seem to work really well in my case. Edited because I can't spell conspiracy...
  23. James, were council officers clear with you that this is an option which can be chosen or not by residents who are putting in a drop (which is what seems to be suggested by your "Southwark Council now offer double yellow lines...)? If so, that's totally inconsistent with what I and my neighbours (who are putting in a drop) have been told by the Council. We have both been told double yellows are now mandatory on "safety grounds". Appreciate you're not only focused on this issue, but if we could get some clarity around option/mandatory that would be really helpful.
