    Milk

Here's what Sainsbury have said on the issue: http://www.j-sainsbury.co.uk/mobile-latest-news/%5Cmobilenewsarticle?id=6829
  2. Some photos and video here. Happy to host other snaps or video if people want - PM me for an upload link which will let you add to this album.
  3. Ah, that's helpful guidance actually. I thought from previous posts we were supposed to use the report button to highlight problems which Admin might not otherwise see, rather than it being for emergencies only. So if someone posts a link to a spam or virus-laden site, I tend to report it. I'm guessing from what you say, that I shouldn't.
  4. It's a bit odd to be sure, because I phoned up this am looking for an appointment with the nurse practitioner (different from a doctor, I know) and was offered an appointment for late tomorrow afternoon. Maybe they have doctors out this week on holiday? Also, the surgery picked up on the second ring (having gone through the voice answering machine, press 1 for appointments thing). I don't go to the surgery often, but my experiences with FH Practice is generally pretty good.

This is a privately owned, not for profit site, which the owners let us use at their convenience, subject to everyone playing by the rules. And even if people don't play by the rules, it's pretty much up to them what they let go on and what they don't. You're not paying for advertising your stuff (query if you've donated to help keep the site running - which a lot of regular users to help cover running costs?). I keep hearing this "I have rights" (not just from you), any I just don't get it. Don't like the rules, don't use the site. Article 11 - Freedom of Expression doesn't extend to helping you profit from selling goods btw, whether that's on a public or private site. It's a bit more ******* fundamental than that.

    Milk

I thought Sainsbury "own brand" milk was ok, or at least not amongst the worst offenders - Sainsbury increased the price paid following a new price deal on cost of production earlier this year, and they've publicly said they support fair pricing for dairy farmers?
  7. As far as I can see from the Great Exhibition's twitter feed, the music was not organised by them, but was impromptu from the Dulwich Uke club at 8.30pm on a summer Saturday night. A link is here so people can form their own views. I thought it sounded fab from the place it was recorded from, but then I wasn't sitting right next to their table.
  8. It's a tough call whether to dial 999 or not. I had a similar situation recently when I went into my neighbours' garden to ask two men what they were doing there. They left quietly and I called 101 (non-emergency number). Got a visit from police 40 mins later, which I thought was good. And then lots more follow up in pm when it became clear neighbours' car had been broken into and keys stolen from it. The police were clear they would have been fine if I'd dialled 999, but they agreed it was more suitable for 101.
  9. I have some video....will find a place to post it. Can I also say a massive thanks to everyone for making our guest Amanda USA (or "The Pink Blur" as she was christened) feel so welcome. She "had a blast" and is looking forward to introducing Barriet to New York (and she promises to return her next year).
  10. Looks I will be there cheering on too! Was supposed to be doing Dulwich Gallery with the (21 year old) daughter of an American friend. Turns out she'd much rather come to this (who would have thought it). And, fair warning gentlemen, she is, and I'm quoting here, her "college beer mile champion"...will see if we might have a US team entry...
  11. dwhite11, I'm certainly happy to be educated - no axe to grind here, although I have also followed the legal process with some interest and am directly aware of some related matters. I may well be not fully informed, hence my question to you but struggling with any suggestion of defamatory, particularly in respect of Mr Laxman (which seems to be your particular concern), as he hasn't been involved in anything I've posted about (so far as I am aware) not least because he wasn't the owner of any of the property at the relevant time. I'm afraid I'm still a bit confused by your answer though. Agree that the CPO of the concrete house was a separate issue from WGH and note that Mr Laxman has never been the owner of the Concrete House. But my query was specifically about the feedback posted on this board from the CPO hearing: "On the day council officers were able to prove that the person claiming to be the agent of the owner who allegedly lives in India was and is the owner...The agent/owner then withdrew their opposition, probably under counsels advice, to the Compulsory Purchase Order. The game was up." So my question to you was whether you know if this happened or not - or does your investigation/attendance only relate to the process at WGH and not to the CPO of the Concrete House? My confusion I think is whether Mr Laxman was acting as Mr Chandra's agent at this point or not. I had understood he was, but I gather you believe not?
  12. dwhite11, if you were present at the enquiry, do you have any comment on the feedback from Southwark Council officers (via one of our local councillors) re the identity of the owner and the outcome of the CPO process? My understanding of this post was the owner pretended, up to and including part way through the enquiry, to be someone else who was acting as the agent of the owner. And the owner then withdrew his opposition to the CPO. Which is quite an odd thing to do, if everything is as clear and straightforward as you suggest. Can you confirm if the owner (presumably Mr Laxman) withdrew from opposing the CPO or was a decision in respect of the CPO made against him in the face of his active opposition? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,410066,413683#msg-413683
  13. Another (slightly belated) recommendation for Andy - he came at short notice to look at some problems in our bathroom and gave us some practical advice about diagnosing the issues further before he would recommend any work. No unnecessary work, and he didn't charge us for the visit or the advice. We will definitely use him in future.
  14. I was thinking the same. My abiding memory was the local pharmacy suggesting it would open longer hours including evenings and weekends, as a way of opposing the application. If I remember correctly, the offer of extended hours didn't last long after the application was turned down. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,48351,page=15
  15. Gotcha. Afraid, I can't help you there - they keep their other forum identities quite separate from their Administrator role for obvious reasons. Kind of a "we are Legion" thing. My understanding is it came about when the size and complexity of the Forum became too much for one person.
  16. As I understand it, the Forum is a privately owned/run, not for profit, service which is offered to local people who live/work in the area of ED and surrounds, on the understanding that users agree to comply with certain basic rules. Enforcement of those rules as Administrator is done by a group of volunteers (not me) at the request of the owner. As dbboy says, I think they do a great job and I'm grateful to have the forum as it is - a useful, free, local resource. Any particular reason for your query?
  17. Well, it's not like this forum has a solid core of regular users, with memories like elephants and a good eye for spotting spam or astroturfing posts, who will from henceforth go out of their way to comply with the letter of forum rules, whilst making quite clear what they think of this kind of approach... Oh.
  18. Have a look in the About this Forum section. Admin has explained the position there. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,915499 and http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,27350,page=28 (about half way down)

As for the ETSNBN, speaking hypothetically you understand, for every negative comment which might come up on forums like this there were several corresponding positive reviews and reviewers. Which will all have been deleted. And won't ever be reposted. Hmmm...
  20. Although I'm impressed by the firm ability to ignore (or inability to read) the About this Forum section:
  21. 20 years after I first read it, till makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.... Rather at once our time devour Than languish in his slow-chapt power. Let us roll all our strength and all Our sweetness up into one ball, And tear our pleasures with rough strife Thorough the iron gates of life: Thus, though we cannot make our sun Stand still, yet we will make him run.

    London Mayor

Results due tomorrow evening some time after 6pm. Were a fair few people when I turned up at my station at 7am, waiting for it to open.
  23. Just to say I upgraded this week from a 3GS to a 4GS without any problems at all - everything got copied over without a hitch, including old texts, apps, contacts - except my music (which I manage manually rather than via iTunes). I upgraded the software of the new 4GS first (over the air), then backed up the 3GS (not to iCloud, via iTunes to my laptop), disconnected the 3GS, then connected the 4GS to iTunes/laptop. iTunes asked if I wanted to restore everything to the new phone, I said yes, sorted. Hope this helps.
  24. Same here, at least for initial treatment - for the reasons pablogrande explained. Subsequent treatments not. Maybe take shorts and vest top in for future appointments if it makes you uncomfortable.
  25. lulu, there was a long thread on this last year which gives quite a bit of info - worth searching for. There were a lot of different opinions and a bit of trolling from memory but it's worth reading the whole thread. People who are actually involved in the YOS or similar schemes had some interesting and helpful info.
