  1. haha (he says, suddenly fearing you aren't joking...) thanks Nero, thats made my day. although i fear it's going to be flats instead which will somewhat mark the end of the space as a parade.
  2. i tried the outside last night and i nearly got my trainers dirty! i do think the 'road' surface is bad to run on there as i had a sore knee when i got back last night. if you run past me i'll wheeze, grimace and sweat.
  3. no MR, i'm doing greenwich in a few weeks time. i've just got back from a run in the park though and i really don't like it. i tend to run around roads in the area which i love, but the park just turns me off. don't know if its because there's so many runners in there or the surface or something but i find it a really unsatisfying run. ? /mytwopenneth/
  4. yes, everyone who offers a service like someone else should go away. comrade karter and his commissar colleagues will be rouns soon making sure....oh, wait a minute, we live in a free country. silly old me, i'm always making that mistake.
  5. register with this bunch Tillie, most of my cold calls disappeared after that. http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/
  6. yes MW74, i also would hate to be in a small business in the current climate, which is why i work for a big organisation with all the downsides that are attached to that state of affairs. the reason i do that is that those downsides are less damaging to me than the stress of working independently / freelance. but i don't complain about those downsides because i choose to do it.
  7. contentious one: you can't be picky about the type of capitalism you get, independents and larger companies are part of the same system. live by the sword, die by the sword. or get a bigger sword.
  8. just to add to the saga, i heard from someone the other day that white stuff have chucked it in due to problems with the landlord.
  9. bromide in the water system. if it had been done 5 years ago i might be enjoying things such as sleep, house space, disposable income and the ability to live somewhere other than within 4.2 metres of a good school - whatever that is. oh, and i would have been able to shop in ED deli, which i'm prohibited from doing at present.
  10. would the dog be an example of what you're talking about bob? i can't really think of any others in the 21, 22, 23 area.
  11. the lesson here is that buses are for people who don't actually have to be somewhere at a specific time. unless you leave half an hour early at least.
  12. i did appeal to the rail ombudsman or whoever it was and was told that they had satisfied their official duties and found me liable and no furtther correspondance would be entered into. i thought about handing it to a lawyer but its 20 quid and i can't be bothered with the hassle - or wish to risk my credit rating with a ccj - which no doubt they bank on happening with law-abiding types.
  13. yes, the staff stand nice and safe next to the ticket booth nicking people who are honest enough to go and try and buy a ticket. the one's who aren't going to cause them trouble. something similar struck me recently, that the police these days don't patrol areas at certain times of day if they're a bit dangerous. why do we want police / law enforcement staying out of the way of trouble? that's our job. one suspects people these days just do the absolute minimum for the absolute maximum return. ho hum.
  14. i'm new to this Oyster card mullarky and popped into town, i wasn't sure whether i could use it on the overland so i asked at ED if you could use an Oyster card and was told yes, at the LB turnstiles they said i couldn't because it was a prepay, so i went over to the ticket booth to buy a ticket whereby i was nabbed by 2 security people standing in front of it and given a ?20 fine. I complained and was told that it was the passengers responsibility so ensure their ticket is valid prior to travel and that no further correspondance would be entered into. So, like ensuring your ticket is valid by ASKING THE TRAIN COMPANY EMPLOYEE IF THE FUNNING TICKET WAS VALID?? Clearly, after asking the train company employee i should have gone home and checked on the intenet under the terms and conditions of the Oyster card AND the train company that i could travel. silly old me, eh?
  15. Yeah, i might be interested, my team folded last year because i was just too good for everyone we played.* *statement may contain less than 100% facts
  16. the 'new' plough will actually be closer to dulwich park than the dog and so will be frequented by all the park goers that come back through the court lane gate. so that should give you some idea of what its going to be like. i really hated the plough until i went in there and then found it full of friendly poeple, this was in the last year though. before the 21 age limit and the no drug dealing policy shirts were definitely optional and skunk was on tap in the garden.
  17. I really wanted this to happen - about a year ago then i started going in there and found it ok, especially for footie nights. i also question the need for another gastropub, i liked the spit, sawdust and ?2.45 guiness. if anything, this should help the top of LL area in general though.
  18. hey Nero, what did the lady from tescos say?
  19. why have speed cameras when a couple of mini round-abouts would solve both the accident and speeding problem?
  20. Landells Road was named after one of the founders of Punch magazine, Ebenezer Landells, an engraver. No idea why the road was named after him though.
  21. i'm hoping you're the dad nutty and weren't planning to compete in a triathalon at 30 weeks pregnant. i did the NCT class in herne hill / brixton - corner of morval road and dulwich road as i remember. one thing i found was that the NCT 'leader' was something of a natural birth nazi and frowned on any discussion of bottle feeding or over-medicalisation of birth, which some peoeple liked and some didn't. and she had her 2-3 year old walking into the room to breast feed on occasions, which freaked us all out a bit at the time. at the time i suspected they did some 'streaming' of the class to get more like-minded people in, or maybe they didn't and it's the fear of birth that makes your own type of crazy seem just like other expectant parent's.
  22. NOOOOOOOO! that would be very bad news indeed, i hate tescos but i'd be bound to end up spending money there as its at the end of the road. i might have to get some placards out for this one - anyone for a picket?
  23. as they say on their website http://www.esphysicalhealth.com/main.asp
  24. so that'll be about half a million quid from the lottery then, if the dulwich park 'improvements' are anything to go by
  25. no, but might you be the person to let us know more?
