When do I say I'm not returning to work??
Strawbs replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
At my place it is 8 weeks before you plan to return at which point you won't be getting any stat anyway in your case as just stretch it out to the full 12m. They can then pay you your outstanding leave etc in your final pay. Alternatively you can choose to use it before you go back. Hope that helps x -
I a got a baby jogger city select and now baby Strawbs is in the seat I love it! Toddler Strawbs is 3 in October and happy in it. It has 16 diff combinations and can be a single too which is ideal for me as toddler Strawbs at nursery 3 days a week. Dropped kerbs are a pain but I just use my foot on the bottom bar to push it up and it's fine. I wanted a baby jogger side by side but it wouldn't fit though my door and actually I'm glad I don't have a wide pram now as it's the width of a single. X

Putting a baby to nap with a toddler around
Strawbs replied to Convex's topic in The Family Room Discussion
In the vein of sling sleeping I have found a great play group for toddlers on a Monday and Friday called muddy boots, we go on a Monday only but as you are walking through nature and searching for snails and worms I find baby Strawbs sleeps the whole time whilst toddler Strawbs gets a great outing and then it's home for lunch and he sleeps, leaves me with just one for a couple of hours x -

Hey Hs. Yes on Neocate, omeprazole , domperidone and gaviscon, it's like toddler Strawbs all over again except baby Strawbs screams a hell of a lot more! X -
What is the going rate for babysitters round here?
Strawbs replied to Buffnutter's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have a someone who is our mothers help and babysitter and we pay her ?10 an hour. In terms of the toddler she is able to put him to bed etc so I trust her with it all so you're right depends on the care required. X -

I am hon. Let me know if you want it. I do have a sleep training DVD I could lend you, we are doing it with baby Strawbs super loosely but I find it impossible to do effectively with toddler Strawbs around. X -
Putting a baby to nap with a toddler around

Hey F. We have the swing and it seems to make the reflux worse with the swinging motion. I resort a lot to having him in the ergo so I have my sanity but also hands free for the 2 year old, he has become very used to it now though and I can't carry him forever but am trying slowly to get him to go in the pram now he is a bit bigger and can manage the seat rather than a carrycot which was too flat for him. He had a Moses basket he wouldn't touch, now in a bedside cot but he is very long so I am upgrading him to a cot this weekend (still in my room) but I do fear all that space may make it worse! Wish me luck x -
Ignore that I thought you meant Melbourne grove!

Putting a baby to nap with a toddler around

I don't have any advice as am having the same problem here. As soon as I try to get baby in the cot the toddler runs amok and comes in and yells at the top of his lungs! Baby won't settle at all on his own as we are battling (as you know) silent reflux and allergies which has meant 10 weeks of non stop screaming. I live in hope that one day it will just all come together and I don't have a breakdown before then! Ha. If you crack it pls let me have the tips! X -
A mum at my nursery has just had this conversation and it comes to approximate 250 per month. The fees also drop by approx ?100 when they turn 3. X

Our blue bin collection was missed which meant we were overflowing, it has now been emptied but all the recycling that I kept inside until they were emptied is now in there so we are starting out with one bin full already (we have 2 bins for 3 flats ). Let's hop the Next collection isn't missed ! I don't really understand how they can just miss so many collections in one area as what were they doing on those days When they were meant to be in ed!

What age children does she work with? Thanks
-
Well well well isn't this turning nasty! I am not a parent affected by the now closed nursery and I can only imagine how much of a nightmare that is for you but personal attacks against someone isn't acceptable. What if it had been your child? What if it was your child and they as a result were killed or taken by a pedophile? I am pretty sure you wouldn't be worrying about whether the nursery stays open or not. I can tell you now if it was my 2 year old that had gone missing and not only did they not notice but not seem to be too bothered once the child was returned I would make it my mission to take them down! The main point is being lost in all the emotion here that a small child was able to escape and upon returned the staff didn't seem to give a toss! How can anyone think that that is an acceptable level of care and want to then send their child there! Whilst I don't agree with a sibling of any age dropping off someone at nursery it isn't constructive to be taking swipes and letting emotions get carried away. I do hope everyone is able to find childcare and quick for their little ones what a nightmare this whole situation is for you all.

Advice on bottle feeding needed please
Strawbs replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am jiggling a crying baby so need to be short but worst car if you need it I have some dr brown bottles with level 1 teats in if the tt's don't work. I've had to switch baby Strawbs to bottle and he quite likes the tts. X -
We have been trying aptamil pepti which has resulted in screaming around the clock! My gp said if that happened use the tin of Neocate we had until they open on Monday but I don't have enough to last me til then so I am making a desperate plea for a tin or two which I will replace next week! 07816 949 569. Thanks in advance. X
-
Well it seems the pepti is a no go, every minute Benjamin's eyes are open he is crying so I have reopened the tin of Neocate and have put some vanilla essence in and he drank some! Does anyone have a spare tin to get me through til I can get a prescription on Monday please? Thanks!! X

Hi. What age is this for pls? Thanks! -
50 mins door to door to cannon street using peck rye station. The trains from Ed / or are super quick to London bridge / black friars / the new orange line is good too. I have been here 7 years now and have made some great friends through the forum and NCT. If you are thinking of moving then I'd get on a nursery waiting list (if required) as they can be long. X
-
Thanks for your replies. We are trying the pepti as of last night, no immediate reaction but we will see in a few days. Doc appt today but I think they will say too soon after starting pepti to tell so will need to go back. I will discuss all the milk options you have all suggested and see if I can get a prescription for a couple and try him and get some vanilla essence too! I am currently sitting up with him sleeping on me as his congestion is so bad it sounds like he is choking if he lies flat, for that reason I am glad we have this appt today. I will also ask for a referral to the allergies unit. I have private medical so hopefully the wait won't be too long. X
