Thanks for that suggestion! We are back to the do s on wed so I'll ask then. I am not sure goats milk is the answer for us, the constant screaming has stopped (except for a half hour period every night at about 8) but he is now very constipated and squeals when trying to go. I am going to try the pepti today when the chemist opens and this discuss my options tomorrow with our usual doc. I've put the AA on the list to chat to the doc about. As an aside from the formula he is seriously congested and has been for over a week now (same time as formula introduced), I can't help but it is connected, my other son just had a severe Gastro reaction, is it possible to make him congested by having exposure to the proteins in either cows or goats or am I overthinking it? Thanks! X

We went to beckenham waitress but no success. I have just enough to get me through tonight and I shall pick up the pepti tomorrow and try that for a couple of days. My gut is telling me we will end up on Neocate and just have months of him not drinking much of it. X

Sebsc - were you able to get it on prescription? It is uber pricey! Do you know where besides health matters I can get it from? I don't think they are open and don't have enough to last the night I don't think. Bella - if I get really stuck I may take you up on that, that's very mind. Thank you X

Any thoughts on the nanny goats milk formula? The chemist my prescription was sent to don't stock the pepti so I have to wait until next week (not ideal) and baby Strawbs number 2 won't take more than 2 oz of Neocate so on the advice of his cranial osteopath I bought some goats formula. He took 4oz so a good start. Does anyone know if that is avail on prescription? Or have any feedback on it? Thanks! X

Thanks HS, I must admit when we saw the signs and got the diagnosis I did wonder what I'd done in a past life to get two on the trot with reflux and dairy allergy! I foolishly assumed I was 'owed a good one' after the last one!! X

Morning all, Mini Strawbs number 2 has just been diagnosed with reflux and a dairy allergy. I've been through this with his older brother who had very severe reflux til 16m and was on Neocate til he was 2. I had a telephone consult with a doctor last night (not our normal doc as she had left for the bank holiday weekend already) who prescribed him aptamil pepti rather than Neocate - does anyone have any experience with this? I have heard it only works for some babies but I am thinking it might be good to give it a go as apparently it is more palatable than Neocate as has 40% lactose in it. I have a tin of Neocate which I started last night with my son until we could get to the chemist today so am wary of chopping and changing but true to form like his older brother he hates it and only takes 2 oz at a time which will lead to less sleep for us all (took his older brother 2 years to sleep through the night!). Thanks! X

My Favourite Nursery - what's it like?
Strawbs replied to Ruth.J.Davies's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son goes to MFN and I rate it very highly. He is so happy there and the carers there really are great with him. My second son will be attending next year. I understand the waiting lost is long so I'd pop your name down, they are currently conducting an audit of their list. -
When does my child need to start school?
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you everyone - very helpful! X -
Forgive me I am from Australia so not up to date with how the system works over here. My eldest was born at the end of October 2011 and I thought he would then start school September 2016 but someone told me yesterday it might be actually 2017 because of an August cut off - is that right please? Thank you! X

Advice on getting a 2.5 year old in to a double buggy
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
After reading the above I am thinking of sticking with the ergo and the mac might be a good idea so then probably selling the double. It's hard to know how long the baby will be happy in the sling but he seems happy enough now. I wish I had of waited before buying the double as now feel it was a bit of a wasted effort. I do agree with redjam re taking his beloved pram away as I think he will definitely get very upset (I hadn't considered that he might blame his brother) so maybe for now as you all suggest I am best to stick with the sling and the mac. On the days when I just have the baby not sure at such a young age I'd want to put him in the mac so just need to think on that one as would like a pram option as well as a sling option. Maybe a single baby jogger. Thanks all! X -
Advice on getting a 2.5 year old in to a double buggy

Not a bad idea. I might tell him that we could naughtily get in ben's pram and see if that entices him as he doesn't love that Ben has his own stuff! -
Advice on getting a 2.5 year old in to a double buggy
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ps I did consider a double mac to keep him happy but it won't fit through my front door. -
I have had my second child 6w ago. In preparation for this I bought a baby jogger city select double which so far my 2.5 year old won't get in!! After selling our bugaboo and getting a maclaren for said 2.5 year old about a year ago thinking he wouldn't use it that much after hating the bug he developed a serious love affair with the mac and even watches tv in it! So so far since baby number 2 being born we have either taken out two prams or put baby in the ergo and taken the mac out. I am worried he isn't ready at all for a buggy board as is a runner but admittedly haven't tested him out on one (not sure how to without buying one!) any advice on coaxing him in to the double? It's an amazing pram and I am doing one last attempt this weekend before then reluctantly selling it. Hoping to tap in to the wealth of knowledge on here!! Thanks X

I use the loreal one too, you can get it from sainos. I got my bb done again yesterday post the birth of my second child, I love it! I am going to look at that one on amazon though.

The smbs do lots of good stuff including dairy and soya free choc eggs - I used to get them for mini Strawbs, I called and asked them to put me one aside and they would. The person who runs it (or owns it I'm bit sure) his nephew has lots of allergies so he has some really great stuff in there for sale. X

I can't speak for the specific allergy but I suffer from anaphylaxis, have done since I was 11, I am exercise induced (2% of all sufferers) and every single time without fail my airways have been severely affected ranging from struggling to breath to complete closure. I carry an epipen. If you feel very strongly about it I would either go back and insist and have your child seen privately. Hope that helps in some way. X

4 hour flight with a 4 month old - any top tips?
Strawbs replied to CocoC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I did a flight to Australia with a 6m old and he was amazing, much better than I ever imagined. I am sure 4 hours will be ok. Take off and landing feed or use a dummy for the ears, outside of this be relaxed so they are relaxed. -
We got ours off here on the forum is 2010. Costs is ?950 and it's been ace! Only two minor things have gone wrong with it costing us ?350 in total. We don't do long journeys and only very much do local driving so a cheap reliable car has been just what we needed and luckily got. Good luck!

Little Kickers - thoughts please??
Strawbs replied to ParkHallFC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We are on the waiting list for the nunhead class so can't really say but a year ago we did a trial about a year ago when my son was 18m, it was too structured for him then but am hoping now he will be up for it. It was indoors then, I am assuming it is still. -
Reflux in infants - advice Please
Strawbs replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had mini Strawbs tested by way of skin pricks as he had been diagnosed with a cows milk protein allergy, soya allergy and mango allergy, all of which came up negative on the skin prick tests so we were advised to reintroduce and he reacted very badly every time. At he age of 1 his allergies had him in a&e a few times. He grew out of all three allergies by the time he was 2 thankfully so maybe similar to Patt above as in it didn't know up as it wasn't an allergy for life. It can be very difficult to diagnose when dealing with allergis I agree especially in a baby who can't tell you what's wrong. X -
Reflux in infants - advice Please
Strawbs replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son had reflux and needed Neocate. We were started on gaviscon and ranitadine and after a week it made no difference at all so were switched to omeprazole and it really helped. He was then on it for 16m along with domperidone(we finished this much earlier) and then grew out of his dairy allergy at 2. My advice is to trust your instincts as you have been through this before. I think Omeprazole is a great drug (I am currently on it for chronic pregnancy heartburn) and if you feel the other drugs aren't working then raise holy hell til you get what you need for your baby. I am at the gardens and am very lucky that they prescribed it for me quite easily. Good luck x
