  1. Can anyone recommend somewhere local that replaces cracked ipad screens. It was the cats fault!

On the test run day it was if fact easier to get to the Jubilee Line/Tooley Street if coming in on a Southern Service (Peckham Rye/East Dulwich platforms 15/16). The escalators were in use and barriers funneled people to either the Jubilee Line or Tooley Street. There was no entrance allowed at Tooley Street or exit from the South Eastern lines so didn't have to compete with the South Eastern hoards crossing to the Jubilee Line. Going home was more of a problem as had to walk round to the new main entrance instead of using the Tooley Street entrance. South Eastern commuters look like they'll have a lot more problems!
  3. Andrew Brock on Shawbury Road. Many recommendations on this forum. 020 8299 0299
  4. Highly recommend Sofas and Stuff Went to their Parsons Green showroom and they were very helpful. A huge range of sofas on display. Got 10% off my order and delivery in a month. Delivery men were great, took all the packaging away and made sure the sofa and chair were exactly where I wanted them
  5. Another recommendation for Dave the cookerman. Found his name on the forum earlier this week after my mother's oven died and he has just finished replacing the broken part today. She is delighted. He even got parts working on the cooker that hadn't worked for years!
  6. E J Carpets at Perry Vale Forest Hill. Cannot fault them. From the measuring up to the selecting and taking home of multiple samples to the fitting they were brilliant. I was also pleasantly surprised at the price!
  7. There's no longer a duty planner service at the Walworth Road One Stop Shop. You can still phone and speak to a duty planner 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday on 020 7525 5438
  8. There was also a full page ad in the most recent Southwark Life - should have been delivered just before Christmas.
  9. If you do still need a drain company Drainclear are the best 020 8650 2003. Reasonably priced

Can always park during the day within a few car lengths of my house. The only time I've had to park further away is late at night when most residents are home. I was out & about in my car on Friday and several times arrived back at home to find multiple spaces (10+) within sight of my house. So obviously I don't want to have to find ?125 + visitors permits to park where I, at present, can easily park for free!
  11. It should be up on the portal by now if submitted a month ago. Phone planning admin on 020 7525 5403 or the duty planner on 0207 525 5438 or email [email protected]. The duty planner is available 10am to 4pm, think the admin times are about the same. Both numbers were working yesterday!
  12. They've removed the large centre island at the pedestrian crossing and are building the road out slightly on each side so when it's finished there will basically be pretty much the same road width, ie one lane each side and a single crossing instead of the dog-leg double crossing. Can't really see what all the fuss is about.
  13. I'm with Virgin for broadband & TV, their basic 10MB package via fibre optic cable. Have been with them since they took over from NTL and have had very few problems. When speed tested never had under 9MB and normally 9.6MB. Think this is because I'm SE15. Problems with Virgin seem to be mainly within SE22.

  15. My Mum spoke to him today on Goose Green. A couple of months ago she asked him to keep his dogs on a lead after I'd witnessed one of his dogs chasing a cat through my front garden in Ondine Road. The cat narrowly escaped. Then he was apologetic and said he would keep them on a lead. When she saw him today he didn't deny it was his dogs but he became abusive and said he could do what he liked with his dogs. We have often found him like this, one day he will be chatty and friendly but another time he can get very animated and verbally abusive. I know he has has some serious health issues in the past and I'm sure he loves his dogs. As Peckhamgatecrasher says the dogs are fine with children it's just the issue of him refusing to put them on leads. From how he reacted today he is not going to change. A dog walker who knows him quite well is going to try to talk to him but I fear it will make no difference. I would hate to see this end up with the dogs being taken from him but I can't really see him changing and I don't want to be reporting on this forum in a couple of months time that one of my cats has been injured or killed by one of his dogs.
  16. I've PMed InScarlet with some info as to who it might be. I don't want to leap to the wrong conclusions here but IF the dogs were Jack Russells there is an older man who lives very locally who walks 2 Jack Russells off lead down Ondine Road and is often on Goose Green. There was a similar incident a couple of months agowith this man and his dogs but luckily the cat was quick and unharmed. He was asked to keep his dogs on a lead and he said he would but only 2 days ago I saw him with one dog off lead on Grove Vale. The dogs are normally lovely friendly dogs but are terriers so if off lead & see a cat they will chase. How can we stop this happening again?
  17. So now we're going to have to find space for 3 wheelie bins. I imagine there are a lot of front gardens that just don't have that amount of space.
  18. You could try the empty homes manager for Southwark. [email protected] I know in the past she has done some good work tracking owners and getting properties back into use. Or if it appears dangerous contact dangerous structures team on 020 7525 5397/5582/5596 Southwark dangerous structures
  19. They are knocking on doors on Ondine Road now. Usual stuff about "didn't you get the letter about free broadband"
  20. Perhaps it's because I've lived here all my life but I seem to be able to tune it out. Am certainly on the flight path but the noise doesn't really bother me. Now when Concorde used to fly over - that was LOUD!
  21. Also noticed, at the Adys Road/Crystal Palace Road traffic lights, a large number of cars turning right from Crystal Palace Road onto East Dulwich Road. Don't know if the no right turn has been suspended for the duration of the works or just people trying to avoid the roadworks & ignoring the sign. Certainly caused much confusion for drivers coming from Adys Road. An accident waiting to happen.
  22. Thinks it's in the name! This is Camberwell Leisure Centre in Camberwell which reopened last week not Dulwich Leisure Centre in East Dulwich whose pool reopened some time ago.
