  1. oops but obviously not on a Bank Holiday!!
  2. Yes they are open Southwark libraries
  3. Thanks that'll be them, off to do my postman duties now!
  4. Anyone know a Mr & Mrs G Fane. I'm getting some of their post. All appears to be cards, possibly a new baby?
  5. Not alot of use for inside the house but I used nematodes for the first time this year in the garden and it worked. Applied once to the garden in early June and haven't seen a slug since. (Don't buy it now if you're thinking of applying it next spring as it has a short shelf life) Nematodes
  6. I think you'll find the 12 people mentioned only spend a small amount of their time on Southwark Life. The rest of their time is spent on other brilliant/rubbish* (*delete depending on your viewpoint) communication projects for Southwark.
  7. I got my 2 cats from Celia Hammond about 4 years ago and the woman that showed me round could not have been nicer. Since then I have always encouraged people thinking about getting a cat to visit Celia Hammond first. But about 6 months ago a colleague took my advice and picked up a cat from there. When he went back for the cats injections he was astonished at how rude one of the staff was to him. He said if he had been going to select a cat he would have walked out. I would not like to think the actions of one member of staff might stop people donating, adopting or volunteering.
  8. He certainly was steaming! Watched the BBC coverage in a bar on Chancery Lane with 300 Bruce fans who sang alone to every song - never heard so much noise. A totally wierd experience. Really looking forward to Hyde Park.
  9. link to Southwark's website southwark council dump
  10. Probably not getting to Hyde Park until about 6pm due to family lunches and an allergic reaction to the Dave Matthews Band. Will also be recovering from seeing an Elvis tribute act performing Springsteen songs on Saturday night! Thunder Road is also probably my favourite, 1st 2 lines are etched onto my ipod. But got into Springsteen on the River tour so I love songs like Point Blank, Fade Away, The Price you Pay etc. The whole Nebraska album stands the test of time and at the other extreme the Seeger Sessions tour included some of the best concerts I've ever been to.
  11. Just came through Peckham Rye from London Bridge & didn't notice anything so I assume it's all up & running. Although I did have my head in a book.
  12. See plenty of birds in the garden despite having two cats (luckily they are too lazy to attempt catching birds). The wood pigeons are the real pests, they clear the bird feeder of food in less than an hour. See blue tits, robins, jays and a wren. A few weeks ago during the snow had about 6 mistle thrushes feeding in the tree. Haven't seen them before or since.
  13. Honor Oak School for Girls from 1969 to 1976. I was in the last year intake as a grammer School Somehow Miss Stuart & Miss Powell persuaded me to do double maths A levels! Favorite teacher had to be Mrs Allsop for geography - We studied N America for A level & she was always bringing in her slides of her holidays there - all seemed very exotic at the time! And that neddlework teacher was evil - gave my best friend Marion an order mark for smiling.
  14. Looked like there was an accident involving a bendy bus at Peckham Road junction with Southampton Way. At 7.30 they were putting someone onto a stretcher and into an ambulance. When I went back past at 8 they had closed Peckham Road in both directions.
  15. Tickets still available at ticketzone Ticketzone This are legit ticket agency. Have used them before

SOLD OUT. > > help... any ideas gratefully received... My point on my original post was that you just had to follow the link from the O2 site to ticketmaster & you didn't need any codes! Tickets were selling all day Wednesday and most of yesterday befor they stopped the presale. Anyway if you still haven't got tickets, as giggirl says, Stargreen still have tickets.
  17. I know what you mean! He has replied in a recent interview that it was a mistake. I think I'll allow him that one mistake - anyway it was incredibly easy to get my tickets!
  18. Just a bit of info. If anyone was thinking of Going to the Springsteen concert in Hyde Park on June 28th. Ticketes meant to go on sale this Friday but Ticketmaster/O2 seemed to have messed up & they are available now as a presale but without any need for passwords/codes etc. Just follow the link to ticketmaster. o2 website
  19. Have just walked into work again today & agree the roads & pavements are worse than yesterday. Lots of black ice. Don't go out on a bike!
