Councillor surgery meetings
wonderwoman replied to wonderwoman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Were in Dulwich Hill ward so presumably they would be in same situation as yourselves. -
Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
wonderwoman replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes even if it's still needed should it not be taken further back into the pavement, there's absolutely no need to have the fence so far out. People are having to precariously dodge traffic and go into the road with children. It's so selfish and inconsiderate imo! -
Does anyone know when and where councillor surgery meetings are held? I know Renata used to use the community centre on a Saturday but I've tried a search on the council website and can't see anything scheduled?

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
wonderwoman replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi wondering what's happening with the air con repairs at Dulwich Leisure Centre. I was in studio yesterday and it was boiling. They had portable fans but they make so much noise that the music had to be turned up it's deafening. This problem has been going on since last year year so what's holding up the repairs? -
Malumbu if you read my post we did resolve the issue straight away. It's not about coming on the forum to complain necessarily but to give people the heads-up. Difference between your experience and my son's is that he is younger and less world wise and they took advantage. Like JohnL says teenagers aren't always that assertive but something which he'll learn from in future. I agree that sometimes pricing at hairdressers can vary depending on if they have to restyle or cut a lot. That's why I called afterwards to check and was told clearly its flat rate of ?14 up to age of 16. So she had to agree to give him ?6 back.
-
Yes I agree my son is a bit shy about these things but it's all part of life building experiences I guess. He said he told them his age and they told him it was ?20 so there was no change to be asked. They would have got away with it if I hadn't called to check with them. The normal rate is probably ?10-14 at most for kids under 16 in most barbers or hairdresser s we've been to.
-
I sent my teenage son with ?20 enough for a haircut at Rocket Barbers and something to eat after. They charged him ?20. I called and asked how much they charge for kids and they said ?14 up to 16 yes old. Having looked at the website even students pricing is up to ?18. I said why did you charge him ?20 then? They promptly said tell him to come back and we'll give him the money. Just a heads-up to people who may want to go there in future to beware.

Forest Hill Road Surgery - again.
wonderwoman replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Regarding the Lister clinic I thoughtit was daft to not provide a message as Singalto says but when I spoke to them about this I was told you would only get appointment at Lister through FHR surgery as an alternative if you can't get an appointment on the day with the duty GP. If that's the case they shouldn't put the message on in the first place as it gives people a false impression or change the massage! -
When are the letters likely to come out? We were informed by email it. It doesn't explain why 1st or 2nd choice was not given. How can you challenge if you don't know the reason? Also I'm in the process of transferring my 1st son to the 1st choice school as he's in year 9 now. If he's successful will my year 6 son get a chance of getting in. Bit confusing but can someone help?

Yes that's happened to me before. Invariably it also depends on who you get at the desk. But before Xmas they were telling people they were binning all the lost property. They must have a better way of organising things. Reminds me I need to check for my dtrs swimming top. I'll try what you've suggested and look myself!

Hi this needs to be reported to the school. Harris has a police officer linked to the school. You can contact PC PC Marcus Kudliskis on 07917 210932 email [email protected] to report it.

Hi all just wanted to gather some thoughts about immunisation booster for teenagers. I received a letter from my sons school with a consent form. I'm not sure about whether to agree or not. It also states that if we don't consent then the pupil will be given the information and asked whether they consent to having it done or not. Over the years there have been a lot of discussions regarding immunisation and whether or not to have it done. I know that when he was a baby there were huge concerns and backlash with the MMR vaccine as well. Would be good to get some views from local parents about this thanks...

Active east Dulwich is the same, couldn't register all my children for free swim. Apparently since new website update none of staff can help customers register has to be done by customers themselves. During Xmas hols they wouldn't allow 2of my children to go to free swim despite 3 of us have registered also pool was practically empty. The website and app is useless. I have full membership and would expect more tbh. Also ongoing problems with women's changing rooms but that's another story!

I would never go back to the Camberwell health clinic, long waiting times, you get a consultation and then book in again for further appointments and another few hours wait. Mine was extremely painful and ended up having a scan in kings due to the new coil thread missing. Luckily it was still in situ but when they take it out in a few years I will probably need sedation. Gp would have been much better I would say in hindsight

Virgin Media Outage - Northcross Road
wonderwoman replied to Neil.P's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That's exactly what we did too like DulwichSal and we got compensation from Virgin. Returned back to Sky and not really had any problems. Virgin admitted they flog their product on high speed capabilities. However this is useless when you can't even connect most of the time. Also they need to do a lot of mintainance work which they've only looked at this year held up by getting council permission apparently. We also found their engineers were really stretched and often vented about their contractors. They just need to realise customers aren't necessarily going to hang around until they get their act together. -
Son's bike stolen from him on the street
wonderwoman replied to Coach Beth's topic in The Family Room Discussion
So sad to hear this. Wondering whether it's worth posting a picture or detailed description of the bike in case any of us spot it in the local area we can contact the police. Also I heard that a lot of stolen bikes and other stuff goes onto gumtree as theives may try to flog off stolen stuff online. So it may be worth checking. -
Low water has become no water. Latest from Thames water is that the repair is due to be completed latest tomorrow.

Is virgin media down in dulwich?
wonderwoman replied to keluar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Agree totally with Tractorlad, Virgin are major cowboys, promised me the world to sign up to fibre optic b.band and couldnt even get any connection, when it was working it was painstakingly slow, reminded me of the old days before broadband. They owned up that they cannot meet any expectations to provide a service, major work is under way in the area which apparently gets put off and put off various excuses between Virgin and southwark apparently. Therefore not estimated to even start till August. I also found the engineers weren't very professional, complaining that they are overworked and lack of communication, leaving a mess of cables in their path. We only found out by chance that our transfer of phone line never actually happened. Took too many calls to resolve matters and I've been promised compensation which has yet to materialise. Returned back to Sky just normal broadband and phone line ?18 p.m, fast connection and problem free. I hear BT are good too but this may depend on area. -
