  1. Thank you for the heads up about the Spine and loss of parking spaces. Unbelievable. East Dulwich ward seems to have been massively underrepresented at the first stage. Need to stop there double yellows. See link bargee posted above.
  2. Please see the thread on the Southwark Cycling Spine and loss of 43 parking spaces between Great Exhibition and Castle, please reply to the consultation. Make your neighbours aware too.
  3. While I know that anyone can park anywhere etc, the three taxis parked on Crystal Palace Road have not moved for several months. No one uses them. They simply do not move. The Tom Gates one, the Rimmel one and the Russian airline one, all in the section between Pellat Road and Heber Road. Does anyone know who they belong to? Taxed but unused. It's upsetting the parking balance and it is time to go and park somewhere else now. I know I can't force them to move but hoped this post might uncover some info about them.
  4. I don't think Judith Kerr has Year 6? It is a new school staring and building up gradually.
  5. Greetings used to - but was a long time ago. Does she live far away? I might have a spare one if it's a special occasion etc.
  6. Thanks. Works on phone but not on PC. Weird.
  7. I'm trying to look at a planning application the council have notified me about. I have tried to log on to the Planning Register but it times out every time. I have also tried the map tool - I can see the planning application I want, but when I click the more details link it again times out. Does it work for other people or is it me? Any tips on how to view the planning documentation most welcome. Thanks.
  8. Mrs Robinson on Lordship Lane has furniture. Worth a look.
  9. Spoke to the Homemade Kitchen guy this week (Northcross Road)- have been trying unsuccessfully to have a waffle there for some time. He's having complaints from a neighbour about the smell/hot food. which seems bonkers as it's next door to the day and night operating Bonne Bouffe which I would imagine would be much worse in terms of noise/smell etc? He seemed a really nice guy and I hope they can sort it out as I love waffles and pancakes and the types of things they were proposing to sell. They are doing drinks for now. Any one know anything more?
  10. Eldest did private nursery then Reception. Second did School Nursery then Reception. No difference in settling in, learning. Do what is easiest. We had a Nanny by the time the second was old enough for school nursery so was easy to do the wrap around. Don't stress for 3 year olds.
  11. I should have known better than to start a thread with the word 'fox' in it:-) Anyway, I won't be doing anything cruel, and will be starting with an old blue recycling box, which, if the milkman put the lid on properly, should be secure. Terracotta pots is also a great suggestion. Thank you and I will leave you to the animal welfare debate. Live and let live but don't drink doorstep milk!
  12. After many years of trouble free milk deliveries we recently have had our milk attacked by foxes - chewing the plastic bottles and resulting in milk steaming down the front path. Wasteful and annoying. Tried hanging a bag half way up the front door which worked for a while but today they managed to jump up and another bottle of milk and some bread got nibbled at. Does anyone have a simple fool/fox proof method to protect the milk? Loathe to stop having the milk delivered. Thanks for any advice
  13. My understanding is also that Forest Hill Boys and Sydenham have changed how they deal with applications in the past 1 or 2 years . They used to have 5 bands of ability, and take an equal number from each ability band, with over application dealt with by distance. So the 'less able' band had a much bigger 'catchment' than the 'most able' band. Now the bands have gone, and it is just distance, so that will have an impact on how far the children come from.
  14. How old is the child? My 12 year old has a Lloyds account and debit card, and I don't bank there!
  15. "How to talk so kids can listen and listen so kids will talk" book has a great cartoon of what you say v what they hear. They hear blah blah blah. So the military approach - just the instruction, no faff, assists. The book is good. Mine only improved when, in Year 5 they could walk to school by themselves. So it was option a) get up, have breakfast, leave early and go to school by yourself or B) carry on as usual, deal with nagging and walk with me and your siblings to school. Miraculous ability to get dressed and out of the door was the result. No screen pre school is strict rule here too.
  16. If you search you will find lots of threads on this. The overwhelming consensus is positive. Mine like it. Not just Heber children there if that is your concern.
  17. You might be interested in Buildpath who are assisting me with my loft - https://www.buildpath.io We had a loft conversion done several years ago by one of the companies mentioned here, with associated planning issues. When we were doing it there was no precedent for raising the ridge so we only managed to create a bathroom in the loft space (rather than a bedroom and bathroom.) We are looking to redo it - Nick from Buildpath came round and discussed options for increasing the loft space, produced a package with 3D images and planning information which has given us vital information regarding costs and what can be achieved with the space prior to engaging an architect. Given previous bad experience with builders/architects this is giving me a much better starting point for this project. Nick is on 02032858330
  18. I go to Peckham Rye, on bus or walk dependent on weather. Peckham Rye is a flat walk from East Dulwich whereas Denmark Hill, as the name suggests, is up a hill. Dependent on where in ED you are Peckham can be easier to get to. It is also less stops than HOP. HOP is not well connected to ED by bus - better to stay on to Forest Hill where there are lots of buses. Then Overground to Canada Water, the one stop on Jubilee. If the Jubilee line is having problems stay on to Shadwell and change to the DLR.
  19. Really Maria on Lordship Lane near Bishop pub. I got some very very thin elastic there recently.
  20. Mine does 3 x 15 minutes in the morning - I am there to assist with breakfast and dressing she literally has to walk to school and wait til the class goes in, plus 3x 3.5 hours after school, til I get in. Plus ad hoc babysitting. ?100 per week plus gym membership. Have use au pair world but prefer the outgoing one to recommends someone. Hope that helps.
  21. Pellat Road close to the Post Office depot is usually quite bad - the half houses there are very remiss at cutting back.
  22. Yes a cage or barrier would be a great idea. Sadly playground designers seem to have no idea how the spaces actually get used. The playground by the One O'clock Club in Peckham Rye needs a fence round to keep toddlers away from cyclists on the main path, and obviously the 'water' feature was a triumph. Footballers and toddlers are not a happy mix in the Gosse Green Playground.
  23. Kept the congrats on birth cards, ditched the subsequent birthday ones.
  24. Yep we have swaps and would be interested in meeting up/ doing online.
  25. ELT in Clapham? It depends on the class/level, but ours have managed to do pick up drop offs and classes there. Or there is a class in the park - I think WomanofDulwich runs it. It's the social side as much as anything that makes a class preferable to a tutor.
