  1. Top 10 favourite Jellyfish, here goes: Portuguese Man'O'War(looks like a purple pasty!) Box Jellyfish(Pointless...but deadly) Umbrella Jellyfish(Steve Maclarens favourite) Parachute Jellyfish(think Derby county) Moon Jellyfish(a long way from home) Flowerhat Jellyfish(Bloomin' marvelous) Cannonball jellyfish(edible apparently) Lions Mane Jellyfish(The cats whiskers...oof!) Turrittopsis Nutriculis(I had to include this beauty becasue it is effectively immortal...no really) Irukandji jellyfish(Has its very own syndrome named after it...like China)
  2. Its a miniseries currently airing in the US called 'Generation Kill'. Its had universally great reviews.
  3. Just thought I'd get in on the act. ;-)
  4. I'd happily pay the money if you can get Porkies 2 arranged. An overlooked classic.
  5. I'm with you on that one Horsebox...looks like the house of cards is about to topple.
  6. Heh-heh, funny all over. Methinks rich landbarons who pump out the equivalent of 600 fags(a guestimate..its more than likely...a lot more)per minute in their gas guzzling juggernauts and then trot off home to their free range suppers in front of an audience of undernourished morlocks should cool their heels. Its a form of social darwinism in action...let nature weed out the fickle and feeble minded. Who is going to pay for all that downtime in Antigua if the serfs all die of Emphysema?...actually maybe Rico has a point. :-S
  7. The end of Chinatown, when Faye Dunaway gets shot...really? Never heard of 'Watcher in The Woods'....is it recommended?
  8. Is a Holga one of those trendy retro cameras?
  9. Thats a nasty one to respond to right off the cuff...but I'll give it a go. In no particular order(and subject to many changes): The Shawshank Redemption. Bladerunner. Withnail & I. The Big Lebowski. Wild at Heart. Apocalypse Now. Its a Wonderful Life. Alien. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Naked.
  10. There were 2 cold war versions, the original 1956 Don Siegel movie and the...other one from 1978.
  11. ...and you have access to the lovely bit of grass in the middle, I've often cycled past there and looked on in envy. It always seems to be empty!
  12. I must admit that I've never personally really bought the idea of bisexuality, not because I'm homophobic or heterophobic but because I've always looked upon Bisexuals as the ultimate hedonists...they want their cake and they want to eat yours too! I always thought it was a bit greedy. I'd be interested to hear from a confirmed bisexual as to what goes on in their heads re sex and multigender partners. You're right, its not talked about enough...educate the single sex partner luddites. Great thread. ;-)
  13. The Donald Sutherland version was a remake of an earlier film...so which remake are we talking about? There was a moment that really twisted my head re the 70s remake and that was the small dog with the grinning human face. I also remember getting a jolt when the decapitated head floated up from the scuttled wreckage in Jaws...mind you I was only 8. The guy in Poltergeist who scratches his face of in the bathroom mirror...that terrified me for weeks as a nipper.
  14. The Insurance companies will be rubbing their greedy little mitts. I feel so old now when I utter this tired refrain but 'what happened to accidents??'
  15. Most of these horror films leave me cold. Directors such as David Lynch and Cronenberg affect me far more. Jacobs Ladder freaked me out as well, what with vibrating heads in the back of the car. I have to disagree with Mockney Piers re Blair Witch, the final scene had me shuddering like a girl and near jumping out of the window. Again its the suggestion of terror...the rest has you filling in the gaps in your imagination and boy do I have a vivid imagination. (6)
  16. Thats quite a lot of film based psychosis bigbadwolf, your therapist must be raking it in! ;-)
  17. Cripes! Looks pretty ginuwine to me.
  18. What films have really got under your skin and genuinely unsettled you?(discounting Gwyneth Paltrow in a fat suit...or Gwyneth Paltrow in anything)I only ask because I've just finished watching Mulholland Drive again and I remember being pretty freaked out by it the first time around. I also recall the scene in Casino where the battered but conscious character played by Joe Pesci(fishy?)gets buried alive with his dead brother...that truly affected me. Or the moment in The Amityville Horror when you get a fleeting glimpse of the houses malevolence in beast form as it scuttles past the upstairs window. Freaky, trust me. Most mainstream horror is only fit for the under 5s these days. What films have stayed with you and still make your terror glands twitch?
  19. Snakes curled up in the loo? Sounds like an acid flasback to me...that or a scene straight from Jacobs Ladder.
  20. There is no Nobel prize for Mathamatics because Mrs.Alfred Nobel was discovered having an affair with A renowned mathamatician...
  21. Back at ya! ;-)
  22. 13 all told. Hmm, this particular giant has been damn near comatose for the last 25 years. My chin is pointing skywards Anna...but my buttocks are firmly clenched. :)
  23. Didnt that Sinatra anecdote resurface on Danny Bakers show again recently, one of the callers tried to pass it off as his own experience. Didnt fool The Radio titan for a second though. I remember a few of the filthier ones. The contents of Marc Almonds stomach after having it pumped for instance and Marianne Faithfuls fondness for Mars Bars(prior to King Size I hasten to add. I was also Told by someone that Clint Eastwood was Stan Laurels illegitimate son...Part of me still believes that one. Its too good not too be true.
  24. I wish Spurs would stop doing this to me. Another fine showing against a quality Side which has me hoping against all previous experience that our time is coming. It all looks so shiny and promising doesnt it..the new season. Tarnish free and unsullied by terrible away defeats in the League/FA cup and our ritual spanking by the scum down the road. This is what keeps us coming back year after year. The sceptic in me knows that all the pretty football could come tinkling down around our heads if a few of our new recruits get kicked up in the air by some hairy northern brute next weekend. Still where theres hope theres a Spurs fan...
  25. Thanks for the lift yesterday. I really enjoyed the ride, especially the rugged downhill sections. Apparently that awful initial uphill section we faced did run parallel to Box Hill which has a certain reputation so lets not beat ourselves up about it. Overall it was a good intro and I suggest we do it on a fairly regular basis....I'm a little sceptical about you getting 3 bikes on that rack though! ;-)
