Which road to buy on (Court lane or Woodwarde? )
Domitianus replied to siomcc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Exactly KK. I mean this thread has got to be a wind-up. Are they referring to the quality of tarmac? The intensity of passing traffic? The 'calibre' of the neighbours (barf! vomit!)? The average number of bricks per house? The percentage of houses that have been re-mortgaged to finance a conservatory? The likelihood of a stabbing victim fleeing down it? Perhaps the term "better" (which is a 'comparative deletion') does not refer to the other possible road at all! Perhaps it means "which road is better than a house in France?" "...better than a ticket for the men's final at Wimbledon?" "....better than diarrhoea?" "....better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick?" In the words of Austin Powers: "Whoop-ee-do! But what does it all MEAN, Basil?" Really, siomss, ask a sensible question and you might get a sensible answer. This must be up there for the award for 'The Dopiest OP, 2009'. -

On a sad note the celebrated Dallas Chicken > n Ribs, where Gordan Ramsey cut his teeth, has > just lost it's Michelin star.. I understand that was what was behind the 'Lordship Lane Incident.' A group of young fried chicken house food critics were debating the respective merits of Dallas Chicken n Ribs versus Texas Chicken House. Apparently it was alleged that Dallas is superior as you can dump yr BMX bike outside, thus blocking the bus stop and pavement, while you order from their a la carte menu. Another experienced chicken chomper sided with Texas as they give you more free salt sachets. Umbrage was taken and an unseemly fight broke out with the parties assaulting each other with wooden chip forks. It is for this reason alone that no-one was too seriously injured. -
Hey folks, there might already be a thread about this but here goes. New Italian deli and tea shop was being finalised beside lloyds at top end of LL, by Dulwich Library. It's in the premises that was Plough Electrics. Anyone know anything about this? Have they chosen somewhere a little too out of the way?

Probably the same way the majority of the population of the UK manage to get by without the Tube. Guess they uses buses, trains, taxis and stuff.

I tried to be spontaneous once but it didn't work.

I am with Legal Beagle on this one. Take the hard line. The notion that they don't know who it might have been is ridiculous and there is bound to be clear damage on the vehicle in question. They are just trying to pass the buck and I would nail them to the wall if I was you.

It does indeed do wet shaves and I had one there but I suggest the nice Kurdish barber does not step outside his shop with his cut-throat in case he gets stopped and searched. It is a nice place and I have had two good cuts there.

If there is a fashion element to this, i.e. what is the cool weapon of choice; then perhaps we could get some role models to start to tool up with those straight potato peelers or something comparatively innocuous. If everyone followed suit coz it was the cool thing, then we might have a few scrapings and occasional gouging but no real stabbings. I mean if we can't get rid of knives completely, perhaps we should aim for harm reduction? Just a thought.

just pointing out that rumours that turn out untrue can affect victim's nearest and dearest.

We should remember Munich 1972, when news that all the Israeli athletes had been freed unharmed turned out to be all the Israeli athletes were dead.

Kes, let's leave the speculation, rumour, innuendo and gross innaccuracy to the professional media - it's their job :-)

Brendan, what about the tall, red, shiny metal things that go vroom-vroom ABOVE the ground? -
Am I just being over-cynical here or is the OP another example of a party with a vested interest pretending to be a disinterested member of the public, a la classic Osborne Stewart and Vale promotional threads. We have a poster who has only posted three times, all in last few days I believe, and all in relation to the ED Warehouse or traders there. We even have the classic "I heard that....." line from anonymous sources, a detailed knowledge of the new traders and quite specific directions to the location. Chippy, have you an interest to declare?

All is not yet well! Do not get your hopes up! This morning I saw a piece of litter and a dog turd on Barry Road. I fear the villains who have tormented us so are still in our midst. Will we never be able to walk the streets in safety?

East Dulwich is a frightful place where we are all extremely posh and look down our noses at newcomers. Frankly, you won't be welcome! ;-)

Earlier today I saw some police officers walking into East Dulwich Police Station. Someone told me that they saw a police car parked outside. Anyone know what's going on? I live nowhere near the police station so I am very concerned.
