Well said DE, I agree with much of what you say. I had to get money wired to my account from the US and with Wollwich they could just go into the computer and get me my SWIFT code or whatever it is. It took me several visits to Barclays to be able to obtain the same information and meant that my transfer of funds was highly inconveniently delayed. Barclays is meant to be a leading high street bank but it is just one inconvenience after another. I am still livid that they gave me a new account without the basic functionality of my old one - I am referring to something as simple as a Debit card.

Can DM start posting details of her sex life please so we can contrast the self-professed Chav with Posh Tottie? I bet DM is far more filthy than CWALD when she actually gets down to it.

If there is child-free high ground (moral or otherwise) please point me towards it and I will gone like a shot.

I went into Barclays today to lodge a cheque (can this be done online? perhaps it can!) and to make matters worse, those boxes full which are meant to be full of free pens were completely empty!!!

Women who put their mobile phone at the bottom of their handbags and then rummage through it in desperation whilst everyone else has to listen to some preposterous ring-tone. Ladies, if you have a mobile phone, consider the possibility that it might actually RING!!???!?!!!

The phenomenon I am referring to is more related to people standing in public places, holding their phone in front of them and shouting at them as if the person him/herself was present. I always wonder how the person in question can hear what the other party might be trying to get in with while they are mouthing off. Old ladies with mobile phones???? You are taking the piss. Or are all those hearing aids really discrete Bluetooth headsets?

The girl asked her why she wanted to do so (politely, I must say) and the lady stated that she did not like Barclays and did not want to bank with them. This explanation was accepted without batting an eyelid and no further clarification was asked for. I see little point in writing a letter of complaint in order to simply received a smoothly crafted response full of platitudes. Banks/insurance companies/airlines = barstewards!

I bought a torch in SHaun's yesterday and the young chap who served me happily climbed up and down his ladder to show me a good selection. When I bought batteries to go with it they knocked a little off the price. Well done to Shaun's.

I was formerly a customer of Woolwich and frankly the change to Barclays has been nothing short of a nightmare. I agree that the Woolwich branch was friendly, helpful and had short queues. Barclays staff may do their best but the ethos of the bank as a whole is frightful. When all Woolwich customers were shifted across to Barclays the new account I was given had no Electron or Switch facility which was a major inconvenience for me. Also, Barclays now charge for issuing counter cheques whereas Woolwich always had the option to waive such charges if the customer did not operate a current account. Also the quesues i Barclays are atrocious. I would love to close my Barclays account and tell them why but, frankly, the hassle of moving is just too much bother. In short - Barclays stinks!
