  1. All these cheese puns are starting to grate on me now. Louisa.
  2. Drove through Penge earlier today and absolutely love the effort all the traders and local council go to for the Christmas lights. Looks very warm and seasonal. Unlike our local area, same old each year, especially the village, home to Charles Dickens and yet no effort put in whatsoever. Louisa.
  3. What about a slug and lettuce? I know they're boring but I quite like the one in Beckenham. Louisa.
  4. Don't think there's anything grumpy about someone telling you to contribute to a thread about something that excites you, rather than telling people on this thread what they should and shouldn't get excited about! No-one is forcing you to take part here are they? Louisa.
  5. Why is there such an issue with chain pubs. Yes souless, yes cheaper, yes samey (especially wetherspoons/walkabout type chains) but it's nice to have that option especially for lovers of sport. Louisa.

  7. Shame no footage of North cross or lordship lane, I particularly would like to see gateway/bejam in their prime and also the little art shop (kisar) and Binnester toys (now mon petit chou?). Also fond memories of the Foresters before gentrification and before the pub chains took it on. Louisa.
  8. I'm not overly concerned with the look my main issue is with the height. We are in suburban london and I for one don't want the area being spoilt by tall buildings. Drive down into Lewisham this morning and what a monstrosity that place has become, tall buildings crammed into narrow spaces. Yuck. Louisa.
  9. Walkabout sounds just the ticket to me. A successful chain that's inclusive and not aimed at pretentious foodies. Louisa.
  10. Hether Arms was great and also lovely to see the CPT in all her glory. Louisa.
  11. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But Bromley will be safe for you Louisa, don't > worry. Was in Bromley today and had a great time strolling the boulevards looking for Christmas gifts. Granted it's not what it used to be, but it still retains a certain Kentish charm. Anyone ever drink in the Pawlenne Arms in penge? Is that what it's called? Looks old school boozer think its Irish owned not sure. Louisa.

    Black Friday

When I saw all the crap on TV I assumed it was a VAT free day in the shops. But no, it's just a standard one day sale heavily promoted for morons who think they're getting a deal before Christmas. The supermarkets will make that money back and more from the very same people when they go back over the next month to buy other Christmas goods. Louisa.
  13. I took a strol through South Kensington last night and saw some of the same shops I'd see in ED these days. I think in general Penge is just a little too far out for all the gentrified BS to occur, but I rule nothing out since I started seeing bearded hipsters blocking the corner of Blenheim Grove outside a trendy bar. Come back in 2050 and even Orpington might be gentrified. Louisa.

    Black Friday

Asda in the Old Kent RD was absolutely manic this morning. Is this now an annual event because the media told us so? Louisa.
  15. Where have you been hiding? Louisa.
  16. Yes indeed, your responses are tiresome and pointless. As expected. And I'm the one accused of chatting pointless nonsense and taking threads off topic? Please, for the last time, can we keep this on topic please? Louisa.
  17. Not really haha. Enjoy your evening! Louisa.
  18. Tallulah71 my posts clearly bother you enough that you choose to write an essay back at me - and put down a successful local popular business (Manzes) in the process which comes across as spiteful and odious to many too I'm sure. I won't waste my breath arguing thougg, you're entitled to your opinions and I'm entitled to mine. Obviously haven't got the knack of being able to ignore people you don't particularly like. Your response is obnoxious and hypocritical. I expect no less from the usual EDF forum suspects. Louisa.

Firstly, I don't "hijack" every thread, and I clearly tried twice to keep this thread on topic but people like you are consistently taking it off topic by referring to my opinions. If they don't matter to you, don't comment on them. Please, I'm really not bothered about your opinions. Quite simple. Louisa.
  20. AM put me in my car and every journey is urgent. It does get on my goat when I'm stuck behind inconsiderates strolling along without a care in the world. Louisa.
  21. Better be organic local made cheese and artisan bread. Louisa.
  22. "Let agreed" board outside the old Irish Shop. Anyone know more? Louisa.
  23. AdDabs, a shish tends to be a healthy and well rounded meal option. Granted the chips aren't great, but when you're mullered after copious amounts of red wine and vodka there's nothing wrong with adding a naughty side to an otherwise healthy meal option. edcam I must admit to being stuck behind numerous dominos pizza delivery people on bikes with L plates on for goodness sakes (grrrr) who have rattled my cage somewhat. Especially when I'm trying to get somewhere urgently. Louisa.
  24. simonethebeaver - you're of course absolutely right that IMO pizza is a carb filled meal with few health benefits. Probably will fill you up substantially but little else. I couldn't personally describe it as a meal, a snack perhaps. Sharing one pizza and one garlic bread between two people well, hmmm you'd have to have a pretty small appetite. For 3 quid in sainsburys a meal deal will get you a sandwich drink and crisps, is that a meal or a snack? Depends on ones appetite I suppose. Louisa.
  25. This really is sad news. Louisa.
