  1. MrBen what on earth is acid? Back in my day we were happy sniffing petrol. Louisa.
  2. Loz that's the problem. There are often around 15/20 guys stood around and they approach almost everyone who enters the car park and to someone by themselves this can often come across as quite intimidating particularly when you are approached by a couple of them. Sometimes they ask if you want a job doing then go away if you say no, often times I've totally ignored them and found they will pester until you literally say no half a dozen times. It's annoying more than anything, but I could see why some folk may find it intimidating. Louisa.
  3. Jeremy I must agree it isn't a very nice area at all, and yet it borders some rather wealthy Surrey/Kent/M25 border towns. I've always found it to be a bit rough around the edges. Many of the people who live there are from Croydon and Bromley council geographic areas though, and the few I know have always refered to it as a step up from where they came. Louisa.
  4. I don't care Otta, when I'm on a mission to sort out a DIY job at home the last thing I need is some joker in paint stained Matalan clobber asking me if he can fix a new door knob on for me. Pop to the job centre if you want work, stop congesting the busy car park of a retail park intimidating and annoying customers. I've confronted B&Q and the defunct Comet (Pets at Home now) to no avail. Louisa.
  5. New Addington is very popular with people from the Croydon/Bromley area. it's seen as a 'step-up' from those places bordering the North Downs. I've never really liked it not understood it's popularity. Louisa.
  6. The people who hang around in B&Q car park (old kent road) waiting for people to give them job. I'm sick of it. Every time I go there they come over and ask if I want any work doing, no I %#$?ing don't p%$$ off! Louisa.
  7. Channel 5. New Addington. James Blunt. Louisa.
  8. Sourdough bakeries. Louisa.
  9. HARRY HILL. Just seen the revamped version of iconic 90's variety show 'Stars in their Eyes' on tv. What a shocking disappointment that was. The entire show has been transformed into a kind of self gratifying show for Harry Hill to indulge everyone in his poor quality, not funny slapstick humour which grates worse than a piece of mouldy cheddar. Not impressed. Shame on you ITV. Louisa.
  10. david_carnell I wasn't offering any expertise on tracking terrorists, rather making an observation at the lack of progress, in tracking the suspects, until earlier today. I can't recall a situation where two suspects were able to kill 12 people in the centre of a busy capital city, and not be tracked down within a short space of time. Louisa.
  11. And you wonder why I didn't turn up for forum drinks? If you have a little dig at Sue like that god only knows what sort of time I'd be in for! Louisa.
  12. Yet another hostage situation taking place in Paris as I type. A Jewish supermarket it appears. Louisa.
  13. People who hashtag everything. Turning a serious topic into disrepute with trivial online bs. #annoying #shutthef#%kup Louisa.
  14. Personally the most shocking thing I have heard about this entire barbaric event is that two of these murderers are still on the run. With all the resources of the French police and special forces, why have they not been found? Can you imagine god forbid something similar happening in London? I'd like to think that they would have been caught by now. I guess our guys are more experienced at dealing with terrorism. Louisa.
  15. Penge. Louisa.
  16. What about a cheese grater? Louisa.
  17. maxxi two brand new pubs coming to Peckham this year - John the Unicorn, Rye Lane and The Hope, Melon Road. Both in brand new spots never previously occupied by pubs. Great news I say. I believe the same company that runs the EDT is taking them both on? Louisa.
  18. LL Iceland is much busier than the Peckham branch whenever I've been in. Louisa.
  19. red devil that would be great news as I love a bargain and Iceland does some decent fresh foods too. But speaking to various members of staff, some have confirmed they won't be in a job later this year and they have had their last christmas in ED. Although none of the websites have been updated confirming any of this. I do a lot of my shopping at lidl in Peckham or Penge nowadays in preparation for any Iceland closure. Louisa.
  20. This is true, particularly the ED Rd store, but as James Barber has previously suggested, the likes of Waitrose are not at all interested in any sites away from the main stretch of Lordship Lane itself, and my money is still on M&S taking over Iceland (sadly) at some stage this year. I personally prefer Tesco to Sainsburys because they don't pretend to be anything other than a big supermarket. Louisa.
  21. Been listening to the news and Tesco plans to close 43 of its stores, most of which will be convenience based operations. Does anyone think our local-ish stores (ED Rd and top of Rye Lane) will be at risk? Louisa.
  22. The trouble with a thread like this is it can go off at tangents and confuse everyone else. I know this thread is slightly indulgent for the long term regulars to let off steam about past events, but it would be nice if some more recent members could join in and let us know how they feel on the forum and whether a clique has ever felt apparent to them? Louisa.
  23. The Lounge has certainly changed in the years I've been on the forum. Back in the day with fewer users and a close knit online community the clique controlled every section of the forum (including General issues and gossip), but in a way that was kind of ok because we all knew where we stood. As the forum expanded and the clique lost its grip, they retreated to the safety of the Lounge where they at one stage had a monopoly. New members and people like me rarely posted in here because we were not made welcome. For a period in around 2011/12 this section of the forum was almost an unofficial private members club. A thread such as this would not have been welcome. No way. Louisa.
  24. RPC you don't need to be a new poster to feel the wrath of the lounge clique. I'm regarded as some sort of court jester brought out to entertain the EDF elite when needed, easily brushed aside as a troll when I go against the clique By talking about things they don't like. Especially if exposing the negative activities of the gentrified ED population. Louisa.
  25. Quids stop winding me up or I'll be forced to sit on you. Louisa.
