Burro e Salvia is coming to East Dulwich
Louisa replied to burroesalvalnd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
gh you're having a bubble aren't ya? 6 quid for that? Louisa. -
Seabag there's no difference between frozen and fresh veg, if anything the frozen stuff has been proven to be "fresher" because it's taken from field to freezer retaining its freshness! You really do believe the rubbish you spout don't you? Haha literally crying with laughter here. I bet the likes of Waitrose and all the little fresh this that and the other organic shops love you coming in store. "I saw you coming" syndrome springs to mind. Some people just love being ripped off I swear. Louisa.

Usual pretentious garbage. I swear some people just like to spend the extra on "fresh" stuff so they can convince themselves it's worth the extra dosh they're forking out each month to keep up with the Jones' Louisa.

Goose Green path management in peak hours
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Goose Green must NEVER be built on. I will chain myself to the dubious gate if it were even considered. Any councillor reading this thread thinking this better get those thoughts banished pretty damn fast. On a serious note, the congestion is becoming unbearable during the peak hours of 3-6pm. I often get so angry I feel like exploding in that little park. I swear prams were put on this earth to torment me. And you lot wonder why I use my car? Louisa. -
Goose Green path management in peak hours
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Glad to see people finally taking this issue seriously. Some of the solutions do seem a little extreme, I think just a little thoughtful consideration would be enough. Widening the path would be an option, but this involves removing more green space which I'm sure many would think is unnecessarily at this stage. I've noticed of late a significant number of double prams made worse by a sort of side by side mentality. I've been forced onto the grass more than once. Louisa. -
As ever Fox the voice of common sense and reason. Hear hear. Louisa.

Jeremy the trouble is, people of my ilk still represent a sizeable proportion of the population who would still use these establishments, and we are left high and dry as a result of rising commercial rents. And you're right, I wouldn't fancy eating a wrap whatever that is. Louisa.

Baggs I've just read that article. I'm going to do a bit of a Katie Hopkins twist now, the first name of the journalist sums up for me the type of person we are dealing with in ED. Classic blow-in Home Counties type who want to transform everything and save nothing. If I'm the bane of the guardianista with my "it's not like it was in my day", this chap is the polarised opposite. The fact is rents have been hiked because of a domino effect involving estate agents and gentrifying. Some great local businesses vanishing and being replaced by a business which can afford to pay the extra. The likes of cle can't bare people like me because I'm the final obstacle in transforming this neighbourhood into a clapham-utopia. You might not use Iceland, good for you. A lot of others do and although it's a bit of a stretch to say its held dear, it is a convenient place for many people who like bargains. It's ok for me I drive, I can go elsewhere, not everyone else can. Where's their voice? Bit patronising to call Gravesend earthy too. The insinuation that only a certain type of person lives there, no different to my assumptions over the new folk of ED (most of which is tongue in cheek anyway). Louisa.

Handmade pasta is no different to the freeze dried stuff once it's boiled. And I was drinking real ale long before some hipster decided it was 'cool' so no biggy for me. I much prefer the convenience of driving over a holiday abroad anyway. And as I said, Ocado don't do bulk buy deals on food and I much prefer the direct interaction of the shopping experience rather than the bizarre slightly isolationist approach of online shopping. Louisa.
-
Spot on steveo. Nothing to do with the business failing. Louisa.
-
Why on earth would anyone not want to see the food they are buying rather than paying over the odds to order it online from a middle class grocer who do no such bulk buy deals on food. Fine if your not on a budget I suppose money is no obstacle, but personally I love a bargain. I also love travelling in my own Louisamobil to stock up on these items. It's a win win situation. Louisa.

Why should I change the record when all the places that appeal to me are either going or gone, and replaced with shops I don't see a need in using. Functional places such as Iceland disappearing from the high street, great little family run restaurant like le moulin which by the way DID address its client base and was VERY popular but just failed to attract the new people into the area. I make UKIPs case for them do I? The new ED seems to make the case for champagne socialism in that case too, sneering urban guardian readers claiming to support the needs of the working class and then removing everything they hold dear to them at the same time. Louisa.

A great restaurant replaced with more posh tat for the blow in clapham folk. Sigh. Louisa.

Who cares about mothercare? If you want your fix of cheap crap kids clothes there's one along Rye Lane. Anyway I thought all the poshos of ED prefered that jojo place on LL? This place is perfect for me what with the coming closure of LL store. Bulk buying not just meat but also rice and pasta means I can plan meals in advance. Also somewhere to park the gas guzzler out back too. Louisa.

Opened this morning on the Old Kent Road directly opposite the toys r us store and it has a large car park out the back. Bargain central, huge packs of frozen meat and they're also handing out numerous freebies all day so get down quick before they run out! I went down with my friend earlier. Very impressed indeed. They also have fridges freezers and microwaves for sale and lots of bulk buy goods. Louisa.

If he/she/they happen to be visiting from the Home Counties ED it is, especially if they're thinking of moving to Clapham any time soon. Louisa.

Peckham feels the same in the daytime but night time is very different. As I say, especially weekend nights. The roughest areas have all gone now so with the party culture and rising house prices comes the age old story of London. Not sure about dynamic, it's still a mix of arty student, ethnic grocer and middle class do me up blow ins. Just think that mix is at a tipping point of change. I still don't go down there much as everything I want and need can be found in Bromley, Stratford or Lewisham. Louisa.

If that had been me or fox we would have been accused of trolling and stirring up the cauldron, even if it had been a misunderstood joke. I do agree however, I don't think StraferJack can take the hit on this one for anything other than a bad attempt at humour which backfired and caused bandwagon jumping. I do love this forum sometimes. Louisa.

This end of LL main stretch is now overwhelmingly the better end in terms of shops. With the opening of the cinema I can see this stretch overtaking the top end of the lane in the next few years in terms of footfall and choice. It now makes sense that Waitrose were so badly wanting to bid for the former police station. Louisa. -
Jeremy that's the one. On the outside in bold letters it says 'craft beers'. Louisa.
-
I'm not prepared to compromise on this one. The same happened in Shoreditch with all the bell-end brigade invading the place on Friday and Saturday nights treating the place like a party central forgetting about local residents and literally urinating in the streets an being rowdy into the wee small hours and forgetting its predominantly a residential area. Exactly the same is happening in Peckham unfortunately. Louisa.
-
Yeah so much better now days in Peckham with all the student drunks and hipster wannabes from all over town jumping the overground drunk and rowdy p@$%ing in the streets and generally turning the area into even more of a dustbin than it already was. Yeah great place. Louisa.

I think the humour was lost in translation. As things often are on this forum. I should know. Louisa.
