Is Gary Lineker a Hipster? Louisa.

Beards are disgusting they collect food particles and make people in general look a little pervy IMO. If Mr Louisa grew a beard he would be banished to *Bob* dungeon for eternity. (I hope you're reading this Mr Louisa, as I know how much you chuckle at my posts). Louisa.

Parking outside Sainsburys Local
Louisa replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've never struggled to find a parking spot along that section so I don't see the need for these restrictions. Louisa. -
I always thought she was from Wandsworth? For the very same reasons Katie Hopkins (also in the house) dislikes her, I find her equally annoying. She has been supporting a fellow housemate called Perez Hilton (some sort of US columnist/blogger) who's been deeply disingenuous and annoying. Nadia dislikes Katie so much, and yet rarely confronts her to her face. But more than happy to have a rant behind her back. Really gets my back up. Louisa.

No I cant! I enjoy watching minor celebrities make fools of themselves (even if it does literally turn me into a spiteful horrible person in the process). Louisa.

I know I don't usually do this but Jesus Christ this woman is winding me up something chronic. He has to be one of the most sickly sweet nauseatingly annoying people on TV right now. Her Big Brother experience is showing her off to be a total hypocrite! Discuss.. Louisa.

Nandos were involved in bidding for the site now occupied by Foxtons back in 2007/8 whenever it was. So they clearly aren't concerned about ED having a lack of footfall. I do agree though, Carluccios or Jamies Kitchen type restaurants would suit the demogrpahics better. Louisa.

I have Quids down as a Screaming Orgasm. Louisa.

MrBen oh I do wish I were, might have some influence then! I just thought that particular location if not viable as a pub would be the ideal location for a restaurant chain like Nandos. Particularly as the new cinema would be opening just along the road and it would increase footfall along that stretch. I contacted Nandos and a few other groups and they all got back to me with generic emails apart from Nandos. They seemed interested until I said I was just an interested local resident and then they asked me for details over the lease and if it's definitely closed etc and I obviously didn't have any such answers. I do hope they pursued this building (if it's definitely up for grabs that is) as its a brilliant location for a chain far enough away from the other Indy restaurants not to cause direct competition and close enough for footfall to increase as a result. Louisa.

MrBen I contacted Nandos directly about The Patch and they responded same day and forwarded me directly onto some senior property person within the company who asked me further questions and its exact location etc etc - this was a good month or more ago now though. Louisa.

Hahaha Horsebox that made me laugh very loudly! Louisa.

Jeremy yes this is true, but bare in min a lot of these estuary towns are traditional Labour heartlands, and to be honest aren't entirely homogenous white Britiish enclaves, towns like Chatham have a long tradition of immigrant communities settling (probably even before London) and they only fall into the hands of people like UKIP because the traditional left feel disenfranchised from their socialist roots run by the guardianista snobby elite from London (in their eyes at least). Louisa.
-
Indeed Jeremy, which all came to a climax recently with that Labour MP who went to the Rochester by-election and tweeted that patronising snobby picture online. It's easy for someone like cle who (presumably) lives in an edgy urban environment to make assumptions about people. Bare in mind, the population of many of those allegedly racist hate filled narrow minded towns along the estuary, were or are filled with born and bred Londoners who were either moved during regeneration schemes or chose to retire by the sea. I'm pretty sure most of those people would not like to be labelled narrow minded bigots if they grew up in this sort of inner-London environment, surrounded by every type of race and nationality on earth. It's painfully embarrasing for the left to have such a sharp divide between urban hip lefties and traditional socialists, and does the Labour Party movement no favours at all. Louisa.

its very easy to overstate the influence of the new gentrified London. We have the largest concentration of fried chicken shops of any city in the world and more McDonalds than any city outside of the United States. Hardly something to be proud in a city so gentrified and transformed eh cle? Your opinion of towns along the estuary is typical exaggerated city dwelling lefty snobbery btw - but glad you air those views because many on here would be too scared to say what they really think. Your evaluation is no different to my rants about yummies and ironic beards and glasses in gentrified urban suburbs of inner London. Lots of rough around the edges assumptions about the people you do not live amongst or know little about (I presume), coupled with the ease of throwing around the terms hate-filled, racist, and uneducated loosely and without any acknowledgment that you are of course sneering at the highest level (as I an often accused of doing) with some awful blanket stereotypes. Ah well, that's the fun of the forum I guess! Louisa.

She was still around 5 years ago according to this review of the pub. http://dulwichonview.org.uk/2010/01/01/dulwich-pubs-?-an-occasional-series/ Louisa.

AM I am entirely with you on this one. It's the most grating spelling mistake of all. Shame on you Seabag. Louisa.

Jah how long ago was she last in there? I've been in there a few times since and hadn't seen her and didn't tbink to ask just assumed she wasn't around on those days. I was a regular back in the mid to late 90s when they had live music sessions on Sunday afternoons. Often country/Irish singers. So she is still alive then as far as you are aware? Louisa.

Oh for goodness sakes StraferJack stop spoiling things! The 'drag up posts from years ago police' are out in force tonight! It was just a bit of snow after all. I was a little irate at the time and in hindsight maybe a little short sighted over this one. Just to clarify I've mellowed over this since on reflection and wouldn't say no to some more snow. Louisa.

This was February 8/9th 2009. It was the heaviest snowfall London had experienced in 19 years. We had well over a foot of snow outside, I remember because on the sunday evening I left the spiritualist church in Bexley and could barely navigate my way home! It was horrific. The next day everything along LL was closed, apart from the pubs! I do hope we have a good heavy snowfall this winter but the long range outlook isn't looking hopeful. Louisa.

I can't bare people who won't live and let live over a snow day. After all it's only once in a blue moon! Some people are just members of the killjoy police. Retired here so free to look for bargains, get angry at the world and drink copious glasses of wine and pints of beer. Louisa.

Talking of the Castle pub, does anyone remember/know of an elderly Irish lady by the name of Mary? She had her own corner in this pub she was always such a great character and person to talk with back in the day. Is she still around? Louisa.

People who just don't listen. Louisa.

Just because we happen to be normal down to earth people who don't like seeing the area torn apart by poncy shops doesn't mean we are married for goodness sakes! Louisa.

*Bob* you've turned into Mr sensible pants of late! Where is the wicked sarcasm? Eric and Mags chose to source local suppliers but personally I would choose the frozen option because I don't mind the texture. That article in the mail is interesting. Personally I've always thought it was common sense that freshly frozen veg would retain more antioxidants than stuff that's been sat around for days in cargo losing it's goodness. I've found quite a few scientific articles of interest in the mail over the years Pibe. Louisa.

Lowlander what is this obsession with food being delivered? It's extremely antisocial and representative of all that is lazy about 21st century life. Whilst you are sat at home not getting any exercise I am whizzing about in my car (and on foot) searching out bargains in my local environs. Any money you save by having stuff delivered is offset by the additional premium a firm like Waitrose whack on top of every day essentials. A car isn't just about convenience for people of a certain age, it's a necessity in some cases. It also means I don't rely on public transport if I fancy a leisurely trip to the coast on a weekend. Looking at the cost of trains etc I'm very happy to stick with my car. Jeremy, Eric and Mags sourced all their veg from fresh local suppliers I can assure you. Louisa.
