That fancy fish and chip place, next to the chicken shop
Louisa replied to tetris's topic in The Lounge
Here's a timeout review of something fishy in Lewisham for those who don't believe me. Trust me on this it's well worth a visit. http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/something-fishy Louisa. -

Yeah dwe, but only since the influx of the annoying middle class guardianista urbanites into the area. You know, people who have nothing else to worry about on a daily basis. Louisa. -

Exactly *Bob*. From my peeping through the window sessions I've noticed lots of Middle class parents with annoying kids running around. Wooden benches. Meh. I've not even been inside and I'm angry. Louisa. -

It's what the middle classes do. Vent. Moan. Mostly about stuff that wouldnt bother anyone else. I hate what this area is becoming. Louisa. -

It's just middle class venting on a public forum because people have nothing else to worry about or talk about. It's a park, lots of people use it, stuff happens which is inconsiderate. You deal with it on the spot, you don't post about it on here. There was no biting or anything bad involved, so why is it worthy of a thread? We all live in a big city, lots of people and animals all sharing a small space. Some of these people or animals will be out of control, most won't. No one was hurt, dog owner needs to learn to control dog and parent needs to socialise kid with more dogs so child isn't scared. "I was in the park and this happened today". Boring. Louisa. -

*Bob* I refuse to spend a penny over the magic tenner for fish and chips. Something in the price range of 4-6 pounds is more my cup of tea, but I am tempted now I know they serve booze. If I do go in I will not be ordering British water fish, as it seems pointless at the extra prices. Something more exotic with a nice glass of white wine maybe. If it's crap I won't hold back, it's only fair. Louisa. -

Just yawning an this pointless thread. Back in the day I had plenty to get my teeth into (no dog pun intended), nowadays we have the same old stuff reheated in the microwave for another outing on the forum. Seriously, a dog in a park runs upto someone? If the dog hasn't attacked or been vicious why is this even worthy of a thread? You confront said issue there and then and that's it. Right, I'm gonna open up a thread about wasps, why to the hell not? Everytime I go to the park they chase me, I want park wardens or pest controllers to do something about it. Those flowers they plant in time for summer encourage these little demons to chase me. They need to be controlled. Louisa. -

Jeremy I don't think its the pricing that's the only issue, it's the standard. I was a big fan of Wheelers of St James's back in the day (not sure if it even exists today) and they served some absolutely lovely freshly prepared fish meals (and a an excellent wine menu to boot), I considered them pricy but always on the button with quality and it was a nice treat. By the sounds of this place it's a big standard chippy that happens to have more variety in fish and charges a little extra for something that's not even upto the standard of an old school fish & chip shop. In other news I think wasps should be controlled in the park. Chasing after people wanting to sting them for no reason. Makes me so ..... (Insert word) and I just hate my life and everyone who does anything around me etc etc. In other news a general election is just around the corner and it's officially spring. Louisa. -

I once had a square sausage battered and served with battered chips at chippy in Telford. Apparently that's a local tradition too. Those midlanders and their peculiar ways. Louisa. -

Precisely Otta, for anyone who's been to Somehing Fishy on the high street opposite the market in Lewisham you'll know what I'm talking about. Why would I spend petrol money travelling all that way if it wasn't for something nice edcam? Surely that would offset any cost benefits I would make by going somewhere "cheap" for "any old crap" as you put it. This place is a proper Lewisham market tradition, they've been there for decades and used to have an additional restaurant upstairs during the 70s and 80s. They have a wide ranging menu, and even serve pie and mash. It's always busy, and doesn't mix it's chip oil with everything else they fry (unlike some chip shops locally). Louisa. -

This place is a bloody rip off. I've looked at the prices and numerous times and been shocked, hoping that they would eventually knock them down a bit. If I want nice fish & chips i go to Something Fishy in Lewisham, good quality, good price and a good atmosphere - minus the pretentious snobbery. Louisa. -

Either way, at least they would be elected and not given the position as a birth right, never able to be removed by the people in what is allegedly a democracy. Louisa. -

I'm not a big fan of monarchy and I've never hidden my dislike for our take on democracy in this country, but I can appreciate that the majority (in most polls) still seem to like the status quo and I respect that. Louisa. -
Otta can I put my tuppence worth in and recommend a cafe miles away not many people will have heard of or visited in Dulwich but it comes highly bloody recommended. Mus's Cafe at Brockley Cross it's a classic old school caf. The bubble is amazing, the staff are friendly and the food is always freshly cooked and to a good standard. They sometimes offer free refills I've noticed too. Louisa.

Pros Pulls in yank tourists spending cash. Looks good on TV. Cons Unelected and outdated. Creates a sense of social class entitlement. Louisa. -
It's interesting how trolling has become a parody of itself. We are entering the age of the direct, everyone knows I'm a troll 'age'. Very bizarre. Louisa.
