  1. As pointed out LM, ToastED is hardly French, neither is the one we are not allowed to name. Granted we have one Turkish place to eat in and a few gastropub type menus. Alongside various Italian and Indian places that's about it? One Thai place too forgot about that. Disappointing at best for a resident, let alone a visitor who reads all the estate agent hype about LL and it's gastronomic treats! Agree with the Fox, cinema culture these days isn't what it used to be. Even on a 2 for 1 offer they're half empty most of the time. Who knows, I wish it well of course, but whether it drastically changes the lane in the same way an M&S or Waitrose would, I'm yet to be convinced. Louisa.
  2. I see your point BNG, and I agree wholeheartedly. If they can't make a date and stick to it, not once, not twice but three times (and who's knows if it's going to change yet again), trusting in their business model once that open becomes a little harder too. That's the unfortunate truth. Louisa.
  3. Oh Foxy if only I had the capital. I think we could show these people a thing or two. Considering how well advertised this area is, it's absolutely absurd that we do not have a decent fairly priced good service selection of restaurants to suit all tastes! Louisa.
  4. Spot on Foxy. It's all about the offering. And rah, that Mexican place may have closed for a variety of reasons the main one being it wasn't that good? But nowadays in London we have a healthy Mecican restaurant scene and there is NO reason for us not to have one here on our doorstep. As for French cuisine or should I say "French" in ED, well, I won't even go there. Louisa.

I love Hong Hong, always fresh and good prices, but it's a take out, not an eat in restaurant. I have to go as far as Sheen for a decent sit down Chinese meal these days, it's bang out of line. Louisa.
  6. This really angers me. We have lost a Mexican and now Turkish restaurant. We've only very recently got a sushi place, we still don't have any Greek or decent Chinese places. Someone needs to sort it out. Ridiculous. Louisa.
  7. Lordship Lane restaurant scene circa 2015: Indian/Italian and/or Pizza restaurants in abundance. Anything else? Ermm not really. Louisa.
  8. Oh no I really cannot believe this. Another pizza place? Is this for real? As soon as the cinema comes along come the restaurants to cash into the night life trade! Louisa.
  9. So she did hold the gate open for you then? After youd made her aware you were walking up? I don't get what the issue is. Louisa.
  10. Having said all this, even if the developers win the day, sometimes they will choose not to go ahead against great local opposition, as appears to have been the case with the whole M&S/Iceland situation on LL. Louisa.
  11. My happiest scale came out at 32% anywhere. I suppose I'm stuck in East Dulwich forever then. Louisa.
  12. I got Medway in Kent. I hear most blows ended up with 'cloudcuckooland'. Louisa.
  13. I miss the Benny Hill Show. Totally un-politically correct, dated by today's style comedy, maybe a little sexist at times, but I absolutely adored the man and his show. Brings back some great memories of the 70s and 80s for me. Louisa.
  14. Nauseating. "East Dulwich Vilage". Louisa.
  15. I predict the Libs will cling on to 25/35 seats and go in with the Tories again alongside some sort of confidence supply job with the DUP. Unless Labour can seriously pull ahead in the next month or so. Louisa.
  16. Yes swathes of England vote Labour, but my point is if you look at the popular vote the Tories will win England overall by a couple of percentage points ahead of Labour meaning they will more than likely be the largest party in England. With England being the largest constituent part of the UK as a whole, how would it be democratic to have the majority voting for a pro- unionist party in the largest section of the country and the effective losing second main party forming a coalition with two separatist parties to represent the whole of the country, when the largest part has voted for a different party. Makes even less sense than this coalition government we've had to put up with for the last five years. The only way to fix this problem is to adopt a more proportional and therefore representative voting system. First past the post has had its day in what has become a fractured multi party system. Louisa.
  17. Well that's my last solar eclipse scuppered! Never mind, I saw the Faeroe Islands on TV. Louisa.

As MM suggests, one of the NI parties would need to be involved. England is the largest constituent country of the UK and will probably vote Tory by 2/3 points ahead of Labour based on current projections. Scotland will vote overwhelmingly SNP and Wales Labour. However you look at it from a regional perspective, someone is going to come off the loser unless we have some sort of unity coalition between the two main parties which isn't out of the question. Louisa.
  19. Milk. I'm a red top girl. Louisa.
  20. In most poll of polls the tories have edged ahead by a point or two these past few weeks. The test comes over the coming day with reaction to the budget (if any). I was always under the impression the largest party had first go at forming a government, and based on current figures that will still be the tories by an average 15/20 seats. Louisa.
  21. Loz I've checked the forecast, clear blue skies and sunshine all day tomorrow. Louisa.
  22. Labour was caught napping in Scotland and now the rest of us pay for their mistakes. A nationalist party propping up a second failed clear mandate for either main party to govern with. Electoral reform now I say. Louisa.
  23. Excellent advise fox, know of a place I can buy an eclipse viewer? I've considered the top of Sydenham Hill (horniman end) but it's not ideal for parking. Louisa.
  24. Absolutely on the button Otta. I was hoping to find someone who allow me to gain access to the rooftop of the flats top of Overhill RD. I do have my own deckchair, not that its a necessity of course. Somewhere where I don't have noise and people around me, alone I wish to survey the city beneath me in almost darkness. Louisa.
  25. The solar eclipse of the sun will be taking place tomorrow morning between 7am and 11am, the point at which 85% coverage provides us with an eerie darkness in the morning at about 9.35am approx. Anyone know of a high up, decent vantage point locally which won't be rammed? Louisa.
