  1. How else do I get to Iceland in Penge when I'm in a hurry? Louisa.
  2. The opening line is probably the funniest part of the article. The rest has been taken fresh from an estate agency area prospectus. "As Peckham and Camberwell creep up the league table of the capital?s trendiest areas, neighbouring Dulwich remains as genteel and sedate as ever. Not much changes in SE21. It views its up-and-coming neighbours with the same bemused condescension that a retired judge regards the hoop in his grandson?s ear. He doesn?t understand it, but he?s too rich, old and well-established to care." http://www.cityam.com/220855/focus-dulwich-village-life-four-miles-shard Louisa.
  3. Since the Fry's brand has been owned by Cadbury's for years and probably all made in the same factory, I wonder if the standard Cadbury recipe is used as the coating for Fry's products now? Or if the original Fry's chocolate recipe is still used? Louisa.
  4. Hear hear Jeremy. Comfort food doesn't have to be gourmet to hit the spot. Louisa.
  5. "But it wasn't until Bristol company Fry & Son made a 'chocolate delicieux a manger' in 1847 that the first bar of chocolate appeared, as we know it today. The first ever chocolate bar was made from a mixture of cocoa powder and sugar with a little of the melted cocoa butter that had been extracted from the beans." https://www.cadbury.co.uk/the-story We as a nation discovered the chocolate bar! And now that company has been eaten up twice and is under the ownership of a multinational. How sad. Louisa.
  6. Talking of Fry's anyone old enough to remember 'five boys' chocolate bar with the almost ghoulish looking pictures on them? Think Fry's was bought out by Cadbury and consequently is now part of Mondelez. Still love a Fry's Turkish Delight and a Peppermint Creme bar. Louisa.
  7. I don't mind Mars chocolate, but I grew up on Cadbury's/Fry's so I'm always going to be a little biased. Of course, both British brands are now part of an American owner conglomerate so it matters not. Louisa.
  8. If anyone gets half a chance to pop down the world food aisle in the nearest tesco extra (probably Surrey quays) you have to try Cadbury's Cherry Ripe (Australian). It's bloody amazing. I agree, nothing beats the taste of Dairy Milk. Gorgeous stuff. Louisa.
  9. Is it just me or are the average size of the likes of Wispa, Flake, Twirl, Dairy Mill all that little bit smaller now? Bought a pack of four flakes at the pound shop thinking it was a bargain. Got them home only to be disappointed by the ridiculous size of the bar. Down it in one! Louisa.
  10. Not recently but I have done in the past and may well do so more regularly now that our store has gone. I had a drive down to OKR warehouse store few weeks back and was very impressed with the setup. I asked to speak to the manager about finding a suitable site in ED seeing as the customer service team didn't reply. Louisa.
  11. Is 'The Coach and Horses' still Irish? Used to have good music sessions back in the 80's and 90's. (Clapham Park Road) Louisa.
  12. I agree red devil. Although, never personally had an issue with Iceland. I've heard a lot of horror stories about Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco however. Louisa.
  13. There really are some scum in this world. Keeping something that isn't there's. For all she knew this could have belonged to a disabled or elderly person with limited access to the outside world, reliant on home delivery. Louisa.
  14. Iceland Iceland Iceland Iceland Iceland. Louisa.
  15. If I see the word 'Waitrose' on this forum one more time..... Louisa.
  16. I'm hot, bothered and tetchy all seasons. Must be this place. Louisa.
  17. Brilliant piece. Couldn't stop grinning throughout. The recollections from the Clapham of the 80's and 90's ring remarkably similar to those of Peckham today (or maybe five years ago). Louisa.
  18. People eating and drinking outside pubs in the stuffy polluted petrol stinking air. Barbecues the size of a house for sale in garden centres no one in their right mind would buy cos it's probably gonna rain for the next 6 weeks. Shorts. Louisa.
  19. God have the Tories started restricting BBC airtime now too! Louisa.
  20. I have always seen myself in one not long from now. I'd want it personalised. Louisa.
  21. Loz that's your opinion. Lots of people within the party and the wider Labour movement will think he speaks a lot of sense. It's their job to encourage everyone else to believe that too. Louisa.
  22. I disagree. I think you need to make the case for your beliefs to be successful. The old argument that elections are only won on the centre ground have been proved misleading. The truth is, making your case and presenting your policies in a positive and agreeable manner can and will shift where the centre ground is, and that is the real way to change things. If we all wanted camera friendly leaders who agreed with each other we would never change anything! Louisa.
  23. He won't win. But he should win. He's the only man in that shortlist who represents anything remotely true to the traditions of the Labour movement. I'd rather commit political suicide standing by my principles, than be elected to oversee things I do not believe in. The man has principles, it should count for something. Louisa.
  24. Wiltshire Farm Foods. So, Ronnie.. When did you last tuck into a lamb hotpot delivered straight to your door? Grrr Louisa.
