  1. I'm old enough to remember when houses sold in this area for less than one thousand pounds, remember your houses in only worth anything when you want to sell, while your living in it, it is a home not a video for Foxtons.................
  2. My Partner was shopping at Sainsbury's on Friday night (30th) about 10pm. As she was leaving she called a taxi, and when she went to the pick-up point there was a gentleman already there, they got talking and he had been waiting for about 20 minutes. He went back into the shop to ring again, the taxi company said another 10 to 15 minutes. When the taxi came (20minutes) it was about 10.45pm, the gentleman told my partner to take the cab he would wait for the next one. what a gentleman, there a still some around, I know in these days of equality.........blah...blah... but it is refreshing that there are some gallant gentlemen around, if anyone does know who he was please, please pass on my partners thanks....
  3. Great picture, I think I may be old enough to remember the fence! I think it is a great shame that the Council want to remove the fence, since it was put up it has been great to see so many people, including lots of children, playing and just sitting in the dog free zone.(My window looks out over the Green) I love dogs my self, but not all dog owners will take their 'deposits' home,or keep their dogs on a lead. I know my sight is not as good as when I was younger but I don't think the green mental fence is an eye sore, I've seen worse, I think this is the Council 'consulting with the community' in fact it's only responding to the articulate middle classes with time on their hands to harang their local Councillor.
  4. I live by the Goose Green roundabout and work in East Dulwich rd, the best commute ever, could never go back to a journey into Town!!
  5. Goose Green, doing my ironing (though I keep stopping to read the ED forum, I'm thinking about my Holiday, going to Bryher on Friday...... ( not telling you were that is - as we want to keep it secret!!)
  6. the congestion charge, a very bold and brave move, also thanks for the improvements in the Bus service, the Oyster card is the best!!
  7. Do I second that!!! Especially the thought of seeing the last of those little B----y cars!!!
  8. Has anyone heard of the plans for a new Southwark Town hall in Tooley Street?
  9. Obviosly ED needs a good reputable window cleaner - I would give it a go but at my age I think I would be an insurance nightmare!!!!Come on some one fit and younger should give it a go!!!
  10. With that sort of service - don't use them!!!!
  11. Yes you are correct, in this country you do not need ID to vote, or even a polling card , you only have to give your name and address, (wait till we all have to have the new Govenment ID cards...) I was amazed yesterday when I went to vote THERE WAS A QUEUE!!! I have been able to vote for some years and I have never seen that before!!!
  12. Oh yes lets do something to the Foxtons minis - I'm fed up with nearly getting run over by them - they go too fast - I wouldn't use them to buy or sell a house!! I know there are some problems with the service from Southwark, but compared to other Boroughs they are not too bad - at least they don't charge for large collections of rubbish from domestic premises (old furniture etc..), like so many other Authorities do!!
  13. A big thank you to chrisardy, my grandson and I will have some fun this summer watching steam trains!!
  14. Does anyone know if there is a website that gives details of steam trains, day and times etc.. traveling on local tracks, my grandson George loves steam trains (Thomes the Tanks has a lot to answer!!)He love to hear about me as a little boy going to Kings Cross and seeing the big steam trains going up North......
  15. I had a stroke in January, and was taken to Kings A&E, I could not have asked for better care. There was a specialist, in strokes, on call in A&E, and he immediatley admitted me to their specialist stroke unit. The following day I had a physio, OT and a speech therapist!! all assesing me ang getting me to excercise! The staff on the ward were fantastic (what ever they are paid it's not enough!!)After a stoke the sooner you are up and about and excersising the better chance of recovery you have. I was in hospital a week and then I was discharded to my friend's home (who lives in Dulwich - I live in bromley)as she lives on the ground floor. The Community neuro-rehabilitation team, visited immediatly and were excellent, giving me excersises and monitoring my progress. I am now home and able to get out and about, with the use of a walking stick. I can't praise Kings enough, especially the Friends Stroke Unit, and Southwark PCT for their care, and what is often forgotten is that Health Care in the country is free at the point of delivery, no one askes for you insurance or credit card details befoe they treat you !.
  16. I wouldn't worry about YOT moving in to East Dulwich!!I hear Southwark Council are going to rename East Dulwich, South Peckham is the most popular, and the likely choice.....................Foxtons may relocate.......
