  1. I agree, I think this is an unnecessary, silly and wasteful proposal. Where some speed reduction measures may be useful is the bend at Stewart Rd, where Cheltenham Rd meets Peckham Rye East. I have often seen drivers taking the near blind bend at around 30 - 40 mph or on occassion more, directly onto the zebra crossing.
  2. Someone who is free from a substance abuse habit will have clear bright eyes, not glazed. They will have a fresh complexion, not ashen and pimply. They will have a good posture, not concave and slouched. This is not a delusion to see this difference but I'm sure your mates on here will be rolling in the isles at your ascerbit wit

It's very easy to see when someone is free from a drug addiction, they have a certain energy about them that isn't driven by craving but of course you have to be free of it yourself to see it.
  4. I never give to anyone who uses alcohol, narcotics of any kind or tobacco, until they can satisfy me that they have not imbibed either for at least one year, in which case I do. Until such time as people put a complete stop to their circularity, there is no point in supporting. When they do, and move into direction, I sponsor.
  5. The ginger headed fellow who sits on the pavement outside the co-op with a white blanket round him was huddled in the doorway of a shop oposite asleep at 6am this morning. He would seem genuinly homeless.
  6. Sir Michael Gambon sat at an adjacent table in the Dulwich Cafe about a year ago. He ponced a fag off me outside too
  7. I think the thing to do is to ask once in a mature reasonable way, but only once. Then go through due process. Get your neighbours on board where possible and when emailing cc your local beat officer as well as the environmental enforcement team. Do try at least once to notify the people involved what impact it is having on you but do ensure to get it in writing also and witnessed where possible. A paper trial is important in these matters.
  8. Yes, I think it's mild enough, the only concern is the high winds, maybe if they are well sheltered they are fine. As far as the amount of rain is concerned, what they don't want to take up for themselves will just pass by their roots. Personally, I wouldn't plant them out in their final growing place until they are about on their third or forth pair of leaves. Good luck

Was your father a professional or semi professional cyclist at one time? We used to talk about bikes.
  10. I have noticed over the last several appointments that I have had with GP's at DMC, that one rarely sees the same face twice, I have mentioned this in a consultation and the doctor I saw admitted that the management cannot hold on to staff for whatever reason. Locums , it seems, now hold the practice together.
  11. Is this the land that the sunday car boot has started using?
  12. I'm really glad to hear of undercover and plain clothed police work, I'd like to see a lot more of it.

I think there is an issue of conflict of interest when Southwark council, and probably every other borough council for that matter, come to taking action against their own institutions or tennants that cause nuisance using evidence gained by Southwark employed enforcement teams. That's how it seems to me.
  15. You are right to try and get support from neighbours. It is very important that you also put down in writing, times, dates of nuisance. Also very important how it affects the quality of your life. Detail is important. Keep notes. Use photographs too and set the camera to record time and date where appropriate. When ringing the environmental enforcement team, get a reference number from the person answering the phone. The ref numbers begin 008, again get it all down on paper, you are building up a case. When the noise team come they make a subjective assessment which means they listen and decide if it constitutes a statutory nuisance, a criminal offence. If they consider it does they have the power to enter the offending premises and ask them to turn the music down. That is not the end of the matter though and it is a bit of a long haul. Make your local councillor aware of your plight too. basically make all the authorities aware and make sure it is all in writing, avoid phone conversations I feel for you.
  16. apparently you should select plus 15 to have any significant medicinal benefit....so I've been told

The work I mentioned is being done by F.M Conway Ltd. They undertake road and paving work and were the contractor responsible for the uphill stream, another of my blithering idiot threads.
  18. Nette. I didn't see your posting until I saw it this morning but I know when I'm beaten. You win. I love you

  23. Thankyou all for your imput. I think on balence I am going to bring this to the attention of the company involved and the borough works dept. Would anyone happen to know the correct person to speak to at Southwark Council? Thanks
  24. It would seem my posting regarding shoddy workmanship by Southwark Councils contractor has vanished overnight. Has anyone seen it? Ok, I've found it

Who is paying for it indeed. It's publicly funded I would have thought so you and I are paying for it, aren't we?
