  1. +1 for cycling. Just started and it really is easier than I thought it would be.
  2. Perhaps it is because closing a door would make at least some noise, increasing the risk that they might be caught in the act.
  3. I don't mind the Cherry Tree but I do think the burger is overpriced. There's nothing wrong with it but it doesn't include chips, whereas at the price point that it's at it really should. If the price of the burger was in line with that of the EDT, I'd eat here more often.
  4. That's not true Jah Lush; there are pubs in central London which sell Peroni for ?5. Anyway, I have just returned from a meal here and agree with most of the thread title, save for the last part. The service was awful. The staff were running around like headless chickens and the head chef resorted to delivering our food himself, because he was fed up of seeing his food waiting on the service counter. ?35 per head for three drinks, two starters, two mains (admittedly the more expensive mains) and 1 desert. I'd go back, but I'm not in a great hurry.

  6. Lots of people at work tell me that a value way of getting a decent suit which fits well is to buy off the peg from M&S and to then find a tailor to make adjustments for you. You're not going to end up with something that looks like it's come from Savile Row, but then you're not going to be paying four figures.
  7. I agree with the second post by Chris. In a way, the protection available to you is greater if you are dealing with a sole trader (or a partnership, which also has no registration requirements). I sole trader can still have people working for them. I'm not certain as to whether it is typical, but I imagine it is not uncommon. There are disadvantages to trading via a company, such as double taxation (the Company would pay corporation tax and the builder (as a shareholder) would have to pay income tax on any salary / dividends that he pays himself. As a sole trader, however, would only pay income tax.

  9. I'm sure I am going to get slated for this, but my experience with Jim was far from positive. To cut a long story short, he tried to rip me off for the carpet. He gave me some samples but after some research I found that he was vastly marking up the prices on the carpet, despite telling me he was basically providing it for cost price (when I initially called him, I told him I was sourcing carpet separately but he basically insisted on 'doing all of that for me'). I didn't use him so can't speak for his quality of work, which no doubt is decent.

Decent pizza at that, too (my opinion and the opinion of plenty of others, hence why FM is so busy all of the time). Your reference to cheese on toast is a little bit pathetic to be honest.
  11. Agree with Sue and Jeremy. Sorsi & Morsi was very average (in my opinion) and, whilst I loved Draft House, the beer was too expensive.

    Pool

Does anyone here like playing pool (English) and needs a partner to play with? I love playing, but don't really have anyone in the area to play with. I've been to Canavan's in Peckham before, which does the job just fine. If anyone is interested in starting a pool club, post here / drop me a PM.
  13. Went to FM Mangal last night based on recommendations on this thread. Fantastic food (probably some of the best Turkish I have had outside of Turkey) but the service was a joke. Booked a table for two for 8:15pm, arrived and there was a queue of people trying to get a table. Couple in front of us had not booked but were seated straight away. We waited for about 20 minutes for our table. Once seated, no one asked us if we wanted a drink for about another 10 minutes. Eventually got a drink at 9:00pm. Rest of the service was very slow. I would go back, but I would try to go back on a quieter night.
  14. I think that's quite a shame. Just because he doesn't want to sell lager due to his own beliefs, does not mean he will be judging you for deciding to drink it. Hopefully the owner has his own beliefs yet at the same time tolerates those of others (as plenty of people in society in general do). But each to their own. maxxi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Odd really as when i spoke to the owner of Swadesh > at a private party there, a few weeks before they > stopped selling alcohol, he said it was a price > thing, that they couldn't afford it - but maybe he > was reluctant to discuss spiritual matters. > > Growing up in the midlands lots of curry houses > were byo as they were really cafes rather than > restaurants, makes for a much cheaper night out; > though I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking > booze into a place where the where the owner has > declared his refusal to stock/serve it on > religious grounds. > > As a sensitive soul I would feel the disapproval > breathing down my neck so knowing he feels that > way I would probably - if I wanted a lager with my > vindaloo - go elsewhere.
  15. I'm glad it will be BYO. I think the majority of punters are probably not bothered whether or not they can get a complementary baileys at the end and you can buy small bottles of wine if you only want a small glass.
  16. I got mine online, although can't quite remember where from.
  17. What you're looking for is a 'mastic' professional. There was someone I used a while ago, but I can't find his number.
  18. Hi all Does anyone have any recommendations for someone to fit a garden fence (including concrete posts) and general landscape gardening?
  19. Another website I can recommend is stuckforstaff. It costs money to sign up but not too much.

Look up private parking > charges online. /\/\/\/\/\This/\/\/\/\/\ However, I really don't see why you are bothering even posting this. You got a ticket (which you wouldn't have had to pay anyway) and were subsequently let off. Stop the press!
  21. I don't know how or why I ended up replying to a thread that was three years old! I can't even recall how I stumbled upon this thread. I feel slightly stupid!
  22. OP, especially given that this suit is a different size to your other half's, it is bound to be returned to the dry cleaners - whoever has it will have no interest in keeping it and they will certainly want theirs back. Even if they do not notice for a while, they are bound to go back to the same dry cleaners (it sounds like they are a regular) with some different dry cleaning. I would sit tight - you will get it back. I speak with experience too - this happened to me with a dry cleaners in Islington.
