Hi first mate, I'm a reserve for the main planning and one of the sub-committees. The email reply you've recevied from officers you've kindly forwarded responds to your spefic query - why werent you told a committee would sit and decide this application. The officer has given you a generic answer that you would be told when the decision goes to committee. But this decision is no longer expected at committee but rather under delegated powers by officers. east Dulwich councillors have read all the documents on the web portal this time and before. We requested this decision be decided by a planning committee IF officers were minded under delegated powers to grant permission. Officers have confirmed in writing several times they are writing a report to refuse the application. But I've asked again because it is taking an awfully long time for this to happen and this delay is causing concern.

Hi rahrahrah, Just psotted that I've not followed up on your complaint aobut Heber School rubbish collecitons taking place at 5am. Sorry. And have now started finding out about this.

The FM Conways contract Southwark has agreed is considered cheaper than pan London deals others have signed-up for. But we have had a number of local issues where contracted aspects such as keeping residnets advised and informed just doesnt happen effectively. The work on Crystal Palace Road for example had huge number of snagging issues - that went on for months and months after the official works had ended. So I can understand the odd residents having a thing about them if they've been on the receiving end.

Hi bonaome, Because the majority who travel slightly slower than 20mph would go faster and we'd have even more crasjhes. The current crash rate costs society aorund ?400,000 each year. What a waste due to human's being crushed etc. Also, a shopping high street should feel more pleasant and safer. Hi DJHQ, rahrahrah, The research shows that such speed limits bring down speeds by 1-2 mph. The DfT advice is this 1-2 mph on average is concentrated in the one's going much faster than 20mph. This should translate in fewer craches with less severity.

Hi Rhinestone Cowboy, We were going to have a conference call - local ED and Peckham Rye councillors with the cabinet councillor and officers. Sadly conference calls are beyond Southwark Council. I kid you not. So instead we've been asked to give to give our written feedback. I've lent my support that the Friern Road experimental traffic order be made permanent. Number of reasons including traffic evaporation, safer area around the school and cycle provision.

For context the Harris Federation in Southwark are currently 2 primary schools out of 70+ in Southwark and 3 secondary schools out of 15 state primary schools.

The preferred SE24 site for JKPS is on the SE22 border. So it would work well for helping witH Dulwich primary school places shortage and relieving pressure from East Dulwich. But clearly it's only a small part of any solution.

My understanding is that it wasnt a robbery but outside the Sikh temple on Shawbury Road. I've asked for more information. It sounds like a number of witnesses and I'm sure from memory the temple has CCTV. So it's very likely someone will be arrested.

The briefing I've had was that the stabbing took place at 5.30pm on Shawbury Road close to the Lordship Lane entrance. I'm led to believe the victim will recover. Lytcott Grove is only around 300m away.

The Roke Manor situation gives me concern. The Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove is pushing beyond what I understand the legislation to allow. I suspect its hard for any educaiton charity wanting his favour to resist requests to takeover a school. But what we're proposing locally in East Dulwich is two new Harris Primary schools. The vision we've agreed is that they will in the top 10% for attainment and individual pupil progress. The admissions being distance based. That Ofsted would rate them outstanding. Yes, I can imagine reaching these standard makes such schools driven with teacher performance. The whole national teacher career path doesnt allow for that intensity for 40+ years - talking to a Canadian teacher they have sabbaticals to recharge batteries. So yes Harris quite possibly try and attract the best possible teachers - I'd hope all schools do. And yes being a Harris employee probably wont be for everyone.

And his prosecution and villeficaiton led to his death. It turns out he was a secret war hero. To me, more importantly people presecuted of being gay under past laws will still be alive and pardoning them could make a difference to their lives.

As with most oil economies he appears to have spent it liberally on the poor but in the process killed the economy - they're borrowing large sums form China. So whatever peoples views of what Chavez did it's entirely unsustainable. It's a shame he couldnt have acheived greater equality in a lasting way. The economy there, despite oil wealth, is under performing as it has for a number of years its neighbours. Large number of mega currency devlautions. So long term the current policies will lead to greater poverty and a mega crunch. Very sad.

Hi Cedges, I'm sure you're right in some cases. But the evidence is that with low mean speed and higher 85th percentile speeds that in such circumstances drivers are unclear the correct speed limit. Making it 20mph will involve making this crystal clear.

Hi P68, I know that M&S are the intending a new shop for the site whose latest planning application been rejected. The application was fundamentally flawed. Stupid things like building on land the freeholder doesnt own and the owner wont sell. Stupids things like not telling the legal land owner which is a legal requirement. I'm relieved its been refused but seek a permanent solution to this site. As you say it seems clear Iceland have decided its not worth staying compared to increased rent. Personally I'd welcome M&S. I think it will generate more business for Lordship Lane. But I don't want to see the problems that the Somerfield extension and flats above cause neighbouring streets (smidgen before I was elected in 2006). I also know Waitrose have told the freeholder they'll happilly move in as the site currently is. So I don't fear for Lordship Lane due to this shop remaining empty at some point. And while the Freeholder gets their act together Iceland goes on. Funnily enough if you do fear for Lordship Lane then having 12-18 months of site closure and rebuilding would be the worst possible result.

Hi EDLove, Yes I agree it's hugely embarassing that so much litter is dropped let alone not picked up at our station. Southern. I regularly contact them about East Dulwich station issues. Litter is always mentioned and I've asked how we can permanently sort it out. But its all becoming a horrible grot spot. Would anyone be interested in forming a Friends group? Regards james.

Hi shareofhouse, The BBC link isnt working but got there via the other link. It states 294 public bodies since 2009 have been banned some like Southwark permanently. It cited not sending back contracts in timely manner - presumably they charge a fee and I can guess how long it takes to get a legal department to check a contract especially as it will have onorous clauses - that's likely to require senior management committee authority. I'm a member of the Audit & Goverance committee. I'll ask that it's added to the agenda as clearly something happened and councillors have not been made aware. I;l let you know what I find.
