  1. Hi fazer71, I popped along and spotted about 6 puddles in 15m stretch. Council officers have visited and assured me it will be on next year maintenace schedule. Many thanks for pointing this out. 2. Hi fazer71, It clearly includes lots and lots of property overheads unrelated to East Dulwich. It's probably a divison of thE Met Property divison fixed cost structure. I think the driver is more the land sale opportunity. I'll PM you some other bits and pieces.
  3. AS predicted Bromley council are dead against the extensino going there. LArgely becuase it replaces a fast suburban trains with the same number of smaller slower tube trains. Sadly this hasnt yet been thought through.
  4. Hi Fazer71, Somehow the police think East Dulwich station costs them ?277,000 to run in electricity, gas bills. I've been the. It's not that hot. The good thing about a local Police base is that officers minimise travel time - minutes to walk to a local area needing help or advice. But the Boris plan is to base our local officers in Camberwell Police station. As they won't have their own vehicles they'll reach us via buses. They'll be going a frying by bus. So much of their time will be spent unproductively. That isn't a good use of our tax payers money. Cross party Dulwich councillors are supporting a local interim police base at the Dulwich Hospital gatehouse. This looks increasingly likely to happen. The East Dulwich councillors eventually hope a permanent police station will be built on part of the current olive station when it's replaced.
  5. In our are the odd disabled parking bay. The CPZ's referred to are existing ones across the borough. They've packaged up a large number of different changes to save costs.
  6. Ltest communication I've recieved " Update at 1120am The fire is still burning and the fire brigade remain in control of the whole complex, including the library. As such, no council officers have been able to enter any of the premises. The council's building control is currently on site and the insurers are engaged. Wardens will remain around the site for reassurance purposes. The initial assessment is that the whole building complex, including the library, is likely to be out of action for months. Every attempt will be made to bring services back on line from that building as quickly as possible, but the damage is extensive. Arrangements are already being made for an alternative One Stop Shop to open nearby. Until then, customers are asked to access Peckham or Bermondsey and also use on line services. There is likely to be some disruption to the call centre due to technical equipment and telephone routes within Walworth town hall being affected by the fire. Technicians are working hard with customer services colleagues to minimise any disruption. The library is closed and is likely to remain so for some months. This is because of expected water damage in the basement and also because the fire door leads in to a courtyard where there is severe damage from the fire. Again, a full assessment can't be made until council officers gain access. The borough archive is in the basement and there may have been some damage. Again, the full extent won't be known until the council has access. In terms of museum artefacts, there are three galleries and artefacts have been recovered from one by the LFB and taken to nearby council premises for storage. Please note that at any time, only around 1% of the Cuming collection is out on display and it is believed that those items that are in storage should be ok, although there may be water damage. A full assessment will not take place until council officers can gain access. The council has a contract with disaster recovery assistance specialists and that has been activated. Museum staff are currently working from Tooley Street and where the rescued artefacts have gone in to temporary storage. Some staff are understandably very distressed and counselling has been made available and any personal possessions lost in the fire will be replaced. In terms of the cause of the fire, the London Fire Brigade will not begin their investigations until the fire is out. Thank you letters are going to local businesses who were very helpful and supportive of the council's response yesterday. No buses remain on diversion. The building will be made secure once the council is given back control. "
  7. Boris has decided to close East Dulwich Police station. As part of his changes we'll see far fewer officers in our local Safer Neighbourhood Teams. Those few officers remaining will be based in Camberwell Police station and will spend a high proportion of their time traveling to and from East Dulwich. But this will allow Boris ot pretend Police numbers are high - if spending much of their day unproductively. So the senior Southwark officers saay they have no need for an operational police base on Lordship Lane. Local officers are desperate to keep a local base so they can maximise the time they spend policing.
  8. My understanding is Boris is closing it and very nearly disband all the local Policing teams. That Southwark top Police see no reason why they'd need an operational base localled having largely disbanded local policing Safer Neighbourhood Teams. Extremely depressing and completely avoidable. So Boris will talk about maximising Police numbers but they'll spend much of their days travelling from centrlaised bases and back agian - ie. much more of eahc officers day will be unproductive.
  9. Yes after one year of taking over the Peckham primary school they've not yet improved its Ofsted score.Whch with the old and wording respectively of Satisfactory and Requires Improvement: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/137413
  10. Hi P68, The council doens't receive speeding fines. Not sure where you got this incorrect idea from? The survey I was assured shows drivers going faster than 20mph day and night. Not many cyclsits going faster than 20mph and yes some cyclists and car drivers jump red lights. I which I'd prefer to crash with. I agree the lights could work better for everyone - we had asked for zebra crossing but TfL blocked that as we have Puffin crossings because council officers think they're safer than Pelican crossing. Yet to be shown any evidence of this.
  11. I've asked for re inspections. Getting a zero of 1 star from an inspection means they're very likely to be a health risk to our community. UncleBen. Your comments don't apply when a business gets a zero or 1 star rating. I'd like to have been able to ask for the 2 stars to be reinspected as well which clearly need to be improved but I can't.
  12. But sadly the fire still appeared to be going.
  13. Hi KK, It is very frustrating the decision taking so long to come through formally. It does make you wonder...
  14. Hi first mate, I've responded on the requested thread.
  15. Hi DJKQ, The proposal is for 20mph between Goose Green and Melbourne/Whateley Roads. I've never talked at taking it along to the Plough. Average speed cameras do work exceptionally well even in urban areas. Even with stop start normal drivers will still be concerned they don't get a ticket. This then impedes those trying to play the numbers.
  16. The London Fire Brigade has told the council as a minimum Walworth Road is closed until tomorrow.
  17. Latest update I've recieved at 17.10. London Fire Brigade have advised Southwark Council that it will be several days before the building is returned to Southwark. My interpretation is that this could mean the Walworth Road is closed or largely closed for several days. Please avoid the area. It's unknown how much fire damage has occurred and will remain uncertain for a day or so.
  18. But Bromley and Beckehham are tory and extension to them appear to result in replacing fast trains for them with slow tubes. As tory heartlands they'll try and kill this. I would hope Southwark argues that a short extension sooner rather than later will being urgrnelty needed benefits and that the ultimate end route be decided later. That then seperates out the tory london borough risk of killing this.
  19. Apparetnyl 20 fire engines and 120 fire fighters now there. The area is cordoned of so please AVOID the area. The fire brigade have stated "The wholr of the roof of a museum and librsary in Wanswey Stree,t Walworth, SE17 is on fire. At this stage, no injuries have been reported".
  20. Fire fighters still there. No one has been injured but the museums collections are at risk and in an unknown state. Four nearby buildings have been evacuated. One with 25 flats, 3 other houses who will be staying at relatives temporary accomodation. Please avoid the area. A cordon has been apparently been introduced and that part of Walworth closed.
  21. Hi first mate, I'm told from a reliable source that only one planner was in last Friday so the planned updates related to this case didnt happen. The one planners spent the day dealing with everyone's queries.
  22. All Southwark staff accounted for and safe and working at other libraries. 15 fire engines and 97 fire fighters there. Please avoid the area.
  23. The bit E&C-Camberwell-Peckham I get. The bit Lewisham-Bromley I don't get. To make this work would require replacing subiurban trains with tube trains. Replacing quick train journeys with slower tube journeys. So it's likely to mee fierce resitance the closer it gets to reality. it also only provides extra capacity in half of the extension and replaces almost like for like the outer half. Eitherway, we need to reserve Southwark land now before its built on to ensure it happens.
  24. Hi UncleBen, Virtually all the shops with very low ratings were last inspected well over 6 months ago. Many much longer ago. It is not acceptable for our community to have businesses selling fooding with such low food hygiene ratings and the council to sit on it's hands for such periods. Some of the premises are aimed at children. I'm sorry if these premises do rapidly improve if it harms your business. But your financial benefit fro mthe potential ill health of residents could never be allowed to deter me from doing the best possible job I can for our area. Hi the-e-dealer, The inspections would be undertaken by council officials. When somewhere gets a zero, 1 or 2 star ratings they shoud automatically be reinspected. I'm amazed I'm having to chase this. Generally, my hope would be East Dulwich becomes well known for having great food places not just in terms of taste and value but also hygiene. Some really well loved local businesses are letting us all down.
  25. Dulwoich Librsry reopening is delayed by a week or slightly more. Discovered some asbestos and also not using shop fitting methodology for speed.
