  1. Hi geh, Public transport is controlled by TfL. TfL have been cutting buses so not really practical to ask the council to consult on something they know would never happen. Generally. With Climate Crisis and air pollution we all need to change many habits. Ability to drive anywhere is one of them. The main industry for the Dulwich area is private schools serving a huge area of London - with many driven in cars to school. These proposals would make that less attractive. The Townley Road proposals lack clarity. But we do know half traffic on Southwark roads during am/pm rush hours start and end their journeys outside Southwark. Lots go down non A roads and this approach could go a long way to fixing this if applied on some other key roads. I suspect this is using Dulwich as guinea pigs for wider ideas. Seems clear the denial that the current administration does not want CPZ everywhere has been shown to be incorrect. Overall these proposals are likely to make some journeys impractical by car and see some people change habits.
  2. With contactless personal use and resulting less business cash to bank, people using far less cash for everyday items, this feels inevitable.
  3. And record the Police crime number you will be given from reporting the theft for likely bills for from the likes of Dartford tunnel, ULEZ, CCZ, etc. As points out get special screws to make life harder for thieves to steal plates.
  4. It's a Southwark Council Housing maintained road - paid for by rent/freehold payment from the home owners there. I do not believe formal parking resections exist other than the gate which could be locked at any time if the council was more organised. Similar exists the other wise of East Dulwich Grove running alongside the railway line.
  5. And here - http://www.suttonlibdems.org.uk/parking_update_what_s_the_difference_between_a_cpz_and_a_ppa - they're looking for Parking Permit Area instead of Controlled Parking Zone. PPA does not equal any loss of parking, doesn't have oodles of yellow lines, etc. Does have permits.
  6. No. The East Dulwich station mural was paid for from CGS funds - I applied for the money. sunshine77 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They?re not murals. 7. Dulwich & West Norwood - The United To Remain candidate is from the Green party. Lib dems have stood aside to here to ensure one true Remain candidate. So Lib Dems can not print and deliver any literature in DaWN without breaking election law. Hence silence from us. Even printing and delivering letter support The Green Party candidate would count towards their election expenses. Camber & Peckham - I've been leafletted by Labour and Lib Dems. Bermonsey & Old Southwark - huge campaigns going on there. But as reported recently 200 parliamentary seats have not changed hands from one party to another since WW2. It can make for parties being very complacent.
  8. If anyone is unhappy with their GP practice - DMC or any other - then make a formal complaint...https://www.england.nhs.uk/contact-us/complaint/complaining-to-nhse/
  9. Creating more parking begets more traffic. Which then begets more pressure for parking..... The key is to stop creating more parking demand for the extra parents and staff this planning proposal would create. The new CPZ will alleviate some of the pressure for residents. It is likely to displace parking pressure from school staff and parents onto Townley Road / Calton Avenue etc.
  10. Hi Hammerman, I think you're talking about JAGS and the Sea Cadets and the hut they rented from the Dulwich Estate.
  11. The owner should build a fence there - it is never used for parking. FEncing this private land would remove the dump spot.
  12. No, if the school is refused planning permission by Southwark Council the applicant can appeal that decision. A planning inspector then re runs the decision either based solely on written evidence or holding a F2F element for oral evidence to be heard. The inspector then writes a report making a recommendation to grant or refuse permission. The relevant minister usually rubber stamps that decision but can and does rarely take a different view to that planning inspector recommendation. The only route to challenge IF Southwark Council were to grant permission would be via a Judicial Review within 3 months if there was evidence Southwark had not followed their processes or the law in reaching its decision. The planning system is biased towards applicants (clearly in my personal view).
  13. It is a universal problem of children being driven to school - but especially pronounced when the entry requirements for local provide schools are not based on distance from the school. Alleyns is a sub-regional school. Admissions to the Junior school near 100% result in pupils gaining admission to the secondary school - so super attractive to some families from some, for London, significant distances away to get into the Junior School and drive pupils until old enough to use the coach service. For a number of years I've suggested to Southwark Council Development/Planning teams that a limit of further private school development via a Supplementary Planning Guide is required.
  14. When my lot ran the council we ensured such contentious planning application were heard in the local area by local councillor. I can honestly say the scheme proposed and approved by a the current Labour council and it appears supported by local Labour councillors would never have been approved y Lib Dem local councillors. ON so many levels it is the wrong design for the wrong location. We used to have local democracy for making such decision. This was stopped early on when Labour re took control of Southwark Council.
  15. Hi gerry, and other Bassanno residents. Please accept my apologies for my part in this. As one of the then Councillors for East Dulwich ward I proposed council housing for these two garages sites. I expected such housing to conform to the Southwark Plan which restricts density, heights, etc and respects our area as suburban. Clearly the current council administration and more recently elected Councillors are happy with the areas suburban character not being respected. Hence the travesty of these approved schemes. Sorry.
  16. Southwark plants tree Jan-March the ideal tree planting months. IF you email Renata I'm sure she'll be able to check this location is on the tree planting list.
  17. Agree with malumbu and Lemming. Did the same last Autumn across my home. Saving electricity, even though all renewable still good to reduce, saving money. Pay back I calculated at less than a year. Better lighting all round.
  18. You might wish to consider parking across your own drive way to ensure you have access to your vehicle. i don't know which road but you could ask for double yellow lines but this would take some time to happen. If you wish to request such lines email [email protected] The Police will rarely act with urgency of drives being blocked - they may make an exception in your case but I doubt you'd want the added stress.
  19. The rubber tubes across local roads measure traffic flow, direction and speeds. The CCTV records car number plates. when all the cameras data is compared they can tell how many cars take which route through the area. Such detailed origination and destination surveys are super helpful to answer questions around what ifs and what changed since measures have been installed. The cameras are not real time.
  20. I hope the victim makes a full recovery. This violence is unusual, especially in our area. Police stats for Good Green ward where this happened can be found here - https://www.met.police.uk/sd/stats-and-data/met/crime-data-dashboard/ also see attached. In summary 144 reported crimes per thousand population. Goose Green ward has the 4th lowest reported crime rate in Southwark out of 23 wards for the period August 2019 to July 2019.
  21. It's entirely in the gift of local councillors to make a fuss and get enforcement officers to enforce, or not.
  22. From memory Marks & Spencer had to get a Delivery Management Plan agreed with Southwark Council; - which was intended to stop deliveries routed via Melbourne Grove and Chesterfield Grove. I've tried searching for this but the councils planning portal seems to have made inaccessible older planning applications.
  23. East Dulwich Health Centre for me. Clear what is and where it is.
