  1. Hi Siduhe, Not directly as the decision around the cycle contraflow hasn't been taken. BUT council officers may have served notice to say they're expecting to carry out works and that often triggers utility companies to undertake works before new road layouts make such planned work more expensive to carry out.
  2. The planning application for this site will be decided next week Tuesday 3 February. http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=119&MId=4805 The full planning applicatino can be seen here: http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeDocs&TheSystemkey=9553144 Cllr Rosie Shimell and I requested the decision be called-in and decided by planning committee. WE have fomally objected to the scheme... The proposal is 22 homes: ? 9 one bed flats ? 6 two bed flats ? 3 three bed flats ? 4 four bed town houses. Council officers have recommended it be approved. We think is't an over development - it breaches the maximum density levels for the area. Undoutedly it will cause extra congestion and despite proposing 44 under ground car parking spaces will attract visitors who will add to the existing parking pressure.
  3. Hi joom, Helbel65, Which bit of Overhill Road? Due to meetings tonight and tomorrow night I wont get a chance before Thursday evening to visit. Yesterday I reviewed all the highway maintenace plans Southwark have for the next 3 financial years: http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/?p=2890 I spotted what appears lots of duplication implying for the whole borough potentially another ?1M to reallocate for highway renewals. WRT Overhill Road. Southwark Council current plans are for 40m of footway between Belvoir Road and Underhill Road will have some minor work done in financial year 2017/18. No other plans stated for Overhill Road. Each ward also has around ?33,000 each year to allocated for highway repairs. So worth highlighting to council officers and ward councillors that you'd like them to spend it on Overhill Road.
  4. Why not indeed. I've asked. If you would like to be included in the email exchanges please email me
  5. Hi The ArtfulDogger, If anyone is for or against unrestricted parking being converted to 1 hour only no return then please RESPOND to the consultation. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200140/parking_projects/3654/one_hour_free_parking_in_local_shopping_parades I have formally objected to the removal of any unrestricted parking in East Dulwich ward. Hi Siduhe, The proposed CPZ around ED station was more spaces for parking. That aspect of relining was implimented and more spaces for parking was the actual result. These new parking restrictions will reduce that unrestricted parking.
  6. Hi peckhambog, It does but I have received a torrent of emails about TTIP, Mental health, Townley Road and still catching up. Sorry. Hi LS1234, I've asked what would be required to change this policy - asked before Christmas - and have'nt had a response. I will chase.
  7. Hi Andrew 1011, For most of my comments on this thread I have not be political. But after so long of nice comments and feedback but no shift to me it has reached the point that it need to be escaalted a stage and yes I did suggest residents needed to be clear to politicians how strongly they felt for or against. It appears to have done the trick. Hopefully job done.
  8. But surely Renata their would be the funds to just do the work at a dryer time of the year? hi Lee Scoresby, Cyclie path at northern end of Greendale cycle path has been closed weithout suitable pracitcal alternative. The Elephant & Castle cycle bypass has been closed without notice on Steedman Street this month and plans to close it on Churchyard Row for 18months without a suitable alternative - in fact the diversion does'nt even appear to be legal but I don't have the reosurces to seek a Judicial Review. Very sad that lotso f talk about being pro cyclnig but the actions aren't coming throguh to demonstrate this.
  9. Hi Andrew 1011, Ouch! We initiated a campaign for a new secondary school, found huge support for one from a lot of hard work, eventually reversed Southwark Council adamant opposition to it. We submitted a Right to Contest to resolve the pickle of Dulwich Hospital. Two oustanding secondary school providers have applied to open 'our' secondary schoool.Yes, I'm proud of our record of leadership on this.
  10. Hi Andrew1011, I'm sorry if councillors from a political party you support haven't been great in this isntance. It is encumbent upon the administration to really check proposals over before they decide to push for them. This farce will have costs a great deal in officers time and resident good will. This takes great interest in detail. Labour councillors rely more upon council officials to do this detail than my lot did. You could argue that's good, keeping an eye on the bigger picture, potentially getting more done not bothering with the details. But it's the details that can have such a negative impact on communities that can take many years to recover e.g. allowing Sainsbury's on Metropolitan open land on Dog Kennel Hill - this came close to killing Lordship Lane and its taken 20 years to recover. You also have to wonder. If councillor in an adminsitration don't check officer schemes rthoroughly then why have councillors? In this example any councillor who knows the area could quickly see that the most popular turning manuevre of this junction being stopped would have a huge knock on effect in the wider area.
  11. Councillor Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and transport, said: ?My thanks to everyone who contributed to the recent consultation which received a significant number of responses. In light of the considerable local concerns raised by residents the right turn from Townley Road into East Dulwich Grove will remain, and I have instructed council officers to work up alternative proposals to make the junction safer. Further details on the new scheme will be presented to the Dulwich Community Council meeting in March, with a formal decision to be taken soon afterwards. We are committed to further public consultation and engagement on any new options.? Ensuring this happens the next step will be to request these works take place during school holidays. The scale of work implies the summer holiday.
  12. Hi bobbsy, That is one of my concerns. if all roads are 20mph then how do we discourage rat-running? 20mph is a great principle but without phyiscal measures or not being applied universally a blunt instrument with unintended consequences. I'm afriad I don't have all the answers to allay these concerns....yet!
  13. Hi Andrew1011, I suggested to resdeints they email Labour councillors being clear how they felt. A number copied me in. Labour within days change their minds. You're right it may be a fluke and totally unrelated. labour cllrs dodging the issue on Saturday may quite naturally woekn up this morning and changed their minds. Whatever cause this vbolte face it is good news.
  14. hi first mate, H don't get the connection you've made between this secondary school proposed admissions policy change and a 2nd Harris primary school for the area? Regards james.
  15. Hi bobbsy, Hmmm, main roads lined with homes transfer speed for vehicles accupants to lower life expectancy/incomes to residents.
  16. Hi bli, I think you have to email it as an attachement to [email protected] Hi P68, All I'm saying is not talking to the second largest school place provider in Southwark after Southwark Council iteself at a senior level for 5 years is a bit dumb. That if such meetings were taking place I would expect this admissions change proposal and others to be included in a regular agenda and Southwark Labour could have said they weren't keen. But that opportunity to head of this proposal isn't possible because Southwark Labour hate Harris Federation so much they don't meet with them. Clearly Harris aren't acting out of pique. But they also can't act from talking to Labour cllrs because those cllrs won't talk to them! NB. Southwark Labour cllrs have waived through lots of planning applications on Metropolitan Open Land for private schools in Southwark for permanent structures. I've seen the most partisan hard time given to Harris for a temporary structure by Southwark Labour councillors.
  17. Hi slarti b, It's from an email sent by the Labour cabinet councillor asccountable for Transport. To me that's pretty official. Hi @Woodwarde, As the banned RHT came from knowhere I wouldn't expect a reconsultation of effectively a corrected scheme.
  18. Pleased to see community action has paid off. Labour have climbed down and now asking council officers to prepare a version of the proposed scheme keeping the RHT from Townley Road and that this is the recommended scheme for approval. Well done to everyone who has directly applied pressure to Labour councillors. It has worked. Still worth keeping the pressure up to ensure they don't vacilate. I will be asking any revised scheme includes red light camera for thE Townley Road branch as I think this is crucial for the diagonal crossing proposed under the new scheme to ensure it is safe to children to cross unaided.
  19. I'm very pro cycling - I used to chair Sotuhwark Cyclsits and I used to represent Southwark Cyclsits on the Dulwich Safe Routes To School. So far I've seen no evidence to make me believe snything other than... I like the propose scheme EXCEPt for the banned RHT. That will push vehicles including cyclists on circuitous routes - which effectively magnifies the impact of those vehicles. Considerate drivers will obey such a restriction but they're rarely the problem. The inconsiderate ones will regularly ignore the RHT making this really dangerous as others wont expect it. Giving cyclists a head start going southwill really help. Adding a red lgiht camera to traffic coming out of Townley Road would really help. I often see vehicles exiting on a pedestrian green phase.
  20. Hi First mate, The flattened land area has been so for how many years? close to a decade. It took a decade to get to that point. From start ot finish this has been a classic example of Yes Minister. You can just hear Sir Humphrey - in the fullness of time minister, lets not be rash minister. What was the point of having such a senior Labour minister at the heart of government for 13 years to only see part of the hospital flattened in all that time?
  21. Hi first mate, Which is why I submitted a Right To Contest the land use last february which finally appears to have caused some traction. The Right To Contestwas introduced by Lib Dems in government and it was me as a Lib Dem councillor working with Cllr Rosie Shimell who submitted one. Our Labour MP for 22 years even when a senior government minister didn't solve this problem - one of the largest in the constituency.
  22. Eitherway, Southwark Council is proposing to remove some unrestricted parking space and replace them with 1 hour time limited parking. I have formally objected to this - I hope others do as well. Fig you're against controlled parking I would suggested what proposed is the thin edge of a wedge.
  23. Hi Sue, I would expect they will but it is NHS Property involve. Hi bawdy-nan, I fear they price the land for residential use and the EFA won't be able to afford all the remaining land. At residential prices the spare land would be worth over ?60m. I have asked Southwark Labour to zone the land to stop this but they're clear this isn't needed. I'm not a gambling man - it feels like they are gambling with local children's futures.
  24. This after noon Dulwich councillors were emailed the attached. Sadly no more detail yet but it is fabulous that after 22 years the coalition government is close to finalising new health facilities at the Dulwich Hospital site.
  25. Hi ITATM, All I'm saying is if Southwark Labour aren't talking or even trying to talk to Harris then they can't have any influence over them. Not one single meeting request to meet the Harris Federation. How is that serving the interested of Southwark parents? hi rahrahrah, It is a painful consultation to respond to. Hopefully everyone who has commented has responded. I've advertised ti ino one of my mass emails to residents.
