  1. Dulwich Park had Pub in the Park running there for a while but that seems to have stopped. Does anyone know why? It still runs at other locations.
  2. Presumably that's just a date to implement so it's payable on all spend thereafter. So would not apply to fees paid upfront for school year 24/25 if paid upfront. Appreciate that not everyone does this but would imagine that most do. That's just my interpretation, anyway.
  3. Just bumping this as we are still on the lookout for a goalkeeper for next season. We have a couple of spots available for outfield players too.
  4. Average commute and average car journey clearly aren't the same thing. People use their cars to drop their kids at school (including local primaries), nip to the shop etc - hope that helps...? No-one is saying ban all cars. As you know.
  5. Did Quiksilver go bust? I thought it was still going strong as the flagship brand of Boardriders Inc who now also own Billabong, RVCA and others.
  6. First Mate, was it not Southwark Council that denied Gala's application for a license to run over two weekends? Am I missing something. It's not really a contradiction, it seems more like it's an inconvenience to you and you don't like it. Fair enough that's up to you. I also live v near the site and it doesn't really bother me... I'm glad that so many people come and enjoy themselves.
  7. I think it's been said before that the organisers, and maybe the council feel that the dipped area where the event is held offers better acoustic protection. And it's also prettier - even people who dance to repetitive beats like to do so somewhere nice 🙂 Is there a legal/administrative issue around fencing off Common land that makes it easier to have it in the Park? I know they hold events on Clapham Common so that might suggest not... just wondering?? It's a very reasonable question about the evident correlation between more festivals and the diminishing number of nightclubs and music venues; it may be a factor but def not the only one. Gentrification and repopulation across inner and central London has caused problems around licensing and also meant that businesses that that rely on 5-6 hours of trade 3/4 nights a week struggle to compete economically in revitalised neighbourhoods.
  8. Sorry hear about your puppy. Sadly this is just the norm in all the parks and open spaces round here. Dogs off leash in areas signed as on leash only, and owners letting their dogs run pretty wild with no evident power of recall in the other areas.
  9. You could have a look at this place: https://lowermillestate.com/stay/ It's a development built on the Cotswold Water park with a rage of accommodations. It has an indoor and outdoor pool, plus plenty of other activities, on-site and in the surrounding area.
  10. Hi all, We are looking for goalkeeper for our team as our current one is hanging up his gloves at the end of this season. We will be playing U16's next season so the player should currently be in year 10 moving into year 11 in September. Ideally we would be looking for someone with goalkeeping experience for a competitive team be it club or school team level. The team is based at Athenlay which is out the back of Peckham Rye Park, we train there and in the Park with home matches normally being played in Lower Sydenham and away fixtures across south east London. We are in the Selkent C division at the moment, but may be dropping down down to the D next season. TBC Please message me directly, if you might be interested or just want more info.
  11. Genuine question - what on earth is artificial wood?
  12. Hi there, I can't tell you much about Goose Green, but we had two kids at Bessemer who both loved it and thrived there. Our younger one left last year for secondary school. As you're probably aware, Bessemer has v good outdoor space for inner London, including a nature garden with chickens (if the foxes haven't eaten all of them), plus they have access on occasion to the playing fields of the school next door. The staff were all excellent during the time our kids were there, and there was a really lovely community feel about the school. Hope all goes well. D
  13. It’s not really an argument from my side. Like I said, if there’s something I misunderstood in the OP, please feel free to set me straight. Appreciate the candour and the good-natured response, but it doesn’t really serve as a free pass to do whatever suits you best regardless of impact on anyone else. And the comments about the fairness of owners and renters having access to school places read as disingenuous. There are plenty of rental properties within catchment of that school including some large tracts of social housing. You said that you own your own home. That places you in a minority in this borough. You also seem to have the financial wherewithal to juggle things around at will if it suits. So sorry if I’m not buying the ‘poor me’ aspect of this. On the upside, there are many other great schools in the borough, mostly rated as Good or Outstanding. Good luck in your search for the right school.
  14. Obviously renters can apply for places at Southwark school places just like everybody else but this seems, by your own description, like deliberate gaming of the system, the net result of which would be to deprive a child who genuinely meets the admissions criteria of this place. Help me out if I've missed something. And what you're asking is simply 'will I get caught'? Again, please help me out here if I've misunderstood. In this case I think, as others have pointed out the answer is: yes, you probably would. Hope this helps.
  15. The short answer would seem to be no, not in this coming election anyway. If the Tories put up a heavyweight, London friendly (socially progressive) candidate, they might stand half a chance. But for whatever reason, they haven't fancied the odds the last two elections and have stood candidates who no-one had heard of and have shown themselves to be weak by any measurable standard. So looks like another easy win for Sadiq... he quite possibly won't fancy a third term, and next election will be against the backdrop of a Labour govt who might well be struggling to fulfil their agenda.
  16. This is a wind-up, surely...?
  17. Hi there, There are a few clubs round here that compete in the Selkent league who all have matches on Sundays; with Athenlay, Dulwich Village and Hillyfielders being the nearest. At this point in the season, it's too late for players to join an active team, but you might be able to get him added to a training group with a view to him joining a team for the next season. There's also Tulse Hill Juniors nearby who play in the Tandridge League - also on Sundays Hope this is helpful
  18. Thanks for that - I already got myself a ticket at Tessa Jowell on the first day of owning the car - doh!!
  19. That's helpful thank you, although mainly confirms what we already knew. There are lamp-post chargers on our street but you can't always get close to them.
  20. Thank you for the responses on this. I had a ticket already, but had a couple of late additions to our party who hadn't bought in advance, so we got there at 2:30 pm. We queued up for a long time; after kick-off and eventually got in once the staff were able to work out how many season-ticket holders had not turned up. I'll know for next time 🙂
  21. Thanks for that. Do you know, does that mean I can buy tickets at 1:30 and then come back?
  22. Does anyone have any top tips for a new EV/Hybrid driver on where to charge-up? What is the deal with the Source charging points on Townley Road? Do you need to be a member? Are the ones at Sainsbury's ever working? Thanks
  23. Does anyone know, if online tickets are sold out - can you go to the ground in advance of ko on the day to buy tickets, or is it just pay as you go through the turnstile?
  24. Cripes, I'm not sure this would get past the sub-editor of one of those glossy circulars estate agents publish. A couple of questions: How does the name East Dulwich imply that it's located in south-east London? Is the station in 'heart of the area'? Have they moved it?
