I think the chicane is fun - they should put some more in, and maybe some jumps. Who says we may lose this cycle route? What's stopping the council from making it a demarcated split use path like the one which runs up from East Dulwich Grove past the back of Sainsbury's??

Chick Pea - as a cyclist, you can't just stop every time you cycle past (on the road) a pedestrian on the basis that they may may walk out in front of you. Sometimes you get a feel that they might, if they're on their mobile most commonly, and you would seek to exercise extra caution but it's not that easy to be able to predict who is suddenly going to walk out in front of you with no warning or without looking. Are you saying we should ring our bells at every pedestrian who is on the pavement just in case?

I just hope whoever buys it knocks it down... Or is that a given??

I also live on Ulverscroft and totally agree with the OP As far as I can tell, the bin men are very careless and drop litter everywhere when they empty the bins on this road. I don't know how it compares elsewhere. So the answer is most likely not a policy issue but an issue of effective administration and control of the council's subcontractors. The dog poo thing is an increasing issue - it seems to have got really out of hand over the last six/twelve months. What can be done about this? - Sue, I haven't responded to the leaflet yet, but I will do when I get a spare moment

I don't agree with what this woman said one bit. Essentially her role in life bringing up her kids is incredibly important, but as with the general consensus on here, I don't believe it should be subsidised by the tax-payer. And how she equates that with being attacked or denigrated is beyond my comprehension. She's entitled to her view, of course, and to phone up talk radio shows to express it. One can only assume she doesn't have anything better to do with her time. But what really irks me is the Mail's coverage of this. Countless thousands of people phone talk radio shows to make ill-informed, self-unaware and self-interested points every day. So why does the Mail pick up on this? I don't believe this article was written to defend women who want to stay in the home, I believe it was written to remind women that's where their proper place is, in the home doing the housework please. And if you're in any doubt as to what the Daily Mail really thinks about women, turn to page three of today's Mail to see a story about a woman who who has issued a lawsuit against a man she claims sexually assaulted her accompanied by a naked picture of the claimant. Shameful! For what it's worth I am no fan of Nick Clegg but from the transcript, I would say he gave a very good account of himself this time.

I live in Ulverscroft and can normally park outside or very close to my house. It's not always great on a Friday or Saturday admittedly...

For the record, I was involved in a collision on this stretch of 'cycle path' about a month ago. A guy who was texting walked out in front of me. I was able to apply my brakes and swerve to try and avoid hitting him, but I did still make contact and then wiped-out and ended up on the floor in the road proper. Luckily there was no bus on the road at the time. Still I came away fairly bruised and battered, nothing too serious, and needed ?80 of repairs to my bike. I didn't relaise I was supposed to report this...
