  1. Erm sorry, i'd had some ale. But yay for the British petanquers
  2. Yes yes - it was great. Our offices have recently moved to Victoria and now there is a dearth (although I still seem to have managed to find a few last night) Is there anywhere good to eat round there?
  3. The bar at the Cinnamon Club (great cocktails, politicians) Bank (longest bar in europe or some such when it was opened) - a bit full of wankers these days, but had a nice gruner veltliner in there tonight The Ebury down near the coach station
  4. James, I'm inclined to agree with almost all of the above, but what strikes me most is something that's been said before, which is that it isn't a compeitition. By that I don't mean that you necessarily regard it as such, just that sadly, in this world, there's room for bigotry of all persuasions. It can manifest itself in diverse and unexpected ways, and it seems that you have experienced more than your fair share of prejudice, for which I am sad. I am neither gay nor non-white, though I have witnessed at first hand the violence that homophobia and racism can bring about. I also have up close and very personal experience of violence against women, born of the notion that it is somehow acceptable. I don't want to derail your thread, rather to say that in many areas we think we've made strides, but ultimately some people are simply c**ts - whatever your point of difference they will find in that a reason for grievance. The hope is that increasingly, whatever the cause of bigotry, these people find themselves in the minority. And the majority don't remain silent.
  5. Right, who are these trolling b@stards because I'm in a right royal bad mood and ready to take them on? Edited for squiffy irrelevance.
  6. Field of gold, field of gold, vive la petanque anglaise, allez lez chevaux!!! The irony of a mondiale in marseilles is a rich seam, wherein more poetic than me could plough, but am un petit peu ivree, so only courage mon brave.Am a cheese-eating-surrender-monkey-ophile, but if we can beat them at the boudin noir, we can sure as hell take the metal ball challenge to them.
  7. Agree with Tinks on this one - I always got on well with her (this may be because I am supremely fashion forward...) And for those of you that didn't, was her intonation really enough to keep you at bay? Just feels a bit mean
  8. But the wise old policeman wasn't
  9. What are you angry about - NOT culling badgers? You might be right that if they were ugly buggers no one would mind killing them (as an aside,a friend once pointed out that if prawns lived on land there's no way we'd eat them - imagine one now, scuttling from under your sofa, and the picture it again, glistening with oil and chilli atop your spahettini...) However, having listened a good deal to Farming Today, it seems to me that the case has not been made for a badger cull, that it is very far from proven that badgers cause the spread of bovine tb, and therefore, as a signed up member of the tufty club, i can't condone the pointless slaughter of these cute but fearsome creatures
  10. Well spotted - my lunchtime refreshment may have confused my little grey cells slightly. Am guessing The Herne isn't open late..?
  11. Hah! I love Sean that your reference point is San Fran and mine Birkenhead. I actually know some people from Birkenhead. Do you think that qualifies me to bounce in ED? I think I could scare off those Bromley riff raff. The North West holds no mystique for me CWALD,but i'll sign up for Jamaica
  12. Hey, the Vale is open late is it not? What time are these drinks likely to go on until? Keep meaning to come but this time i will be drinking birthday cocktails in town.

Bon3yard, you cannot fool me. You are a funny man who also makes delicious pies - clearly therefore you are very sexy - and just fishing with your davros comment. We will not indulge you. However, i must commend the dr who team on an excellent villain. Quite exceptional in the realisation

    Dr Who

Anyone else watch it tonight? I'm so pant wettingly excited I can hardly speak, but also distraught. Is the supremely delicious david tennant really going to regenerate? All hail Russell T for an absolutely stonking episode. I'm not sure I can wait 7 days. I need to lie down

Maybe a few peeps need to try > one!:-S wise words Tillie. was supposed to get one in the office today, but missed my slot - that's probably why my prose is tending towards the terse and laconic haven't had a massage there, but I rate her facials highly (she practically rubs out your wrinkles) maybe will see if there's a slot tomorrow

Asset's an articulate woman - I should think she knows her tautologies from her pleonasms and no mistake And Dr Hauschka's hardly cheap. it's pricier than a lot of things Dr Boo sell. I'm resistant to the notion that because you buy a couple of things from a health shop you are wise, and because I buy a couple of things from a "pretty" shop, I have more money than sense. Even if I buy the exact same two products?
  18. Why more money than sense? You buy Dr Hauschka, they sell it in there, ergo you have more money than sense..? Nice shop, nice products, and nice staff
  19. No no no. Think of julian rhind tutt (sp?) No tan - prime almost-radioactively-glowing white weedy candidate for bullying. Hint of sunshine and lo! A delicious piece of man candy.
  20. Four minute warning?
  21. Sherry at the Palmerston. Shameless plugging of one of my clients - if you're eating at the Palmerston over the course of the next week, check out their sherries. Really rather good. Spanish icons aside, anything I can lay hands on.
  22. Brilliant Corners too winsome?
  23. and come on, let's face it, who isn't thinking they could be as cool as John Cusack in High Fidelity?
  24. lord love your dear old mum. but I bet she also remembers a time when your neighbours would do anything for you and you could leave your back door unlocked and come home to find that not only was your telly still there, but someone had left you a fresh baked pie on the kitchen table I've offered my services for what they're worth. having packed in my job, I'm considering branching out...
  25. no no spoilers I promise - just saying as programmes go, it's probably the most relentless I've ever watched. utterly brilliant but it's no romcom. think I must have a brain like a sieve - can't remember all the scenes at all
